Lavonte David Plowing Through All The Dead Flies

December 8th, 2024

Bucs need him even more.

The dead flies are so thick Lavonte David has to wear boots.

You’ve heard the term “dropping like flies” to describe injuries, right? Well, that’s what is happening to the Bucs. The second and third levels of the Bucs defense has been ravaged by injuries.

The Bucs are currently pulling dudes off the street if they ever played for Bucs coach Todd Bowles. Even fan favorite Ryan Neal was put on the practice squad. It’s getting that bad.

And today, Antoine Winfield went down with a knee injury.

“That’s always been me, to help out however I can,” David said. “And that’s what I did today.

“Vi [Jones] game in and stepped up big time for us, made some big plays.”

As for the Bucs now being in first place, David said he can’t get too worked up about that. Too much football left to start counting chickens.

“Not [be] worried about what’s going on outside [the locker room],” David said about how the team regained the lead in the NFC South. “And just worry about and taking care of what’s going on in here.”

The Bucs have two more road games, at Los Angeles (Chargers) and at Dallas and then close the season out with two division games at home: Carolina and New Orleans.

Will three wins be enough to lock up the division?

If the Bucs resuscitate a few of those flies, the task will be slightly easier.

Falcons have Raiders and NYG. If they lose either one, they will be demoralized beyond repair. It would be as devastating as blowing a 28-3 lead.

If Mike Edwards comes back and Tykee stays healthy the bucs defense will be ok.

It helped big time to get Tykee back!, sorry bout Winfield, hope that is not serious, yikes. We need to buy some players that are decent next year–wish we could get a pass rusher that was decent.

It sure helps to have TS 23 back on the field! He’s a playmaker. I wonder if SVD8 will be back soon he was the perfect fit at ILB next to LD54. Let’s hope so!

LVD, Will Gholston, ME13 and CG14 are the only reasons why I havenโ€™t thrown the towel in on all the corruption everywhere in this d###ed country. When Chris Godwin got that cheap shot thanks to Harbaugh/Ravens, I was over it. I am still up in arms. I told myself a few weeks ago, Bucs will surpass their record of 5 wins in a row. They will win 6. Baker Mayfield better get his injured head on straight to help out. Next Sunday will tell. Go honest Bucs!!

Good news is Desmond Ridder will be playing the Falcons. Iโ€™m sure heโ€™s going to want revenge.

    Atl next 4 is
Raiders, Giants, Commanders, Panthers. So Atl should go 3-1.
    Bucs next 4 is
Chargers, Cowboys, Panthers, Saints. Bucs go 2-2
Atl has the easier schedule IMO.
The unreliable defense is depleted and poorly executed.
Hope I’m wrong but I’m just being honest.

    Raiders will beat Falcons

Bucs need to win out to win the division, no chance of a wild card. LFG!

I still can’t believe Bowles is such an idiot he didn’t try to sign Devin White.

Thank God that David is immortal, because without him, this already bad defense would be historically bad.

  12. Roylee Says:

We should have never let Devin White get away

I like White, but I will disagree, at least initially when he wanted a huge contract. However, once the market was what it was, the Bucs should have tried to bring him back – only world class idiots thought slow KJ Britt could actually start in the NFL. But the big sin was not signing White when they could have got him for free. You have a guy who is approximately 14-billion times better than the other scrub LB’s not named David on the roster. Unless there’s some big time drug habit we don’t know about they should have brought him back – well, actually, even if there was a drug habit they still should have brought him back. There is no way that Licht isn’t making that move, it’s 100% on Bowles and I think it’s all about White calling out Bowles for making him play in that garbage soft zone defense when White excels at rushing the passer. Everyone talks about pass rushers, and probably the 2nd or 3rd best pass rusher on the team was available for free and they didn’t show any interest. Makes no sense.

This team has been spoiled by Lavonte. The dude is like a redwood tree, been here forever, standing tall. What if he retired last year? You can’t convince me this coaching group would have been able to develop a rookie or polish a mid level vet to do even 75% what LVD does. This dude is still flying around…smartly. Watching Vita get swallowed up as the season goes on and David getting faster is eye opening. Different bodies/jobs for sure, but when one dude keeps bringing it every week and getting seemingly stronger it makes an impression.

When Lavonte retires it’s going to be a rough few seasons in TBay. Generational talent. The glue.
