“It’s Only A Good Feeling For One Week”
December 12th, 2024Hey, what happened to the 24-hour rule?
That’s an unwritten covenant within most NFL teams. Don’t cry about a win for more than one day and don’t think about a victory beyond 24 hours.
A day after a game, it’s all business and no feelings.
So, Joe was a little surprised to hear Todd Bowles say of Sunday’s win against the Raiders to sieze first place in the NFC South, “It’s only a good feeling for one week.”
Man, it’s hard to believe that steady Bowles seemed to drift from his always-even path to acknowledge a feeling beyond a day after a game. The comments came on Bowles’ Buccaneers Radio Network radio show.
Joe thinks the comment speaks to the great relief within the Bucs’ organization.
The coffee tastes the better. Nagging injuries don’t hurt as much. The empty seats at The Licht House are less offensive.
“The Bucs Life” is far better when the team controls its destiny and can put the painful two losses to the Falcons this season in the rear view mirror.
It’s only a good feeling for one week.

Confidence is good. Overconfidence is bad. No confidence is the worst.

Seriously? Are you parsing his words that ridiculously?

Bad News, folks. Clueless Todd is facing a top 5 NFL level coach this weekend. This will end poorly for the clueless Todd’s. Chargers 40 Yucs 17. Bucs rush for under 100 yards and Bad Baker shows up with 4 picks.

I would be impressed with Coach Bowles if he can go to LA and outcoach and get the victory of Harbaugh. If there are any errors with coaching: lack of timeouts used, not going for 2 and a chance to win, playing soft ass zone coverage and letting a QB throw at will are all things that will trigger me in the comments section on Sunday.
Much like Baker in the 2nd quarter this year- 10 INTs- to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man.
It’s cool we can scrape by to a 7-6 record in the sh!t mountain division of football, but it would be truly impressive if we could go to the west coast and win a game.
Hoping Khalil Mack doesn’t throw Wirfs like a rag doll this time. Lol that play is unreal.

He finally said something smart. Bowles actually has to go out and finally beat a team with a better record and coach than him and he can’t depend on coen this week like he has the entire season. An Atlanta win against the Raiders with a Bucs loss and he’s right back in second place tied at 7-7. I’m curious though because the injured players crowd are loud but I wonder how acceptable that excuse would be if Bucs are in second place. Make no mistake I want them to win not for Bowles sake but just to prove there’s talent on the roster and injuries are no excuse for the losses. These aren’t rookies and undrafted guys, these are players he’s decided to hold on to and develop soooo that’s a part of coaching

IMHO. The Chargers have a good ground game. The Bucs will need to control the clock with a better ground game. Sustained drives ending in points! Keep LA’s O off the field. The Bucs O can’t go 3 and out too often if they want a W. The Bucs defense needs find ways to to get off the field on 3rd and 4th downs. The Bucs control their own destiny. Time to play like a playoff team!!!!

^^^^^^
This isn’t said enough. The media asks players for comments in an instant. They don’t time to prepare or consider. Just shoot from the hip. Then, the media takes that random synaptic firing and completely overanalyzes it. It’s the worst position to be in.

Jack and Sly, agreed. Thought the same thing. Little to heavy handed imo but gets clicks as well. I do think that they should be happy to be in the position there in but it’ll only last one week maybe if they don’t focus enough or work hard enough at practice. I’d be motivated that way as a player. No need to bring up only what they did well or sit back and reminisce. Be grateful and focus because they have no room for error. I know Lavonte, Baker and Mike will be putting those messages out there. Just hope Baker can stay focused on game day and make good choices.

“Without confidence, you will always find a way not to win.” – Carl Lewis
Winning is a great thing and it should be enjoyed and celebrated.
However, very little if anything changes because of it.
Just because you are bad on a certain day doesn’t mean you are bad all together.
The same can be said when you have a good day.
Confidence reminds you that you always have the potential to be good no matter what happens.

Looks like Izien, Shepherd, and Bucky missed the open period of practice today… If Izien and Shep can’t go Bucs would need a miracle to win on Sunday.
