Mike Evans: I’m Getting Very Close

December 5th, 2024

So no deep shots have been thrown in a while to Mike Evans.

Is it the offense?

Joe’s not buying that. Joe is going with Evans’ health. Yes, Todd Bowles has said Evans has a “green light” on the field. And Buccaneers Ring of Honor said 11 days ago that Evans is “100 percent.”

But Joe’s never swallowed that whole.

Evans looks good, sure, but the Bucs clearly don’t want to throw him go routes. Today, Evans acknowledged he almost feels like himself — as he recovers from a hamstring injury that cost him three games.

“I’m feeling good. I played close to 70 plays last game, felt in really good shape,” Evans said. “I’m getting very close.”

There you go. “Getting very close” kind of says it all.

Hopefully, the Bucs can jump on the bumbling, lost-eight-in-a-row Raiders on Sunday and not overwork Evans in the process.

Joe has hope that Evans truly can get to 100 percent this month. If so, Joe is confident Evans will unleash a bucket of crazy against the Saints and Panther at home to close the season, as he pushes toward 1,000 or more receiving yards for the 11th consecutive season.

He doesn’t need deep throws, he needs numerous accurate throws. There’s a joke in there somewhere.

    Agreed!

Definitely taking Brock bowers on the over and catches that’s a big boy…lol…but I think the bucs overall win I just know if anyone burns us it would be bowers

This sounds like the same joke as the Giants. Only this time, ME13 doesn’t have to push it. Hope Bucs have found a somewhat competent punter. Looking at third win in a row. I’ll savor it cos I hate the Raiders!!

I think Mike is hurt much more than anyone says. He played his guts out at Carolina but he’s no where near 100% and certainly wont be running any deep routes that Joe pines for. A lot of the chatter is intended to deceive the Raiders defense. Hopefully the other WRs play well! LFG!!!

Got to ease the old man back in. Including the bye he hadn’t played in prob 4 weeks. Takes time to get back into game shape. Look at kancey and hes a young buck. Like the panthers game thats the way they should use him until we play the chargers then unleash the beast. Honestly same thing with Bucky. Keep both involved but don’t over use them. We are going to need them all the way for the home stretch

    Wish you the best

No matter how hurt Mike is, he plays his heart and soul out. Big wishes that he reaches a thousand or more yards too!

M1k3 was limping off the field at the end of the last game, noticed it when he ran behind a reporter who was interviewing someone on his way off the field

Reminds of #55 playing past his prime, sad to watch

I know I want to see Mike get to 1K, but is that selfish on our part? Jose, you kind of hinted at that thought when you said not to overwork him.
