“I’m Finally Starting To Feel Like Myself Again”

December 17th, 2024

There was the stunning one-hand touchdown grab against Carolina two weeks ago, the hurdle of a Raiders defender last week and Sunday’s explosion in Los Angeles.

Mike Evans is back, baby! However, Evans made it sound Sunday like he’s not firing full throttle yet but he’s damn close.

“You know, I’m finally starting to feel like myself again,” Evans told the Buccaneers Radio Network in the happy Bucs locker room. “Had that time off, getting back in the swing of things and I’m feeling pretty good.”

And that’s damn exciting for Joe. While Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht said Mike Evans was “100 percent” weeks ago and Todd Bowles said Evans had a green light on the field, Joe wasn’t buying that Evans’ was his best self. So it seems the best of 2024 Mike Evans is yet to come.

At the perfect time.

    Mama, there’s that man again…

  2. Jethro Tull Says:

Oh baby. Take us to church Mikey! 200 yards against the JerryCows would be so sweet. Go ahead, play single coverage on him. Liam and Baler dare you.

  3. A Bucs Fan Says:

It would be awesome to see a 200 yard game on SNF

  4. Durango 95 Says:

Not hard to make the argument that Mike Evans is the greatest player in the history of this franchise. Amazing player and by all accounts a honorable man. And I have seen them all.

  5. TheMightyVH Says:

Big Mike! LFG. Whip them Cowboys!

  6. HomerSimpsonRocks Says:

240 and 4 TDs this week would be rad.

  7. gp Says:

Ten plus targets and let nature take care of the rest!

  8. A Bucs Fan Says:

    @Homer that’s video game numbers.

  9. Jethro Tull Says:

Pleasant surprise to see JMac blossoming after doing his best Kenny Bell impersonation for most of the season. That will at least give pause to the concept of doubling Mike every play. And…..run the ball. Work with Tucker on his ball security and blocking. As in, coaching. Something rare and necessary. But seemingly working along the offensive line. Expand.

    Firt ballot HOF.

    Looked strong.

Joe, Ive been binge listening to Bucs Total Access. Dean and Kancey gave some fun insight that typical interviews don’t pull out of em. But the biggest takeaway for me is how much respect these guys have for Bowles. I felt like I took away a lot about Todd that we don’t see as fans. I am genuinely considering voting with confidence about Bowles next poll. Also, he’s shown some willingness to change his in-game adjustments and game management based on results as of late.

Final thought- M1K3 is hitting 1150 yds. Going to breeze thru 1k.

  13. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Saw some of that interview with Dean on total access!! Have a different perspective on Dean, thought he was some clueless dope smoking @#$%$. Actually, very intelligent and never realized he has no sacks in his whole career!! I guess he doesn’t get paid to rush but on the other hand he is the fastest guy on the team, maybe a blitz once in a while Bowles… Go Bucs

  14. MJ Says:

he just needs to lead and yell at the defense if the cowboys get up on us!!

    then catch another 150yds

theory: The bucs want to help Mike get the record and that in turn will propel the Bucs into the playoffs bc when Evans is very involved the offense is firing!!

So very happy that Mike is feeling himself again! He looked great on Sunday.

  16. JimBobBuc Says:

I think the energy from JMac and Shepard is rubbing off on Mike. He seems very energized. Being healthier, pushing for 1k, and the need to win have us seeing the best in HOF Mike.

The Cowboys are trending toward better play and can’t be taken lightly. The Bucs can’t afford a letdown after the big win against the Chargers. The Bucs have a chance in primetime to show how good they are to the nation. Trample America’s team!

Been following Baker his whole career. Kudos to Licht and Bowles to invite Baker to be Baker. But Mike has been the key to the Baker resurgence we’ve seen. Mike has given Baker that little extra that’s made this team what it is what it can be. I knew Evans from his college days but had no idea how good he was. Wow! Baker looks to Mike for guidance and Baker usually isn’t like that. Mike and Baker both ultimate team players, competitors, and still play football like they would do it for free. They love the game and it’s obvious. Baker is lucky to have found this team. But he’s really, really lucky to have found Mike Evans.

ME13 is playing almost like his rookie year. Good to see it. Now, go beat some Cowtrash!

  19. #1bucsfan Says:

He’s really starting to hit on all cylinders at the perfect time. The offense its hitting the right gears now and man what it would look like if we had Godwin

  20. Carl Leonard Says:

What an amazing player no matter who’s thrown him the ball. Great team player , great community guy. Man of the year. Come on. So blessed to have been able to see it the last 10 seasons. Fortunately he is not done!! Let’s go bucs
