Tampa Bay answered the bell!
Take that, Todd Bowles haters. The Bucs hammered and hammered and hammered away at the Panthers for a total of 550-plus yards of offense.
The Bucs are now 9-7 in first place and awaiting the Falcons (8-7)-Commanders (10-5) game tonight.
What an offensive display. Baker Mayfield spread the ball around to nine targets and new names landed in the mix. No Cade Otton? No problem. Payne Durham rose up to grab 2 catches for 36 yards and his first NFL touchdown. Rookie Devin Culp had his first 3 catches of the year for 52 yards on four targets.
No superlative is too much for this Bucs offense. Bucky Irving busted 1,000 yards on the season with 20 carries for 113 yards, plus 4 catches for 77 yards.
Mike Evans had 8 catches for 97 yards but he should have had more.
Mayfield dropped 5 TDs on Carolina — 27-of-32 for 359 yards.
Some fans even consider Carolina to be a good team!
The Bucs defense showed a few ugly warts but did enough and found a pass rush.
In all, it was a special day. Joe’s so happy the home crowd got a gift for a change.

Let’s not pretend that Bowles’s hate isn’t warranted. He routinely chokes in big situations, has said how many times errors broke down because of communication, and now this time it’s been fundamentals. Bowles has haters, because he has earned them. Even you Joe’s have questioned him. Winning is a sweet smelling perfume, but we need some heavy duty cleaner to erase the stench of mediocre Head Coaching.

Disagree on this being a rebuke of those of who dislike Bowles. Carolina sucks with a capital wtaf. This defense is going to be eaten alive by everyone in the playoffs. It doesn’t matter. If the bucs get past the first round it will be because the other team lost, not because the bucs won in my opinion.

My answer is, th e defense is very good, when you really understand the kind of talent you have, besides Kancey LVD and Vea, the rest is mediocre at best…..
Bucs are playing with only one inside LB, no pass rush, really mediocre CB and your great Winfield he played really bad when healthy……..

Best Bucs game I have seen, I became a fan when Jameis was drafted (FSU alum) so 10 years? really Panthers have been playing good ball so this was a solid win. Defense stepped up with sacks, special teams blocked and scored, Baker was perfect. Run game was solid and everyone was very very good.

Shout out to Jason Light – whose ’24 NFL draft looks great. Jalen McMillan can flat out play – and oh how that must burn my Pat friends who are stuck with Polk.

Trask will move on. Whether he is NFL caliber or not, he will try for a team to actually play. Put him out there with minutes to play and just hand offs? BSed him on a QB competition and then no real playing time for clean ups? I do not see him staying with the Bucs.

I think we all trust the offense to get the job done. Trusting Bowles to make the right calls at the end of the game as a head coach? Or even call the right defense for four quarters? No one does that. Like someone mentioned at the top of the thread, Bowles not only belongs on the hot seat; he needs to be let go at the end of the season.

All I can say, is Licht, knows what he is doing. Baker, is lights out, because his coaches. licht. BUT, the team as a whole, is lights out, cause bowles. He, doesnt do offense, so oc. Canales, does oc, saw how that work out. 3, possibly 4, nfc south champs, never fired. but Licht, is true mvp.

I don’t believe we are bowls haters, I for one am not a believer in bowls as a head coach. The days of yearning for mediocrity as a Bucs fan are over. I don’t want to go back there. That’s were bowls has proven we’ll be/stay.

Didn’t get to see the game out here on the West Coast, but I did keep up with the online updates. Happy for the team, happy for a great game for Mayfield, happy that Evans is that much closer to 1,000 yards. I agree with those who would’ve liked to see him get some more today in a doable way, but I also see the perspective of those who are pointing out how upset we all would’ve been if he had gotten hurt in garbage time. But hey, 85 yards and a win against the Saints is doable. LET’S GO!!!

Look, I get both the support & criticism of Bowles. I believe both are justified. Even in a weak division, winning 4 straight titles is tough. This is especially true when you have to play the first place schedule year after year (but a great problem to have).
All that said, I think the D, supposedly a strength of the HC, has been very underwhelming. Points allowed this season is the highest in the past 5 years. Worse than that, how did they give up 500+ yards passing to a QB that couldn’t even keep his starting job? For those who don’t know the numbers, only 27 times has a QB thrown for 500 yards since Norm Van Brocklin did it in 1951.
Something is amiss this year with the D, injuries among them. Let’s get a wizard D coordinator to go with our wizard O coordinator (who we MUST keep) and then watch out!

Do you watch just for the sake of watching and to troll or are you a real fan that knows what the heck they’re talking about. Facts are facts. Let’s see…Detroit-W, Washington-W, Eagles-W, LA-W. All playoff teams i.e. quality teams to my knowledge. There may be one more but this is off the top of my head. Oh….I forgot to mention, albeit a loss but, a battle with KC to the freaking end with OT is something as REAL Bucs fan showed me a lot. Let’s speak truth.

For the record the Falcons gave away the division. As soon as the Bucs lose in playoffs if they make it all they fans going to cry fire cOach like they always do. Bucs won’t be playing in Super Bowl that’s for sure … Anybody can whip the Panthers..
