Most Athletic Version Of Mike Evans?
December 10th, 2024So two games ago, Mike Evans made a one-hand end touchdown catch that maybe 6 or 7 NFL wide receivers are even capable of hauling in.
On Sunday, Evans hit a new high that impressed a teammate who spent nine years alongside him.
Retired Bucs tight end Cameron Brate was talking about Evans on the Buccaneers Radio Network yesterday, specifically his huge fourth-quarter catch on 3rd-and-9 Sunday against the Raiders.
Evans snagged a throw over the middle and then hurdled a defender coming at him for a big hit. Evans stuck the landing and then dragged a tackler 6 yards before getting pulled down.
It was a hell of a play from a 31-year-old receiver. Evans looked heathy, angry (because he wasn’t getting enough touches?) and fired up for a huge play.
“That was like, after the catch, the most athletic thing I’ve seen Mike do,” Brate said. “Not before [the catch], Mike is so elite to the catch point. We always kind of bust his chops about his YAC (yards after catch). It was awesome yesterday. That was sweet.”
With 11:03 remaining against the Raiders, that Evans play was massive, as the Bucs led by only four points.
It was Evans’ final target of the game.
Joe wanted to see Evans get more action, and get closer to extending his historic record, but Joe can’t moan about the Tampa Bay offense. It keeps racking up points.
Evans has shown two big signs of being healthy in the past two gamess. That’s enough to get Joe very excited.

Ya bc mike typically takes a dive on the turfs
And asks come out after lol

Bucs want Evans to get his thousand yards, however winning is the number one priority and retaining number one in The NFC South
Evans has a big uphill battle over the next four games. BUCS are not going deep per the OC.
It doesn’t look good for Evans.

I was screaming before that play and the Otton play, let’s get some YAC from our receivers

Baker can’t see the middle of the field and he can’t throw deep accurately consistently. It’s either intermediate outs, comebacks, or crossers for the rest of the season for Mike.

“That was like”
Come on Brate, you’re a Harvard boy. You can like speak better than like that.

Agree UFCguy, not to the FULL extent of how you probably feel because despite the fact that he does wave to the sidelines after every catch (which I have never seen before by anyone) he is still the greatest Bucs receiver in history by a mile and an even better person. More Pro’s than cons.
Evans has a basketball body, long, long strider. Amazing catch radius, backshoulder fade guy and faster than anyone gives him credit for with his long speed. Also a very crips route runner. A guy like Ja’Marr Chase though, he has a wide base. Feet is firmly planted when he turns upfield, much better short area quickness, and can turn a 10 yard play in to a 70 yarder. I think thats why Evans is rarely mentioned among the top 3-5. However watching Chases interview last night after the game, made me even more thankful to have Evans. I dont even like Ja’Marr’s f’ing face. Hate his look, hate the way he talks, low IQ, typical diva receiver. Bucs have 2 of the best humans you can ask for at receiver, I think we take that for granted. Not gnna be like that forever

New LB Deion Jones ran a 4.39 40 at his Combine.

Enjoy hearing from Cam. Mike delivers athleticism every time he is on the field. That catch on Sunday was awesome, and we have seen many like it from him again and again.
December 10th, 2024 at 1:11 pm
Is this the same Deion Jones that intercepted Jameis’s last pass in a Bucs uniform?
December 10th, 2024 at 1:16 pm
He played for Atlanta

@Dewey Selmon yes it is
December 10th, 2024 at 1:54 pm
That pass from Mayfield was the essence of hitting a receiver in stride.

Don’t throw to Mile to get the record. Throw to him because he delivers.
Make it happen, Captain!
Bowles and Coen, get it done or turn in your badges.

Mike’s lost games due to injury will cost him his !000 yards this year…..there is practically no way he gets it…..he’s have to have 100 yards in each of the last 4 games……very improbable.
December 10th, 2024 at 2:06 pm
This will be an unpopular take but Mike’s hands are not good enough to be a hall of famer. Too many routine drops. The true greats don’t have routine drops. Also, one can very easily tell the story of the NFL without ever mentioning Mike Evans. Even the 2020 SB. Antonio Brown and Gronk were the stars. Not Mike. Mike’s only chance was the consecutive 1000 yard streak.
December 10th, 2024 at 2:29 pm
@Jeff – Jerry Rice, and TO have way more drops than Mike. Guess they shouldn’t be in the hall either.
AB and Gronk excelled because Mike was doubled or bracketed.
You have very cynical but more often than not just plain naive perspectives on football topics Jeff.

I don’t think Mike is really healthy yet. He’s playing on one leg and he’s still elite. Hopefully he’s getting healthier each game (and not re-injuring his hamstring)…because it would be awesome if we could sneak Mike out deep against The Fighting Hairballs. Would love to SHOCK the Chargers this Sunday with some explosive deep shots – but that will require better line play, and McMillan & Otton to start taking more pressure in the intermediate pass game. Run game will help soften them up and keep their offense off the field – it’s the way we can steal one against the Hairballs!
Let’s BAKE!

The mod algorithm has me real confused can’t figure out which word is keeping my comment from posting. Not like I used fanboi or said something disparaging about Baker. Crazy!!!

“Mike’s y.a.c. is never good because our OCs rarely call deep crosses which he excels at. That was a beautiful play, it was so effortless and he didn’t break stride. You wanna get Mike those 1k yards without hurting the offense? Throw more cross routes to him. Terry Bradshaw called it the greatest route in all of football. Everybody thinks he’s going to break outside anyways so let him bust few of those open a game and let Mayfield throw on the move more, that’s a throw he excels at.”

Figured it out. How does the last four of the name Brad s h a w trigger a censorship algorithm???

You don’t believe me try it. Type in “s h a w” it’s mind blowing. Well guys now you know you’re not being singled out when it won’t let you post

The O-line wasn’t playing their best. They need to play better on Sunday. If you they do, ME13 will get his share of yards! LC will probably game plan a heavy dose of run to keep LA off the field, eat up clock, and where down the D. Then cut loose. The Bucs need the offens to bring their A game Sunday if they hope to come away with a W. That goes for the defense too.
December 10th, 2024 at 6:42 pm
That catch, leap and run by ME13 is the healthiest and most agile I’ve seen in quite sometime. Hope his hammy is getting more and more healed. I’m still not totally impressed with Coen. Hope he changes my opinion Sunday.
