Adam Schein On Mike Evans And The Pro Football Hall Of Fame: “You Either Get It Or You Don’t”

December 18th, 2024

Bucs believer.

As Joe stated, the Bucs are now on the radars of the big boys of national sports media.

That’s what happens when you strut into the media capital west of the Mississippi River and chain-whip arguably the best defense in the NFL.

Friend of Joe, Adam Schein, the popular national sports TV and radio personality of CBS and SiriusXM, took to his show “Schein on Sports” Monday and declared the Bucs’ curb-stomping of the Chargers the most monumental feat of the past NFL weekend.

And there Schein made a passionate plea for the selectors of the Pro Football Hall of Fame to make Mike Evans a first-ballot nominee.

Schein noted how any NFL fan who pays attention knows the impact the legendary Bucs receiver has had not just with the Bucs, but in the league.

“He’s one of the best receivers in the history of the league,” Schein said of Evans. “You either get it or you don’t. … You either show respect or you don’t.”

Schein said Evans’ name deserves to be mentioned in hushed tones by Bucs fans along with Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber.

(Joe would add Lee Roy Selmon to that list.)

As for the Bucs, Schein added, “No team had a more impressive win … than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That was the performance of the weekend. The Bucs deserve that kind of credit and love.”

Schein isn’t wrong.

The second TD pass to Evans was a work of art.

Could say the exact same thing for LVD… If you know you know. If you don’t you simply haven’t been paying attention. ME13 and LVD are two of the greatest Bucs of all time and definitely the greatest Bucs since the OG super bowl bunch.
The fact is that Super Bowl wins can play a big role in HOF voting and both of these guys have to know that and they’ve got to be so damn hungry for another ring. I’m starting to believe it’s possible.

Still wanna see Evans fight Lattimore ngl

It was, but I’d argue the first was more impressive. Baker was on the run, Evans had to break off his route, and Baker had to throw an absolute LASER to get it to Evans before he went out of bounds.

When I watch the replay, the ball moves so fast my eyes can’t track it before it gets to Evans.

Like I stated yesterday, the recent media exposure and love should bode well for him being 1st ballot! In addition, who would stand in his way when the time comes…Reggie Wayne, Hines Ward, and Larry Fitz should already be in. Forecasting current players who may be eligible the 1st year…Adams?? Hill???

I think Mike has had a bigger impact and his numbers in totality can’t be touched! 1st ballot!

  6. Jethro Tull Says:

    All hail our Mikey.

ME13 and LVD are class acts OFF the field, too. You ever hear those 2 blow a diva horn? Upset a locker room? Nope. They both deserve first ballot Canton enshrinement. This long-time Bucs fan is all for it. Thanks Joe for the correct spelling of the greatest Buc, IMO: Lee Roy Selmon. Was he a first ballot pick?

  8. heyjude Says:

    Schein is right on point.

Mike is phenomenal to watch. The way he twists and turns to get the catch is amazing. He runs into the end zone like it’s a walk in the park. Love it!

  9. Billy Bucco Says:

We are obviously the crowd who gets it.
If that explosion was due to ME 13 doing different things than he showed on tape
then this is going to be truly fun.
Went and watched the Cowboys last 2 games and Rico Dowdle is NO JOKE.
    That guy runs ferociously.
I think beating Dallas could be a statement as well.
    We shall see.
    34-17 Bucs

Maybe Ira will start to get it

Maybe Ira will start to get it

Doubt Ira is going to be around to vote for Mike Evans.

  12. Jethro Tull Says:

    Stay healthy, Ira!

Def a solid overall win, but curious how the game unfolds if Herbert isn’t playing on one leg. Bucs have been getting some KC style luck more than a few times this season. This D is still 6th worst is yds/gm, 3rd worst in pass yds/gm, 11th overall in rush yds/gm & 14th worst in pts/game. Bowles’ D rankings for his teams has declined every year he’s been a HC, both in NY and here. That’s not a coincidence, it’s a pattern.

I’ll take the luck whenever I can get it. The last Superbowl team had luck, especially with the Chiefs OL being injured. It happens, glad it worked in favor of the Bucs. Embrace the luck!

  15. Dlavid Says:

Well here we go AGAIN !!! The national media blah blah blah….. next thing you know this team gets full of itself and boom we shat the bed all over ourselves !! Time for this team to stand tall and play up to expectations and ability ….! These mid season losing streaks three years in a row are killing this clubs potential!

  16. Usfbuc Says:

Everything in life takes some luck. If the Bucs get lucky all the way to another boat parade I’m not going to put an asterisk on the season.

Now let’s go beat the Cowboys and get ME another big game. I’d like for him to wrap his 1000 yd season before the last game.

Fantasy football hall of fame. Mike is a very good receiver, but when you think of Jerry and Randy and other guys in the Hall, Mike never dominated the same way. If he takes over the playoffs and the Bucs run to the Super Bowl, it seals his career. He was a non factor in the Super Bowl win. That’s not what HOF WRs do.

  18. TampabayDJ Says:

Randy Moss never got a Super Bowl ring ! Neither did a lot of other HOF WRs ! So you’re point is mute

  19. TampabayDJ Says:

Fantasy football HOF ? Never dominated ? When did you start watching the Bucs ? He played his first 6 seasons with a bunch of below average QBs and STILL put up great stats and always had a 2nd great WR playing with him in The late great Vincent Jackson and Chris Godwin. He’s got better numbers than AB, D. Adams , T. Hill , and is 1 of only 4 WRs with 5 years of 12+ TDs. And you can add another after this year as he already has 9 in 10 games. Baltimore game he was out in the first quarter so ..

  20. TampabayDJ Says:

View from 123 needs to do his homework before farting out words ..Go Bucs and future HOF WR Mike Evans
