Jordan Whitehead, Kameron Johnson Activated

December 28th, 2024

Roster move.

The Bucs got at least one valuable reinforcement back today.

Safety Jordan Whitehead was activated off the injured reserve list. He is eligible to play Sunday against the Stinking Panthers. Same with wide receiver Kameron Johnson, who also came off injured reserve.

Whitehead injured a pec in the blowout win of the Giants right after the bye week.

The Bucs, in a series of moves, per Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com, weren’t done. They released linebacker Vi Jones to make room for the signing of Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett.

The Jones move is strange to Joe. The team spent 11 months getting Jones “ready,” as Bucs coach Todd Bowles deemed it earlier this year, to play when needed. Now, even after making some plays the past couple of weeks, the Bucs deemed him not worthy.

As a result, Jones is looking for work with eight days remaining in the regular season.

    Welcome back, Jordan.

  2. Hodad Says:

If they now believe Shaq is an upgrade over Jones I have even less faith in Bowles, and Licht.

  3. Saskbucs Says:

Hard to say the Bucs haven’t mismanaged that ILB position this year. It’s as if they thought Lavonte David was 2 people.

In hindsight, signing another ILB in the offseason instead of Randy Gregory would have been nice. I agree with Joe about the Vi Jones readiness question, odd to say the least. Stayed with Britt too long. Signed Deion Jones way late, obviously he wasn’t ready cause haven’t seen him. Seems they should have been looking for a box S to help cover the middle of the field.

It all reeks of Bowles outsmarting himself and thinking he can patch the glaring holes with funky schemes and 3rd stringers. Hasn’t worked out to well.

    Go Bucs!

  5. Jethro Tull Says:

Maybe Kameron Johnson can even catch a ball for a 5 yard gain. After the preseason races he was getting, they were making him sound like pre-Vontez Burfict AB. Looked more like the clone of Jaelen Darden to me.

why is every story have a picture of a Buc in creamsicle–we always lose when we are wearing those

  9. FrontFour Says:

Somebody remind Whitehead why we signed him. The guy was a heat seeking missile when he started with us. Since his resigning he’s been just taking up space. Looks like he made his money and just looking to retire in Florida.

  12. Brandonbucc Says:

This team sucks and Winfield got his bag and been sandbaging ever since.

  13. Gipper Says:

Don’t think this guy matters. He and Winfield both overrated. Neither one could start for the Cowboys. Paying Winfield Jr big money was a mistake. He should peel off some and make sure it goes to Godwn next year. Godwin is a much more valuable player.

  14. Woodenman Says:

Have another beer Anthony or did you just have your last and passed out .

    Too many p o p u p s Joes.

  19. Zoocomics Says:

Are we expected to see Shaq on the field tomorrow?

  20. ElioT Says:

@Colin – why? They make the mobile experience so much better. It’s not like it’s 2025 right?

  21. Bojim Says:

    Maybe Jones wasn’t ready?

  22. Tony Says:

Kameron Johnson definitely has the talent to be a decent WR if they’d just use him more.

  23. NJbucs23 Says:

Johnson needs to stay healthy. He seems to be an injury prone player. I don’t be surprised if he gets injured tomorrow with something, since hasn’t played in while.

  24. Buchen61 Says:

    Im just glad we’re playing for the 3rd seed…. Ughmm division title… Ughmm wild card..ughmm a 500 season… Crap i give up

  25. firethecannons Says:

Buchen lol! no doubt! soon Joe will have us thinking we can get in the playoffs even if we lose tomorrow. we probably can but if we cannot beat the Panthers without Hubbard then forget it–may be best to hope for a new coach.

  26. Buchen61 Says:

    ‘Too many p o p u p s Joes.’

What… You arent looking for a leotard

  27. BucsFan81 Says:

Win or lose Bowles needs to go. The defense has been mismanaged all year. Shaq is not going to solve all the problems with this defense.

  28. garro Says:

Johnson!? There is a sure game wrecker move…. You gotta be kidding me!

    Go Bucs!

  29. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

This just in……..Johnson is the starting nose tackle and Vea is moving to WR#2.

  30. heyjude Says:

Good to have them back. Feeling the Bucs will be rocking today with Shaq being back on the roster too. The energy and vibe will have the right momentum. Surprised about Vi too. Wishing him the best of luck.

  31. adam from ny Says:

adam talks to joe at mons…

adam: “joe, is vi jones ready ?”

joe: “not at the moment adam”

  32. Jordan Says:

11 months to get ready and still a backup to JJ Russell and KJ Britt. Good riddance.

Maybe Deion Jones can fill that Sirvocea Dennis role of the nickel backer given we are still thin in secondary until Winfield is back.

If he can even just take some of the load off of Britt, that would help. Britt was playing better earlier in year.
