Cade Otton Is A Gametime Decision; Antoine Winfield Is Out

December 20th, 2024

One of the best tight ends in the game, Cade Otton, (yes, Cade Otton) has a bad knee and will be a gametime decision on Sunday night, per Todd Bowles’ comments after practice today.

Otton has only missed one game in his career, as a rookie in 2022, so this would be a standout loss.

Yes, No. 2 tight end Payne Durham has had a good blocking season, and Joe thinks he’d catch a bunch of balls if the Bucs threw his way. In very limited opportunities, Durham has shown a flair for special catches. No. 3 Ko Kieft is a capable blocker, as well, and rookie Devin Culp has barely played.

Joe’s not concerned about the Bucs’ ability to beat Dallas on Sunday without Otton. But he’s certainly a necessary piece for the postseason.

The only Buccaneer confirmed “out” for the game (not on injured reserve) is stud safety Antoine Winfield Jr. He’s dealing with a sprained knee and missed last Sunday’s game.

Joe…. do you just not post comments by some of us, but allow dozens and dozens of comments by others, to try and make a point?

Do you just want those of us who don’t always agree with your opinion, and express why with logical points, to go away?

Should I consider writing a comment here a waste of my time, knowing you won’t publish it?

It’s been going on for days if not weeks….. maybe 1 out of 6-8 of my comments have been published.

As long as comments are not “Crimes Against Joe” they are all published outside of banned posters.

I realize it shouldnt be this way but I am relieved that Antoine is out. I know it is because of his foot injury but really was terrible at coverage this season and was one of the reasons the Bucs were being burned. I hope for the betterment of the team that his foot is healed up also when he returns and can get back to form.

  4. GoneGator Says:

I may disagree with you Joe but I try to do so respectfully.

It’s harder to respect some of our regulars but I do try to understand their point of view, if they put at least a little thought in to what they’re typing. And try to be civil.

Sorry to hijack the thread… Topic is Cade and injuries.

Hopefully our safeties will hold up 🤞🏼and when AW gets back he’ll be a difference maker down the stretch (if we keep winning).

Liam name dropped Culp in his last press conference. Made me think he may be prepping him for some touches. If he can block he could be yet another weapon for Coen to deploy, assuming he’s a better receiver than Payne or KK. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him (for the 1st time?) in some packages against the cowboys.

Hope Cade plays, he will be needed in the Pony packages. Think Coen was also using three tight ends to counteract the Chargers D line last week.

Trying to squeeze out a comment on this site is like trying to squeeze out a pimple on an overly ample butt cheek. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t.

So for all of those that happen not to be mind readers they can happily type away knowing that what they write is nothing more than a waste of their time.

I guess that’s one way to treat your regular readership.

Sorry. Joe doesn’t have a comment rules doctrine to read. Many words are off-limits are malicious commentary about Joe and Joe’s business, or ascribing motives to Joe’s comments. Misrepresention of Joe’s takes and business is also something Joe won’t usually invest time correcting and will just delite. Sometime veering way off course is no good. Also, there are legions of banned posters and IP addresses, and sometimes the software can be picky as it interprets who is who. Joe suggests not taking commenting here very seriously. Sometimes Joe even limits the number of comments per person per day. –Joe

    Do not play him injured….

@Durango you’re missing the point. As a long-time commenter Joe treats people fairly. He has to dig them out of moderation himself and often explains why he can’t allow certain comments. He also gives a fair warning when one of us crosses a boundary. Even with being fair this website is their HOUSE so they (the Joe’s) can do whatever they want with our comments.

Understood. Hard to imagine any fair minded person could rationally make an argument against any of that. My concern has been incidents of posts of a certain “flavor” have gone missing, Which happened to me recently. Not going to try to hijack the thread nor belabor the point. I’ll just proceed as normal, dismiss it as a technical glitch and see how things flow. Thanks.

Rest Cade up. He’s proven to be a YAC weapon as well as a much improved blocker.

Try limiting Citrus County guy must have had 20 comments in one thread the other day.

Citrus guy is sucking down to much ascorbic acid I bet he doesn’t even know that Florida citrus groves r melting due to disease

  15. JustVisiting Says:

Once I accidentally made a post about Baker that was factually incorrect. Joe caught the error before I did and deleted it, which I appreciated.

  16. orlbucfan Says:

Lay off Citrus County. He’s a genuine long time, long suffering Bucs fan like me and quite a few others. He also isn’t semi-literate. I enjoy his comments even though I don’t always agree with him. This blog belongs to the Joes. They set the rules. If it bugs you, skip the blog. I almost quit the NFL after Harbaugh cheated and knocked out CG14. That had nothing to do with Joe. I cooled off and came back.

  17. BucU Says:

If Cade is out that’s big trouble. Also who would’ve thought that Whitehead and Winfield would have totally insignificant impacts on the Bucs season? They’re both bitter disappointments this year.

  18. Zwak Says:

Rest them all if we are up by 17 in the fourth quarter! Keep your eye on the bigger prize..

  19. Jeffrey Becker Says:

Culp is more of a hybrid wideout with great speed for a guy his size but questionable hands and the innate ability to make circus catches. we’ll prolly go heavy and run a lot to limit turnovers in hopes of grinding the clock and keeping the defense fresh. Durham could have a big game though, especially if the D is as soft as it appears on paper

  20. Jeffrey Becker Says:

healthy edge rushers though 🙂 just heard myles garrett is available

We can survive a game without Otton if we need to.

Injuries have plagued the team all year. It isn’t just Whitehead and Winfield.

So long as the are healthy and play well in the playoffs, I’ll be satisfied.
