Big Day For Bucs’ Tight Ends, Front Office

December 29th, 2024

So Bucs backup tight ends Devin Culp and Payne Durham combined for 5 catches for 88 yards and a touchdown. And the grabs didn’t even come in garbage time of the 48-14 win.

Whaat?

Culp hadn’t caught a ball all season and Durham had two targets all season before he jumped into the No. 1 role last week after Cade Otton got hurt.

Joe is impressed. These dudes have good hands. Culp, a rookie seventh-round pick, looked more like a physical receiver through training camp, but he couldn’t buy a snap in a real game. He had just five offensive plays before today. The guy’s a big target with a little juice.

Durham doesn’t have much juice, but the 2023 fifth-round pick is an even bigger target and he has made impressive catches in his limited opportunities. His TD catch today was his first.

What a day for the Bucs’ front office, getting huge production from late-round tight ends with the season on the line.

The depth of this high-octane Bucs offense is freakin’ scary.

NO TE’s need to be drafted next, THATS for sure

    Trade out the first

    Emmanwari
    Kennard
    Skattebo
    Debo williams
    CB?

  2. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

Both guys looked like a mismatch waiting to happen! Durham is Gronk like when it comes to his body and Culp honestly was in and out of breaks like a WR. Very intriguing TE room.

Ill tell you what’s impressive…when Coen puts scrubs off the street in, and makes them open and effective…and Baker doing the same no matter who is in his huddle!!

  4. B Says:

When you have an offensive line that is young and talented like we do- the offensive coordinator can do anything with anybody.

Durham was wide open on that TD but agree he’s been good in limited chances. I’d like to see more of Culp as a receiver, he looked sharp.

Let’s run some 3 TE sets when Otton is back.

3 tight ends with 2 RBs… defenses won’t have a clue what to do.

all fine and dandy …but next week feed mike like a hor on pills !

Agree with MadMax about not needing to draft a TE in the 2025 draft. Assuming we re-sign CG14, this draft needs to be very heavy on the defense Edge x 2, DT, LB, CB and a G or T for the O.

Draft Evans replacement in 2026 and re-sign Evans for another 1-2 years. Also need to get a LB in FA and re-sign LVD for what will probably be his final year.

After CG and LVD, the big off-season questions are what do you do with Gholston, JTS and Trask? I wouldn’t be surprised if none of them are back in 2025.

  8. Not Again Says:

Gotta keep Trask. He is the Future.

Slow down. We played the Panthers. Where was this last week when we had to have it? Crunch time matters. I like both young TEs, but by no means pass on 44 from Penn State. That guy is a game changer. He’s fluid, elusive, great routes and sick hands. 13 will not play at this level forever and Otton is nice but not a game changer. Even Arroyo from UM is a monster. Those type of TEs are mismatches.

  10. GoneGator Says:

Fantastic job by Liam and TE coach/s.
Most impressed with these guys hands! If they continue to catch their shots our offense just adds more weapons to an already stacked offensive stocked cupboard of playmakers.

Devin Culp plays like that Cade Otton won’t have a job anymore. Jk but for real this is going to be more incentive now for Otton to be a better every down TE1. If he can’t get it going as both a blocker and pass catcher on all downs then he’s not going to be resigned. Devin Culp is kinda like TE2 in my eyes, but if he can’t learn to block he’s gonna be TE1 very fast playing like that! Reminds me of when we had Brate, Tanner Hudson, Oj Howard.

I couldn’t get over how well Culp and Durham both were in the game. Didn’t miss a beat. The Panthers didn’t see it coming either. Surprised everyone.

You know it all draft kings need to go apply for a front office job at RayJay. You have it all figured out. I wonder why they don’t read this and take your suggestions?

  14. garro Says:

Hmm What happened to all the fire Licht guys? A fith and a seventh playing like early round picks? Is that allowed?

Kudos guys. Durham poved he can play.

    Go Bucs!
