Bucky Irving Is Blowing Up The League

December 28th, 2024

Rookie leader.

Man, the more Joe thinks of it, the more Joe is impressed by what a total steal the Bucs got drafting rookie Bucky Irving in the fourth round.

Bucky is one of the best running backs in the league already, even though he’s not permitted to touch the football in the final minutes of close games.

Irving NFL for rookies in scrimmage yards, rushing yards and touchdowns.

That’s a well-rounded back.

Additionally, Irving averages 4.2 yards after contact. That’s nuts, especially considering how much initial contact he avoids. That also leads all running backs who have at least 50 carries.

So yeah, the way the Stinking Panthers cannot defend the run and the way Irving is slicing through defenses, Bucs offensive coordinator Liam Coen really should revisit his stance of not using Irving late in games because he’s not Anthony Muñoz.

The Bucs have their backs against the wall. They can’t play it safe any longer, not if they want to play meaningful football in January.

Throw it to Mike for 200 and 3td’s and we blow the Panthers out of the building early to let Tucker clean up the mess. Save Bucky playoffs or 2025

  2. Bucs Guy Says:

Should be top 3 in rookie of year behind Jayden Daniels and Bo Ni

  3. David Kilmer Says:

Definitely a great pic. Man just wish Licht could do that with d lineman.

  4. Dr. Bucenstein Says:

He is a special back. A mix of Warrick Dunn (size, quickness but not as fast) and Doug Martin ( yards after contact) And Emmitt Smith (elusiveness and vision).

He doesn’t have the blocking that Dunn or Smith had, or their durability or Dunn’s speed, but he is more elusive and his vision is like Emmitt Smith.

  5. Brandonbucc Says:

Winfield got that bag and sat out this season. Whitehead just hanging with his friend now….collecting money and not having to work. Happens every single time you pay someone top dollar. This team blows.

  6. Fred McNeil Says:

The kid was a great find. He alone can help insure Evans gets the bulk of his receiving yards. If they spend too much resources on Evans Irving will just kill them.

  7. Mrkidross Says:

Is Wirfs ankle injury bad I seen him get blown up a number of times in Dallas and not just by Parsons

    Score first.

    Play Defense.

    Throw to Mike Evans.

    Throw to Mike Evans.

F’ing force the ball to Mike Evans.

“…even though he’s not permitted to touch the football in the final minutes of close games.” Love the sarcasm Joe.

This very thing pisses me off every Sunday no matter the score near the end of the game. Get your best players the ball! Whew…I feel better. Thank you.

  16. Lt. Dan Says:

    Oh..and nice Anthony Muñoz reference.

  17. Vanessa Anne Says:

    GO Bucky GO!
    RUN Bucky RUN!
    SCORE Bucky SCORE!

  18. Bartow Buc Says:

The Panthers will see Bucky Irving and Rachaad White all day long. Hang on to that rock men !!

Go Bucs !! Beat the Panthers !!

  19. Saskbucs Says:

Bucs definitely need to come out running the ball. Run, Run, Run… for the first quarter and then play action and shots to Mike.

No Horn and Hubbard, I was thinking this will be another close game a week ago. Now off the loss to Dallas and Carolina missing those key pieces… I think the Bucs roll. Evans 120 and 1 or 2 TDs.

  20. Jethro Tull Says:

Bucky should be getting at least 15 carries and 5 targets a game, bare minimum. The Panthers game sets up for more, so probably Coach will order Bucky on the bench for some “good reason.”

  21. Tony Says:

Throw it to Rakim Jarrett & watch him take it to the house. He’s gonna have 10 CATCHES FOR 300 YARDS & 3 TDs. Then Trey Palmer will have 8 CATCHES FOR 120 YARDS & 1 TD. No I’m not celebrating New Year’s a little early & no I’m not suffering from a Christmas hangover. THERE’S STILL HOPE.👍😃

  22. Tony Says:

    @Jethro Tull

He’ll probably yank him if he finds out he’s got a chance at OROTY. We’ll have to start calling Bowles “CROSS EYED TODD” instead.😁

  23. Kieran Says:

BUCS Disrespected by BSPN and the NFL have a true Rookie of the year in #7
Running, passing game and YAC’s Buckey is a complete back as an offense weapon.

He gets 1,000 yards he’s the winner offense rookie of the year

    LFG!!!!

  24. JimBobBuc Says:

Bucky’s fumble rate (1 per 100 touches) is better than White (1 per 68 touches). So it’s time for RB coach Skip Peete to improve Bucky’s pass pro and get Bucky more red zone touches.

  25. GoneGator Says:

Bucky will get plenty of touches if we start fast passing and get a lead.

We need to clean up offensive penalties and the O-line and Baker need to be steady.
No more negative plays especially sacks.

Get J-Mac involved. Feed Mike. Check downs and screens to Bucky and Rachaad

*Have a “hot read” on every play.

Who knows which defense shows up but it’ll be good enough if we play 4 complete quarters offensively

  26. Badbucs Says:

Bucky is like Gibbs. You don’t burn the guy up with 20 touches a game. If you want Bucky to last all year and have a career of more than 4 years, you limit his touches with another bigger back taking half the load. He should damn sure have some end game touches though. Our RB group is pretty solid. Tucker could use some more reps too. We should not spend any draft capital upgrading this group. Spend the money on defense. Go Bucs!!!

  27. Tony Says:

    @BadBucs

Yeah that’s why it’s really surprising they don’t use Sean Tucker more & they still got DJ Williams there, too! He’s somebody else that they could use that’s a decent size RB, too! Just wish they’d use him more, too!

  28. Mac Says:

That Eagles game really screwed us last week. If Commanders don’t come back Bucs would still be in the driver’s seat. Instead we are staring at sitting on our couches waiting for the draft come 15 days from now.

  29. Saskbucs Says:

Bucky has 0 shot at OROY. He should be 4th behind Daniels, Bowers, Nix. You could convince me he should be 2nd behind Daniels based on his numbers and what he has meant to the Bucs this season but always tough to beat a QB. Where would Denver be without Nix?

Agreed that we need a Montgomery for our Gibbs. Can’t spend draft capital this season though. White and Tucker are not Monty.
