Bucs Defense Good; Cowboys Offense Bad

December 20th, 2024

Good matchup for Bucs.

Buccaneers. Cowboys. NBC. Prime time. Mike Tirico. Cris Collinsworth. Carrie Underwood. The Bucs go from Hollywood to Big Tex on Sunday night.

And will this be the game everyone accepts the Bucs defense is back to its old self?

Despite the Bucs having injuries all over the place on defense, even resorting to signing safety Ryan Neal (who two weeks ago was ringing a bell outside of Publix), the Bucs defense has played good football.

Don’t believe Joe? Well then believe Rich Hribar of Sharp Football Analysis. Easy scores are rarely allowed.

And that’s not good news for the Cowboys.

* Tampa Bay has allowed 1.51 points per drive over their past five games, 3rd in the league.

* Dallas has scored a touchdown on 11.5 percent of their possessions at home this season, 31st in the league.

So let’s see: The Cowboys cannot score and the Bucs the past five games aren’t letting teams score.

Joe likes that math!

Please don’t sleep on these guys. There are some playmakers on the Cowboys and they can surprise you. CeeDee and Turpin are ones to watch. Parsons is a wrecking machine.

  2. JimBobBuc Says:

The Bucs SHOULD win this game, but they have a habit of letdowns after big wins and playing down to the competition. What Bucs team will be see? – The team that played down to the Giants and Carolina? The team that lost the first half to the Chargers? Or the team that had one great half against the Chargers?

  3. Panhandle Buc Says:

It’s the game slot that worries me more than the team we are playing.

We are 0-3 this season in primetime games and I am pretty sure our entire primetime game record under Bowles (and franchise) is abysmal. I hope we can BUC that trend on SNF!!! LFB

  4. Buc4evr Says:

Bucs are Jekyll and Hyde, so who knows what they will do. Especially on prime time?

    Hope they stay focused…..

  5. Statistically Insignificant Reader Says:

If the Bucs trot out full of themselves from reading all the hype thinking we are going to show everyone….well…. Bucs faithful have seen what happens more times than not.
Hopefully Bowles has everyone focused, scoring early and often to keep the pressure on.

I hope they’re not back to their old selfs. They’ve actually been good despite all these dynamic offenses with unstoppable weapons they’ve been facing😑

  7. Bosch Says:

    What BakerFan said.

  8. Beeej Says:

Ryan Neal actually played a good game last week, got a PFF in the 70’s

  9. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

Bucs had a lot of injuries on defense early in the season. Most of the defense is healthy now and I think the stats are showing it. If Bucs can continue to remain healthy, I think they have a shot of going deep into the post season.

K.J. Britt was also a hug liability in the passing game. Credit to Bowles for changing the scheme and using safties to cover TE’s and RB during passing situations.

  10. Jackson Says:

I was surprised by the Bucs’ win last week against the Chargers. They typically struggle in West Coast games, so that performance was unexpected. However, I think a mental letdown is coming this week. There’s a lot of media hype surrounding them right now, and they’re the talk of major sports programs. Based on past experience, when this happens—and considering Bowles’ record against backup quarterbacks—it often leads to an ugly loss. The Cowboys, meanwhile, are still fighting for their playoff hopes. They have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, making them a dangerous team.

    Cowboys 27, Bucs 23

  11. Jethro Tull Says:

Expect Cooper Rush to look like Joe Burrow until he doesn’t. Trap game.

  12. JReel Buc Says:

    Fire Bowles Promote Coen!!!

  13. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

I’m ok with JJ Russell. Dude has a good game last week. Wish we had Winfield, Edward, and others back.

  14. ModHairKen Says:

Score early and often. Don’t get a punt blocked. Take nothing for granted. One loss coupled with an Atlanta win, changes everything.

  15. Lightningvinny Says:

Tough game,,, not a trap game at all ,, there is now way we are looking ahead to the Panthers ,,, this is Sunday night in Big D with all eyes on us,,,, Run the ball and by mid 3rd quarter those 2-4 yard runs will be 8-10,,, Oh and Todd Bowles , Mike McCarthy and Mike Zimmer,, 2015 called and they want their coaches back!

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

HYPE has a habit of severely letting one down hard. Our Defense has played one..ok maybe two decent games. And now we are world beaters? Not so fast. Never count a wounded animal out. Dallas will ball come Sunday night. We have to be ready.

  17. PSL Bob Says:

You can toss the scores and stats out the window every week. It’s a matter of the team being prepared, executing, and eliminating mistakes. The Bucs can easily win this game, but will they? And that’s why we’ll all be tuned in.

  18. First Last Says:

We need a close win so that we play better next week and then play crap the final week…. Which means we blow out our first opponent in the playoffs lol

  19. Chris K Says:

@Jimbob, we played down to the Giants? Do you even watch the games before you make a silly comment like that?

  20. SenileSenior Says:

If our team ignores the noise as usual we will be okay. We are December ready not November uncertain.

    Go Bucs!!

  21. orlbucfan Says:

Between Bowles, Coen, Baker, and team captains like LVD and ME13, the Bucs aren’t full of themselves. Bank on it. They’re focusing on Dallas. They have to be aware of Jones and the d###ed refs, too. I feel they will win game #5. Thank gawd for Bucs Radio cos I can not stand Cris Collingsworth!! I still remember him acting like he was eating rotten roadkill when the Bucs won their first SB. Loser.

  22. Jeffrey Becker Says:

jimBob weren’t the bucs up 23-0 at the half and 30-0 against the giants?

  23. GoneGator Says:

WTF – Joe, I think you have a typo in the title 🤣.
It says – “Bucs defense good”

Everybody knows the Bucs defense sucks…. Just ask the regular poo hunters or just wait for them to tell you even if you don’t ask.

  24. Cobraboy Says:

The more hype this team gets, the bigger the eggs they lay.

  25. Jethro Tull Says:

    Rotten road kill- excellent!

  26. VOT Says:

37-13 Bucs – time for the D to convert a TO to a score and add that threat to the playoff arsenal

  27. First Name Greatest Says:

Smart offensive coordinators will pass only against this soft zone COVER NO ONE scheme.

Defense is not good and neither is Todd Blows

  28. First Name Greatest Says:

Bucs crash and impending doom/stress over the last 2 games is coming

Thanks Todd, guy is the grinch to Bucs fans
