Cade Otton Is Out For Cowboys Game

December 21st, 2024

Out.

Not good news for a guy who is key to the Bucs offense and is having a career year.

Tight end Otton was doubtful on the Bucs’ injury report for the Cowboys game tomorrow night. Now it is worse: He’s out.

Otton has a knee injury and the only practice he participated in this week was Friday. He was limited in that practice.

Otton is a workhorse, logging 92 percent of the offensive snaps this season. Only Ben Bredeson (99.6 percent), Cody Mauch (99.6 percent) and Baker Mayfield (99.1 percent) have played a higher percentage.

    Huge huge loss.

  4. Dewey Selmon Says:

Cowboys will double up Evans for sure now.

  5. A Bucs Fan Says:

I want Mike to get his 1K as much as any fan but I want them to win first. The Cowboys run defense can be had had and Payne and Ko can run block. I expect another 150-200 yard rushing performance from our RB’s.

  9. Mr. Editor Says:

Terrible news, but there are lots of ways to win a football game. Cade Otton doesn’t play defense, so start there. Cooper Rush must go down and go down hard.

  10. Saskbucs Says:

Otton out is a minor detail. Yeah the other guys might not be as reliable out there running routes but Otton isn’t known for his blocking prowess. Stick one of the other 3 in there to block and I am sure they are more than capable of splitting off for screens or short routes.

Go ahead and double Mike all game. I wanna see him get yards but I will gladly watch the Bucs RBs go wild if they put to many defensive resources towards stopping Evans and the pass.

  11. RamblingRhino Says:

Tough to lose Otton, but get healthy, and we can see how our other TE’s play and know our depth a lot better, moving forward. I want to see Culp play. Hit him moving down the middle and watch him fly….

Defense will need to be stout and give our Offense the ball back as often as they can without giving up points..

They are the next team up, we should be focused on beating them… Then the next team up. After we play the cowboys… Stay focused, hit them hard with our running game play action passes, and screens Deep to Evans and his younger understudy WR’s..

  12. CleanHouse Says:

What about the guy who makes plays like gronk?

  13. CleanHouse Says:

    Payne Durham

  14. Pewter Power Says:

Hey licht let us see if that Devin Culp pick was a waste

  15. BucsfaninOregon Says:

This is one more reason to draft a TE in second round at least. Since he started to catch balls thrown to him, look how much many think we will miss him. A top rated offense usually has a TE fully integrated into it.

If he was out at the beginning of the season I doubt any would care.

  16. JimBobBuc Says:

It’s tough to lose Otton but he’s overworked. I think Durham will do well if we target him. Maybe he will be our secret weapon and ball out? If so, his new name should be Pain Durham. I’d like to see Dev targeted too, to see what he can do. LFG!

  17. GoneGator Says:

Chance for J-mac to keep building confidence and getting targets, especially since they’ll be doubling Mike a lot of the time. Shep could get a few extra looks too.

I expect a Culp sighting along with Payne and Ko holding down the TE position just fine.

  18. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Really sad to hear Cade is out. He has been absolutely terrific for this team this year. Next man up! Payne Durham – you need to be big tomorrow night.

  19. NJbucs23 Says:

    Well #82. Let’s go !

  20. gotbbucs Says:

Sucks to have Otton out, but excited to see Payne Durham.

  21. orlbucfan Says:

Cripes, this Buc Luck/walking wounded is getting ridiculous! Got a feeling White. Bucky will be catching balls. Going to see what moves Coen pulls outta his hat.

  22. heyjude Says:

It’s sad to lose Otton for this game, however we will have him for the next one and healthier.

Agree with orlbucfan, alvin, Rhino, gotbucs, JimBobBuc, GoneGator, and others. Not to worry because it’s possible that Devin and Payne will shine tonight. Dewey and others are right too. Mike will probably be doubled up tonight.

  23. garro Says:

Here is your shot Mr. Duham! Been lobbying for Durham to get some targets for weeks. Now is the time. I think he will surprise some folks.

    Go Bucs!
