Panthers Move To Tank Season; Place Chuba Hubbard On Injured Reserve

So yesterday, Joe listened to Panthers head coach Dave Canales say all his players listed as “questionable” on the Carolina injury report were expected to play Sunday at The Licht House in Tampa.
One was Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard. He had 25 carries for 152 yards and 2 touchdowns last Sunday against Arizona.
Today, however, the Panthers ended Hubbard’s season by placing him on injured reserve. Hubbard, a 1,000-yard rusher and the heart and soul of the Carolina offense, was grinding through a knee issue pretty damn well. In fact, that “bad knee” wasn’t even on yesterday’s injury report; Hubbard was given “rest” but no injury was listed.
This is called tanking for a draft pick, Joe believes.
Man, the Bucs should be thanking the football gods. However, the Bucs’ run defense did neuter Hubbard when the teams squared off on Dec. 1.

The Bucs controlled their own path to the playoffs and let it go. Against Cooper Rush. That should be a fireable offense.
Sure, they might get help from Washington, but the fact they need it is already pathetic.

Leave it up to the Bucs to play down to the competition and this be a close game even if the panthers play backups. We love to struggle against scrubs.

Well, if there was ever a coach who could stifle another team’s plan to tank, it’s our head coach. Canales could trot out the 1978 Army JV team and keep it close.

Todd Bowles failed to motivate and Coach with passion this season last season and the season previous when you have this bunch of talent on a team you should be able to motivate and invigorate that team and Todd Bowles is not that good of a motivator

Bucs need to play inspired come Sunday. Whatever that means to them. Washington should beat the Falcons. But the Falcons new QB kinda looks like the real deal. So we shall see.

Just play the game. Do your jobs. It doesn’t matter if they win by one or 25. Get to week 17 still in the picture.
If ATL beats the Redskins, then the Cowboys can give the Bucs the final wildcard.

Agree with gofortheface. If Wash doesn’t beat the Falcons this week, the Bucs are done. The only way Atl loses to Carolina in the final week is if the Falcon’s team bus crashes on the way from the hotel to the stadium.

The only evidence we have of that is Joe says that’s what Joe believes.
Maybe they are, but speculation has been wrong around here before – lots of times.
I expect the Panthers play to win….. Anyone thinking, wishing, hoping, guessing, believing different is foolish imo.

Its wouldnt hurt my feelings to see new head coach next year. But if we win the next 2 and make the platoffs he will be back, and we will see more of Vuta Vea and JTS dropping in to coverage.

What people here clearly fail to understand is that even if(and it is a big if) Atl beats Wash it does not mean that Bucs are out , Bucs would still get in via Wild card by winning their two and Washington losing their two.

I’ve never understood this mindset. If the team needs an opponent to tank just because you can’t beat them straight up. This to me, screams, you ain’t good enough.

hey joe, if we do make the playoffs, when will we get updates on some of the players on the IR for the longer term? like godwin, dennis, and hill… do you think they make it back to the field?
I think with these guys back we are a contender. we looked amazing at the beginning of the year, but we needed an edge rush and some secondary depth. Now we’ve got some help there again with barrett. I also think dennis is underrated and was making a huge impact.

If Falcons beat the Skins , it will be more likely the Cowboys beat the skins than Carolina beats the Falcons….we have a couple of ways to get in even if we lose….which we won’t.

This season was over when Bucs had the first Falcons game in the bag. In. The. Bag.
And Coach mishandled the game so preposterously at the end, it was really over then. This Coach is an awesome dude. If there were a man of the year of the head coaches, Todd Bowles would be your winner.
In terms of winning football games……not so much.

He only survives in the NFC least by being the best turd.
It doesn’t equate to reaching the Superbowl which should always be the goal.
The win vs the Eagles in the playoffs last year being a solid win was a kannard.
That was a putrid team and a gift to Bowles.
He only beats the drecks of the league.
Wouldn’t last a year in any other division.

Hubbard being out doesn’t mean a thing Bucs Fans. The Panthers will play their hearts out to spoil the Bucs playoffs hopes. If the Buccaneers don’t bring their A-Game, Bryce Young and company could have us in the same situation they had us in a few weeks ago in Charlotte, 23-20 Panthers with 30 seconds left in regulation.
But, as a Bucs fan, I believe Liam Coen and Baker Mayfield have enough offensive firepower, in the running and passing game, to secure another Bucs win at home !!

Dallas and Carolina both are tanking. Cee dee is done so Dallas ain’t beating Washington week 17. The NFL has been all about Atlanta all year. Giving them calls to aid them to wins. Writing is on the wall. Atlanta and Wash with rookie of the year qb are getting in. The NFL knows Bowles is a joke and will never respect us especially with him at the helm. Sucks but it’s reality. Atlanta wins tomorrow night bet big on them. I know I will be!

When Vita dropped from DT to cover OL last week and smashed that Cowboy TE ! Best defensive play I’ve ever seen. The game is over if they get the first down. I thought he knocked the ball loose I saw our guys running to the end zone with it. Our second half defense was clean! We should be finishing up on a 7 game winning streak. We’ll finish 6 for 7. Everyone (except a few) thought 10 wins would get us in. Cowboys kicker 58,58,53,48. Unbelievable. After that Vita play I was sure we were gonna win that game. Everyone whining about our lousy team should get a grip. 2 wks ago we smoked a good Chargers team. Our division sucks? We beat 3 of 4 NFC East teams this year-giants, redskins, eagles. Last year we beat 3 of 4 NFC Central teams-Vikings, packers, bears. We’re not dead yet and have 2 games left. I know what kind of team we have. We’ll win 10 games this year and we will all know it probably should have been 12. Sure would hate to miss the playoffs with this team but if we don’t go making any stupid decisions this offseason (like replacing coaches) we’ll draft some players and be better next year. And we still have a chance to win the Super Bowl this year. Go Bucs!!!

It occurs to me that every team hopes their division rivals lose games every season.
Really, this situation is no different. It’s just coming down to the wire.
I’m not mad we lost one…it happens. I’m not made that we have to hope Atlanta blows it (again). That’s the way of the game.
Those saying Bowles hasn’t motivated this team all year are full of it. These players (most of them) have fought in every game. Injuries played a huge role this year as well.

If you are “starting” to think this, shame on you. I don’t believe most of the JBF readers that are critical of Bowles are attacking his character. Some of the commenters here are imbeciles and their name calling of Bowles is representative of THEIR character. By all accounts and observations Todd Bowles is a man of high character. Some of us, myself included, have called for Bowles to show a little more passion but not for reasons you may think. Bowles at times seems indifferent to poor performance. He doesn’t need to become like Bobby Knight but sometimes the team has given him every right to be angry and some fans would like to see confirmation of that anger.
