Blocking For Mike Evans

December 25th, 2024

Of course, Joe watched the Bucs-Cowboys film and saw an opportunity or two for Mike Evans that didn’t materialize.

It happens. But it’s extra painful when nearly every Bucs fan is aching for Evans to hit 1,000 yards receiving for the 11th consecutive season. He’s got 818 yards with two games remaining.

Joe let it go but Todd Bowles went there on the Buccaneers Radio Network last night.

“We missed some shots that we had [Evans] 1-on-1 that we could have taken right there due to other things up front and with the quarterback,” Bowles said. “So, we can do a better job getting him the ball in certain situations.”

Bowles acknowledged it wasn’t the Bucs’ best night of pass blocking compared to other games, though Bowles praised how the Bucs handled Micah Parsons through Sunday’s game.

Hearing Bowles made Joe hope every offensive player takes ownership and responsibility for Evans’ streak and him potentially tying Jerry Rice for the all-time record on Sunday or next week.

The offensive line has had a great year, but perhaps they can have an even better finish if they remember they’re blocking for Evans, the greatest Tampa Bay offensive player of all-time.

Mike Evans has played some of his best games against the Carolina Panters.
HE HAS HAD 200 YARD GAMES. Go Bucs

The one record worth pushing to get. Our best offensive weapon ever deserves that chance because this defense won’t help much

Why does a jockey need a whip ? Answer: To make the horse run faster.

    Whip the horse

    APB on Defense Rules.

    MIA

    Anybody heard from him?

  6. Scotty Mack Says:

All I kept saying the entire game was how awful the offensive line was playing. Yeah, there were a handful of major screwups by select individuals that were glaring but I blame the loss on the offensive line. They were terrible and the sole reason the Bucs didn’t score at least ten more points than they did. Baker was running for his life the entire game.

  7. DBS Says:

Maybe Defense Rules is going to be a stats man in the New White House?

  8. ModHairKen Says:

    Get the record. Get it.

And win the last two of the regular season.

Plays are being taped, journeymen. Need to see some better effort.

Catch the ball. Hold onto the ball. Run faster. Wrap up tackles. Beat the OL in front of you and sack the QB.

  9. Oscar Says:

Wow that sounds like Todd is throwing his QB under the bus. Has to blame someone to try to take the focus off himself and his defense.

When the season is on the line you give it your best players. All those chicken Littles saying but but Mike will be doubled therefore Baker needs to throw it to your WR3 or your TE2, hasn’t watched Brady enough before he got to Tampa (he didn’t have alot of elite receivers while in Tampa he had 4 at the same time in Evans, Brown, Godwin, and Gronk). Rodgers targeted Adams 12 times. Mahomes targeted Kelce 11 times. I sure hope Mayfield target Evans at least 10 times, hopefully more.

  11. Oscar Says:

If the primary goal for the regular season is to win and make the playoffs then get the ball to Mike Evans as much as possible. If the primary goal is to get Mike Evans his 1000 yards then force the ball to him and you probably jeopardize your chances to win. Remember the singular focus that players and coaches talk about all the time. Players and coaches can’t be thinking about both simultaneously.

  12. MadMax Says:

All good….back to the drawing board….we might win the next two (or only one) we’ll see….this is a weirdly drunk team that only shows up on occasion….all good, some of us fans are drunk at times too…

so we’re picking somewhere in the 20’s….trade down and go after Kyle Kennard….flying under everyones radar

    wins>>>>>>>>any streak

This nice guy doesn’t need to be a football coach. Much more lucrative work out there in life counseling. Go and prosper.

Fully agree about getting the ball to Mike in certain situations. Unfortunately, teams are fully covering him and Baker won’t chance it. However, it seemed that one time in the Cowboys game Mike didn’t even know the ball was supposed to come to him. I would love Mike to be able to make 1,000 yds and keep winning too.

Cobraboy and DBS – Been worried about Defense Rules too. Hope he is okay.
