Falcons Win; Up Record To 8-7

December 22nd, 2024

Time to step up.

Yes, Joe suffered through the Giants-Falcons game this afternoon.

Thankfully, the football gods invented beer, whiskey and chocolate chip cookies.

Atlanta bumped its record to 8-7 with a 34-7 thrashing of the tanking Giants.

Joe hoped to get a good look at Falcons rookie QB Michael Penix in his first NFL start, but the game basically was over before Penix could land in pressure situations. Giants QB Drew Lock turned the ball over three times early in the game, including a pick-6 two plays into the third quarter that put Atlanta up 24-7. That was Lock’s second pick-6 of the day.

Penix finished 18-of-27 for 202 yards with 1 interception. He certainly didn’t look special. Yeah, Joe gets that it was a debut start.

Regardless, the Falcons win means the Bucs (8-6) must beat Dallas tonight to continue controlling their own destiny. Atlanta owns the head-to-head tiebreaker on the Bucs by virtue of beating the Bucs twice in October.

I’m pretty sure the local pee wee football team could beat the Giants. If we win tonight. It will not matter. One game behind is one game behind. Let’s keep it that way. I’m looking at you Defense!! ! 👀

  2. Bucs 95 Says:

The NFL did us dirty by scheduling both games against atlanta in the same month 😒

  3. Jeffrey Becker Says:

that’s why they started lock haha

  4. Jeffrey Becker Says:

falcons didn’t exactly show much offense

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Wash won…so this is a must win game

  6. Tbbucs3 Says:

The Commanders should be able to take care of the Falcons next week….

But it is slightly concerning that the Cowboys and Panthers are starting to play better. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Bucs drop 1 and this race comes down to the end.

  7. HC Grover Says:

Panters beat Cards too. This will come down to the Stanks game. Bucs are must win 2nite. If Falcons beat the Commodes next week look out.

  8. BucVoyager Says:

Take care of your own business and it won’t matter what others do.

  9. rrsrq Says:

Falcons defense look different, Panthers not laying down, Saints well are the Saints, this Cowboys game is critical

  10. Elite Vita Says:

It seems that the Cowboys are officially out of playoff contention now. Will that effect their motivation in tonight’s game vs the Buccaneers?

  11. dbbuc711 Says:

To me, tonight is a must win

  12. Kayla Says:

The Bucs will lose big tonight, and the Falcons are going to win out (Washington looks terrible and lucked out the last two games). Both teams finish at 10-7. So, Bucs miss playoffs. The inexcusable loses to the Falcons tanked the season and I said so at the time. New HC talk of the bitter offseason.

  13. Pmike Says:

Man that falcons game was indeed hard to watch. If it wasn’t for Locke’s two Pick 6’s, I think they would have played much more competitively. Falcons certainly looked like trash.

These next three games will very much help us prepare for playoff football (if we run the table). Glad that the panthers and saints are playing better, as the last thing we need is for this team to get lured into a false sense of reality, whooping on bad teams. The better the teams in our remaining schedule is, the better the Bucs will play

    Go Bucs

Lol. Easy dude. That was just the early game. The big game with a late start is yet to come. You don’t want to be peeling yourself off the floor of JBF world HQ’s mid 4th qtr.

  15. Kidfloflo Says:

Cowboys officially eliminated from Playoff chance! Hopefully that lessens the fire and intensity they have tonight

The way tonight’s game is lining up, it feels like a Game the Bucs usually get embarrassed in!

  19. nobs Says:

    y’all are giving them a “
w” way to easily! this will
come down to the last min , bucs lose 31-28 they will not go over 100 yds rushing mostly because durham can’t block

  20. Bartow Buc Says:

We have to go with what we know !! The Buccaneers offense has been red hot pretty much all season and has been able to score a lot of points. Even when facing adversity the offense has demonstrated the ability to overcome the adversity. So against the Cowboys tonight the Bucs offense will continue to utilize coach Coen’s complex explosive offense to pound that rock, and gain huge chunks of yardage passing the ball.

On the defensive side of the ball the Bucs defense is beginning to make a name for itself by being able to successfully implement the schemes of our Super Bowl winning defensive minded coach, Todd Bowles. For example holding the Chargers to 17 points on their home turf last week.

So if we go with what we know, Bucs hold the Cowboys to 20 or less and score over 30 points !!

It’s gonna be another fun game to watch !! Hang on to your chairs !!

Go Bucs !! Beat the Cowboys!!

  21. Jeffrey Becker Says:

will cowboys sit everyone now? cards out, 49ers out too. geeez

  22. Oneilbuc Says:

I hope I’m worng but I think we lose this game we play bad in prime time games. Baker Mayfield is 1-8 in prime time games but if we lose and we don’t make playoffs Bowles will be gone. Now I hope we win this game though and I will be rooting for my bucs. This is why teams like the Broncos and 49ers we should have won those games because they all ways come back to hunt us at the end of the season. Let’s go bucs please prove me wrong!!

  23. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

The Falcons vs Giants game was never in doubt as a Falcons win. IMO it was the perfect team (one that doesn’t want to win any more games this season) to pick as the NFL debut for Penix to build some confidence before playing two teams (well, at least one) that actually may want to win a game. Giants (and Raiders) were scheduling gifts when Atlanta got them. Two teams with HC’s whose fates are likely already sealed and only interested in winning the #1 draft pick/lottery ticket for a franchise QB to energize their respective fan bases. Unfortunately for the Bucs, I think Jerry Jones will want his team to play hard at home and on national TV. Plus McCarthy’s seat is a bit hot, so he probably needs to show ownership he’s not washed as a HC. Still think we’re the better team, but gonna have to play well on all phases of the game.

  24. MadMax Says:

Yup, theyre goona win the nfc south….we’re nothing…UNLESS WE DO SOMETHING….WAKE UP AND LETS DO THIS!!!!!!!!

  25. El HEFE Says:

The nfl really effed us with the sketchy calls in the falcons games both of them and blame todd all yu want for KC but be for real watch the game over so many calls without evidence

zakly toes. gave him a practice start and said easy tiger

  27. toopanca Says:

First, the Bucs must play Dallas tonight.

But, I am wondering about the Saints. The Saints play Green Bay tomorrow night.

Last week, trailing 17-0 with 8:12 left in the third quarter, the Saints pulled their starting QB and put in Rattler. Ratttler led the Saints on a 19-3 run passing for a touchdown as time expired, cutting the Commanders’ lead to one point. Rather than trying to kick the extra point to tie the game (at home on a 19-3 run), the Saints tried to win with a two point conversion with no time left on the clock; Rattler’s pass was incomplete, and the Commanders escaped with the victory.

If Rattler and the Saints play Green Gay tomorrow the way they did with Rattler leading them against the Commanders, Green Bay could be in trouble tomorrow, and Tampa could have it rough in two weeks against the Saints.

Likewise, the Panthers beat the Cardinals today and the Cowboys last week. The were defeated in the three previous games by six points or less as they lost to three division leaders; the Chiefs, the Bucs and the Eagles. They are only 4-11 on the season, but they seem to be peaking at an inauspicious time for the Bucs who face them next week. The silver lining may be that the second place Falcons face the Panthers the following week to round out the regular season.

So, a couple of games with division rivals that looked like run of the mill games a couple of weeks ago are now looking like they could be very tough games.

‘ames. Baker Mayfield is 1-8 in prime time games’

    He’s 4-0 on Thursday night games…????

  29. Buchen61 Says:

Correction 4-2 in primetime Thursday games

  30. Buchen61 Says:

Looking for an overall primetime record but haven’t found it only saw i falcons fan comment on Reddit that hes 0 and 8 in his last 8 but unconfirmed

  31. BallHawk75 Says:

When Bowles finds a way to lose, I’ll be there saying that I told you so.

This is where the true coach comes out in him.

It would be classic Bowles to lose the game and say that everything is fine.

Could be an epic bed wetting.

Let’s hope we can outscore the bumbling idiot.

  32. GoneGator Says:

When Bowles finds a way to lose, I’ll be there saying that I told you so.

What did you think was going to happen last week? Just wondering.

  33. Pewter Pirate Says:

    Atlanta will lose to Washington

  34. orlbucfan Says:

It’s sad if this league is so corrupt teams play down so they can get a draft pick. No reason for the Giants to throw in the towel even if Hotlanta was the better team. No matter cos Bucs know they have to win tonight.

  35. Pewter Pirate Says:

    Buccaneers 34 Cowboys 20

  36. Simeon4HOF Says:

Dallas eliminated oughtta have cowgurls hurtin, they are emotional. And the Aints get to travel to Tampa on a short week

    Bucs 31 – dallas 13

  38. Bring back the lawn chairs Says:

The Bucs do like to fold up the tent in prime time regular season games against starting back up quarterbacks you know. I’m hoping we don’t breakout the infamous Tampa 2 lawnchair defense we can so proudly display in prime time again.🤞

  39. Pittbucfan Says:

Beer, whiskey, rum & tequila are proof God loves us! LFG Bucs!!!

  40. Mac Says:

Simeon we don’t play the Saints next week so don’t get them on a short week. Let’s worry about tonight. Please Tampa show up and show out! Take care of business! Put to rest Toilet Bowles and Bakes awful prime time record!

  41. Pewter Pirate Says:

    Edwards back is huge. LFG!!!!

  42. Buddha Says:

This is the Cowboys Super Bowl. Tough out.

  43. Saskbucs Says:

A lot of negativity in here. Unless the D doesn’t show up at all tonight and Dowdle Lamb go nuts on us, you guys really think the Bucs, with our OL RBs and Evans arent gonna put points and be able to win a shootout. I don’t think the nighttime lights are gonna help Dallas that much.

Why is anyone talking about the Saints? Yeah they play us well at home but rookie QB, no kamara, no lattimore… Saints are gonna get smoked tomorrow. Jacobs prolly going for 150+.

  44. Simeon4HOF Says:

Mac thanks thougt we ended with carolina mb

  45. Cobraboy Says:

  48. Again Says:

Todd 500 Bowles had these guys ready to fall asleep at 8 pm. I think it’s past Todd’s bedtime

  49. RVATom Says:

Hey how weird is it that Todd Bowles D can’t hold the middle.of the field? Anyone who thinks this team can make a playoff run is out.of theor mind. The defense is horrible unless they play a terrible qb or the other team is constantly playing from 15yds off the flags.

Hatin on them Falcons will do us no good. They had an ace in the hole. And they are using it. We now must win out. And of you think we are gonna run over our 2 last teams? Think again.
