Baker Mayfield On Pace For 4,546 Yards Passing, 41 Touchdowns And 15 Interceptions

Bucs franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield is having a career year and, as Joe said all spring and summer, he’s a hell of a lot better than Kirk Cousins.

And Mayfield doesn’t even get to play against the Bucs’ defense!
Mayfield belted Carolina with five touchdown passes today and upped his season completion percentage to over 71 percent — 71 percent! Tom Brady never did that. Mayfield’s final line today was 27-of-32 for 359 yards.
Somehow, Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht found a stud QB walking the streets and then re-signed him on the cheap after a Pro Bowl season. Who does that?
For the 2024 season,, Mayfield is on pace for 4,546 yards passing, 41 TDs and 15 interceptions.

Outstanding game by Mayfield and the Bucs offense. That one incomplete pass to a wide open Mike Evans was disappointing. Mike needs all the yards he can get to reach 1,000. Oh well, hopefully next week. Oh by the way, I think Bucky Irving has a good chance of making the team!

Why would a better than most OC stay with a sub par DC that destroys the benefit if the Offense? It buries the OC’s work. He is out unless Bowles is out. Hate to say it.

Doubt Coen turns down HC gig to stay on as OC lol. And seriously doubt Coen likes when Todd’s d undercuts His Offenses performance at times into an L. And there is atleast a team that will hire Coen. We make it to Round 1 and our D collapses …. the logic is simple. Shouldn’t be sitting here needing the sorry ass falcons who beat us twice to lose to the commandos smh. Baker is playing better than Drew Brees did at this point in his career. Baker made the pro bowl with Canales. 2 OCs in 2 years and Baker is proving to be far more than worthy of the franchise QB label.
The Glazers simply MUST find a way to keep Coen and Baker together for the long term. They owe that to Baker.
Something bizarre is going on. Why does this team look so good one week and so bad the next. We’ve proven we can beat good teams. We’ve also proven we can’t beat bad teams. This team has dissociative identity disorder as does the leader and head coach.

Baker is dialed in and playing his ass off. He is in full control of this offense. Without him, Evans doesn’t get his 1,000 yds, they wouldn’t have a shot at making the playoffs and they damn sure wouldn’t have a chance at winning the division. The money saved by getting Baker at such a cheap price will allow Licht to bring in some help on Defense. This team will be a tough out for the next few years

Citrus County, I agree. It can be really stressful watching the Bucs b/c sometimes you just don’t know who you’re going to get. I think one of the Joes made a similar point this week about not knowing which team was going to show up. That said, we showed up big today against a Panthers team that was garnering respect lately despite their record. Jourdan Rodrigue on I think it was the Heed the Call podcast said this was one of the games she was most looking forward to this week b/c of how well Mayfield and the Bucs (offense) have done and how much better Bryce Young and the Panthers have been doing. I don’t think this was a garbage opponent, and I’m glad this version of the Bucs came out to answer for last week’s game.

As much as it disappoints me that we lost some close games I don’t think qe should fire Bowles. If you were around for all of those bad years you’ll know how good it is to just have a winning season. I think most people here came over with Brady and are too accustomed to winning superbowls almost yearly, or getting close to it. If you are from the Browns like the Baker boys then you know how rarely a winning season comes about. Same for true Buccaneer fans. I’ll take a winning season and good play over firing Bowles. He is doing a good job and probably would be taking us to the superbowl this year if we didnt lose so many defensi e players to injury early on.

Let’s put things in perspective after Baker signed his contract. This year so far, he has his best completion percentage ever by over 7 percentage points (completion rate is 71.7%). He has thrown 39 TD passes this year which is 11 more than his regular season high of 28 last year. He has thrown for 4,279 which beats his career best set last year by 235 yards with one game to play. Ok, Baker haters love to harp on his INT’s, and he has 15 this year, which is 5 more than last year. Bucs are 9-7 so they are on pace to be at least as good record wise as last year. With a little better defensive play at times, Bucs should have wrapped up this division.

Someone explain to me why you believe the defense has underperformed. A coach can’t make chicken salad out of chicken drek. Do you really believe this is a talented defense? Really? We have a 35 year-old linebacker who has lost a step. Our Pro Bowl safety has missed half the season. Another safety is a rookie. A third safety was rejected by three other teams. Our other linebacker in the middle could not start on any other team and Kancey missed four games. I think that Joe could make a good case that this defense has overperformed. It isn’t the coach’s fault that the defensive personnel are inadequate. Our defensive drafts have not been up to the quality of the offensive drafts. And those who know anything about NFL football know that the defensive coaches coordinate with the offensive coaches to plan how to attack the other team. I trust Todd Bowles and believe he is a good coach.

I had a strong feeling Bucs would win today. I didn’t know it was going to be a wipeout. Defense came back to life probably with a few more healthy bodies. This injury trip has been nuts……I’m proud they have a winning season. Does anyone know what time the last game starts?

Ken – Baker had 3 TD passes in the first half which ended with Bucs leading 27-14. His 4th TD pass came in 3rd quarter with 6 minutes left, making score 34-14. Only one TD pass in 4th quarter could be considered “garbage” time and name me one top QB who has not had a bunch of those also -lol

Baker is on the cheap. They better move money from 2026 to 2025 for him. He shouldn’t be earning anything less than 50M next year. Reconstruct his contract and give him 20m from 2026 as a bonus.
