Giving The Bully His Own Medicine

December 15th, 2024

Dynamite game.

The thing Joe loved so much about this win by the Bucs today was how the Chargers wanted to play smashmouth football and Todd Bowles and his gang flew into town and showed the Chargers how to win with their own formula.

And that, Mike Evans told Joe, was what won the game for the Bucs.

Let’s face it: After Baker Mayfield threw a pick in the second quarter, most Bucs fans feared the worst.

But the defense got a three-and-out and it was just a preview of what was to come.

“We knew what to expect coming in,” Evans said in the happy Bucs locker room. “We knew [the Chargers are] a talented team that plays hard. But we knew we were the more talented team. We just had to match their physicality.

“We ran the ball. We hit our passes. ‘Bake’ made a lot of great plays with his legs. And our defense did their thing.”

They certainly did.

In the second half with Los Angeles star quarterback Justin Herbert clearly hobbled, it was like a shark smelling blood in the water.

The Bucs defense, with Ryan Neal on the field who was sitting on his couch watching football just a few days ago, acted as if they were the 2002 Bucs defense.

The Bucs simply pounded the Chargers. It was a beautiful thing.

Evans seemed to think today’s game was a taste of more to come.

“We have a very talented team,” Evans said. “We are very excited to be playing for one another this late in the season.”

Mike is smelling blood in the water. Looks like he is ready to assert dominance in these next few and cruise over 1000. I kept saying do it in 16 not 17 or else asterisk, but I forget that he missed a couple games.

Great game, now hopefully they keep their foot on the gas. They can’t get too high and be flat next week.

really good azz whoopin’ of those super chargers…

we almost seem better than our actual record…

if not for that momentary second quarter meltdown, which def resulted in 7 points for san diego off the baker int…and the super chargers going tit for tat with us early on, as both teams marched down the field for an early td —–> we whooped on their muddy fuggin’ azzes

I was listening on an LA station and the announcers whined almost every sentence. They just thought we played great. It was so weird to hear.

David’s 2nd sack going through 2 blockers was one of the best I’ve ever seen. He was a monster all day. HOF tape game.

mike and bake looking on point today…!

and bake and mcmillan are looking to have found a good connection of late…good to see…

shep has been a vital cog in recent post bye weeks, but now with mcmillan getting in the mix, the offense looks to be breathing easier

Was good to see so many Buc fans sitting in the stands.

I called this game earlier on the do you Think Tampa Bay will win this game post. I said Mike Evans will have over 95 yards receiving and it will be like the New Orleans game as in running.

We got to keep it together…one game at a time….

We’re nothing until we prove we’re something….keep that mindset and stay focused my guys. Usually when we have a big win, we lose the next game. So celebrate a little but take this next one serious against those cowgirls….

Our Bucs, as a team, were quite physical today. They hit. They tackled. They blacked, and they ran.

    I’m quite impressed.

The Bucs said “Anything you can do we can do better” and they sho nuff did. We can over come turnovers and the defense is playing better

  13. Itzok Says:

Chargers took more of pounding than Lily Phillips taking a 100 in a day

  14. JimBobBuc Says:

Harbaugh seemed both shell-shocked, and envious of our offense, after pounding the Chargers in the second half.

LVD was a one man wrecking crew today .

The Bucs looked like they were having so much fun while going at the Chargers too. Evans was showing us who he is too, awesome! The entire team did so well. Baker’s moxie cracks me up while bringing it on.

JimBobBuc – I felt the same way too while seeing Harbaugh on the side line. Saw him gulp a few times.

Eating crow in dramatic fashion this morning. I fully expected the bubble to burst in LA.

The team we played looked completely different compared to the team I watched playing KC last week. Imagine if it’s TB KC in the SB again 😯

  19. New Fan Land Says:

The way the Bucs played, I think they would beat any team in the league. They are as good a team as any in the league on their best days. A lot of their worse days revolve around Makers bad days, and even his worst days this season were decent days. He is becoming more and more consistent, and I honestly think they have a shot if they maintain the course. It’ll be hard, but I bet it happens within his current contract and I bet he retires with more then one SB ring.
