YaYa Diaby Said Overlooking Tommy Devito Can Get Bucs Beat

November 24th, 2024

Discusses today’s mission.

Let’s be real: If you had to play against an inconsistent starting quarterback or his third-string backup, which would you choose?

If you don’t think the starter is any good, imagine how the third-string quarterback is. Say hello to Chief Illiniwek himself, Tommy Devito, embraced in the greater Newark area and the surrounding Sopranos Land as “Tommy Cutlets.”

Joe spoke with Bucs outside linebacker YaYa Diaby last week and Diaby didn’t want to hear any talk about Tommy Cutlets being a scrub. Diaby told Joe if a man is in the league, he has skills and the Bucs better respect him.

“You can’t look at it that way,” Diaby said of facing a third-string signal-caller. “You can never look at our opponent and take them lightly.

“We have to approach him the same way we approach Daniel Jones. We have to get after it.”

In general terms, Joe asked Diaby about facing a backup who has far less snaps than the previous starter. Diaby said a guy with less experience may make a mistake as a result.

And if Tommy Cutlets makes a mistake, the Bucs have to pounce.

“We just have to do what we gameplan for. Get into New York and get after them,” Diaby said.

And Diaby reiterated that any NFL quarterback is a professional and needs to be treated and respected as such.

Too late. The gameplan is already in. First priority – don’t start covering any receivers now. We want to confuse Tommy.

  2. VOT Says:

Just never know what team is gonna show up today. Just like every week under Todd…

We do know we will see late, slow blitz packages with the backside corner playing 20 yards off the ball.

We know we will see the crowd give the GMen confidence and Todd’s cover no one defense will add too it

We know we have a .500 coach, it’s a Bucs life

Bucs lose today, don’t let Bowles on the plane home. Bucs lose today I think even his wife will have his stuff on the lawn when he gets home if she doesn’t leave first. There is no excuse for losing to the Giants.

Overlooking any QB will get you beat…..Bucs should win this game going away. We have played toe-to-toe with top teams….should trounce a bad team.

As a fan since the beginning, I have learned the hard way, that you take nothing for granted. This Franchise has lost way to many times when it looked like they would win over the decades. The Denver game comes to mind this year. Denver has proven to be a team going in the right direction, but at the time, even Joe was basically laughing about the Broncos, and then a complete dud of a game by the Good Guys.
I just want to see the Bucs have 1 more point than the Giants and win. It has been a long time since they won a game.
    GO BUCS!!!!!

I can’t understand how this is even a possibility, a topic, or would ever enter his mind and reach his vocabulary, in the first place!? I mean, shouldn’t that be a given that you underestimate NO ONE… Especially, in THE NF-freakin-L!? Come-on, Guy!!!!

  7. MelvinJunior Says:

It doesn’t matter WHO TF is in there!? Yaya just needs to focus on HIMSELF, & the guy in front him. How bout BEAT HIM first, for once.

  8. JimBobBuc Says:

Trap game. The Giants will be energized behind Danny DeVito and ball. A bad loss will get Licht on the phone with Belichick.

  9. BPBucsfan Says:

350 yards passing and 2 TD’s to Malik Neighbors.

  10. Pewter Power Says:

Just fact that this question is continually asked to players of a 4-7 team is embarrassing and will be even worse if they lost

  11. ModHairKen Says:

Yaya, less yacking and more sacking.
