Dan Orlovsky Very Impressed With Liam Coen

December 7th, 2024

Bucs OC Liam Coen.

Really cool stuff here that demonstrates how savvy Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen is.

The Joe typing this here posts has been pretty clear the past month or so thinking Coen, the first-year Bucs playcaller, will be a head coach next year somewhere. Could be in the NFL. Could be in college.

He is that good.

And it seems, so too does former Bucs backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky. The current BSPN talking head did a video X’s and O’s breakdown of how Coen uses pre-snap motion to set up the Bucs’ run game.

Basically, Coen is able to create mismatches on the offensive line with tight ends in motion as well as pulling tackles and even guards, often using wham blocks to spring Bucky Irving.

And the way Irving makes guys miss, getting him against a linebacker on the second level is often not a fair fight, as Bucco Bruce Arians would say.

Orlovsky is fully impressed with Coen and referred to him to a current NFL offensive wizard.

“He reminds me a little of a young Matt LeFleur,” Orlovsky said. “And we have to talk more about him and what he is doing using motion at the snap in Tampa’s run game to create advantages.”

Orlovsky seems to think Coen is sort of cutting edge when it comes to designing runs with pre-snap motion.

“Liam Coen, remember the name,” Orlovsky said.

And that, it why you have him replace the Bowels Movement.

Here we are depressed about our record , injuries , our coach and then Joe puts a nice heart warming story about probaly losing are offense coordinator thanks Joe I feel better now.

These things have been done before. But I think Coen’s timing of these plays, knowing which versions to use against which defense is excellent.

The Glazers and Licht need to pay the man whatever it takes.

Coen stock rising quickly while Bowels stock is plummeting!….

  7. Scott Says:

Our offense can hang with the best of them. O line could even use some improvement and it will be even better. You can’t let him go somewhere else.

Let’s Buck, Tuck, White and BAKE!!!!!
    Go Bucs!!!

  9. Kidfloflo Says:

Pewter Report says there is no way the Bucs let him leave, well they better be right! At this point we truly can find any D coordinator to have the same statistics as Bowles defense, and i know we have some key injuries that are hurting. BUT young up and coming offensive minds are what every owner, G.M. and fan base covets! It’s what the league has turned into, and we have one wearing our logo on the sideline!

The Glazers must keep Coen around.

    The offense is too good!

  11. Bucs Bucs Bucs! Says:

Find a way to keep him.
Also… stop with the childish insults about Todd Bowles. It’s a lousy thing to do.

I’d like to know if the Glazers are “Reading” You Joe? I Do know they are Not Hearing what We Fans are Shouting.
