Is Sunday A Trap Game For The Chargers?
December 13th, 2024Is the Bucs-Chargers game on Sunday setting up for a trap game for Los Angeles?
Think about it: Last week Los Angeles played Kansas City. The Chargers still had a prayer of winning the division. So you know they put in 100 percent preparation and effort.
No, the Chargers didn’t win. In fact, their star quarterback Justin Herbert got beat up with a leg injury. And he sprained another ankle. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh is convinced Justing Herbert will play against the Bucs.
But what about four days later?
Los Angeles hosts Denver. Both teams are currently 8-5. The Chargers beat the Broncos earlier in the year. So beating the Broncos would give the Chargers a playoff tiebreaker. So that’s an important game.
Now Joe knows no matter how much coaches will deny it, they pay attention to a Thursday night game a week out. Some teams will even split time to go over gameplans in practice with their teams for an upcoming Thursday game while also preparing for Sunday.
Yes, Sunday is important for both the Bucs and the Chargers. But with the Chargers playing the Bucs sandwiched by two serious division rivals with a tiebreaker at stake in the span of 11 days, and having a quarterback limping arounde, might the Bucs catch a break with perhaps Los Angeles looking ahead?
You know, a good ol’ fashioned trap game!

I smell what you’re cooking Joe and hey, you may truly be on to something. In fact to at least some degree, that’s Exactly Right.
I’d say the odds are in our favor due to the Chargers likely (to at least some degree), are “mentally” biting off more than they can chew by not focusing 100% on a VERY HUNGRY Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. It’s human nature to try to think ahead while desperately trying to figure out how to kill “Two Birds with One Stone”. (Or is that Three?)
Nicely pointed out Joe

Harbaugh is to good of coach to fall into a “trap game”. We will be outcoached again on Sunday. Just hope Baker can keep from making any more turn overs. Charger defense is really tough (15.9 points per game allowed) no room for errors.

Baker plays poorly against good defenses. Our run game better be on point to hurl him alleviate that problem because our defense won’t give them much help unless David and Tykee Smith can make done great plays

Bucs have 170 yards rushing and win by 10

It might be a trap game for the Bucs, They love to beat a team like the Chargers and then come back and lay an egg against a crappy team.

It all depends on Super Coach. Best coach in the world.
December 13th, 2024 at 6:36 am
Trap games happen to coaches who aren’t capable of keeping a team focused and determined against lesser opponents. I wonder which coach falls into that category?

I hardly think either team is viewing the other team as a laydown, easy win – something that most people say is a major component of a trap game.

Good coached teams don’t fall for trap games

As an 8 win team at this point of the season it is almost a given to make the playoffs barring a collapse like PHI in 2023. With the AFCW already decided both DEN and LAC will have to go on the road. Incentive for both is BAL is sitting at 8 wins also and going to play somewhere warm against the Texans as the 5 seed is better than going somewhere cold like PIT as the 6th or BUF as the 7th.

What the Chargers do is irrelevant. Bucs have to win. Baker needs a perfect game like he had last year at Lambeau.

“Baker needs a perfect game like he had at Lambeau” Agree ! If Baker has that perfect game, it’s gonna be a beautiful day in LA !!
Go Bucs Beat the Chargers!!

The Bucs can’t afford to hope for trap game, they need to win out, starting with the Chargers.

Chris Godwin’s injury was catastrophic to this offense. Baker’s security blanket is gone. He was having a first team All Pro year before that F’ng Ravens game.

I keep seeing ppl say Harbaugh is a such a good coach.. what makes him that good of a coach? Even seen someone comment a top 5 coach.. how? A players coach..yes but a great coach/top 5? Not sold after 1 year back in the big leagues

baker plays poorly against good defenses?
December 13th, 2024 at 9:05 am
everybody falls into trap games
December 13th, 2024 at 9:20 am
it should be a tough game…but there is a slim chance we go in there, like with green bay late last season, and just play a statement game and throw and azz whoopin’ to a good football team…
slim, but it could happen…we have beaten some good team’s azzes this year…granted, mostly early on…but we might be due for a big road win at this point…don’t bet on it…but ya never know 🙂

if we win this one…we are facing bback to back trap games…
4 wins in a row and then going to dallas for SNF…trap game for sure…
and then carolina at home…
more like a trap house than a trap game
