Two Injuries For Lavonte David

November 1st, 2024

Lavonte David’s challenging season has gotten more difficult.

David is having a solid year but he looked old against the Ravens two weeks ago. And then on Sunday, David got hurt.

And now it’s official. David has two injuries “ankle/chest.” He did not practice yesterday.

David and many other players are routinely banged up. That’s part of football. But a red flag always has to go up when that guy is a 34-year-old linebacker in his 13th season.

Joe wonders about David’s chest injury. Did it happened when Kirk Cousins ripped the heart out of the Tampa Bay defense.

Joe isn’t worried about David playing through injuries, but Joe is concerned that a hurting body and a miserable Bucs defense could send David into a January retirement.

Its really for the best if he retires.

  2. Beeej Says:

If we have nobody better to put on the field than KJ Britt, what happens when either Britt or LD get hurt?

  3. zzbucs Says:

LVD is not getting any younger, that being said he plays alongside KJ Britt wich is a major liability…..He has to cover his own space, and sometimes Britt´s space….I will always love LVD, a great example of an old school player, not this divas we need to watch now….who don´t do anything than shout scream complain and be active on social media…….

  4. BuckyBuc Says:

Sad to say but it’s his last season. He’s lost a step for sure. At least he got the superbowl he deserved while playing here. MLB is the weak point on defense right now

  5. Pryda30 Says:

We thank you for the service

  6. Krutch Says:

    Wow, everyone (including Joe).

LVD is a Top 10 Bucs player of all time, maybe Top 5. I know this is a league about what have you done for me lately, but he was playing like a Top 20 linebacker before the Ravens game. I’d take LVD at 70% than any other LB on our team.

He deserves better from his fans. Stop saying he “looks old”. He had one bad game and you’re all ready to bury him. Be better.

  7. adam from ny Says:

i don’t think he’s really fallen off, i think he’s compensating by trying to play things safe, and cover more field, and cover up for other players deficiencies………not saying any names

  8. adam from ny Says:

not saying he’s in his prime, but he doesn’t look all washed out either

  9. FortMyersDave Says:

LVD is not the linebacker I am worried about, he will suit up even if he banged up and only playing at 50%. I am more concerned watching Mahomes, who will have all day in the pocket, somehow get Kelce the rock as he dashes by Britt and Whitehead and then watch the camera pan up to the luxury box to show Taylor Swift’s reaction to Mahomes and her man boat racing Bowles defense…..

  10. SlyPirate Says:

If he was done today, LVD would finish 9th Tackles for Loss, 9th in Solo Tackles, 10th Combine Tackles.

    HOF

  11. A Bucs Fan Says:

He is compensating for BRITT and its costing the team. Period.

  12. Pewter Power Says:

Mark Dominick School of GM’ing. I mean why would anyone assume a 34-year-old linebacker in his 13th season could possibly get injured and even use a 6th round pick on the position instead of a tight end, edge rusher or D line.

  13. Krutch Says:

I don’t comment very much, more of a consumer of the opinionated.

This thread did make me think of where I’d rank LVD on my Top 15 Bucs of all time.

    1. Derrick Brooks
    2. Warren Sapp
    3. Lee Roy Selmon
    4. Michael Lynn Evans III
    5. John Lynch
    6. Ronde Barber
    7. LAVONTE DAVID
    8. Simeon Rice
    9. Doug Williams
    10. James Wilder
    11. Hardy Nickerson
    12. Paul Gruber
    13. Jimmie Giles
    14. Chris Godwin
    15. Mike Alstott

    Any thoughts?

  14. Gbobucsfan Says:

    ^^ A Bucs Fan – 100% completely agree!!!

  15. Bucc my life Says:

Could it be that he’s been dealing with nagging injuries already, and that explains his drop off in play as of late?

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

David has given his best and his all to the Bucs. He’s played at a high level for quite a while. Fans don’t understand it takes a toll on the body. Its probably time for him to give it up after this season. He’s almost done.

  17. Pete Says:

Give the former USF Bull Antonio Grier Jr. a shot. He’s definitely an upgrade in pass defense.

  18. Crickett Baker Says:

He was one of the bright spots in the last Atlanta game. He was all over the field making tackles. He didn’t look old to me and he is still contributing greatly. I sure hope he plays Monday.

  19. Kyle Bush Says:

LVD is one of my favorite Bucs ever, but he’s 34, he can’t be the most athletic linebacker on the team.

  20. NCBuc80 Says:

His dropoff in play is due to him playing both inside positions. He covers his and Britt’s.

  21. Dave Pear Says:

LVD might just ask to be put on IR and get out of the misery. It’s so bad it’s morbidly funny.

  22. BigBoiBuc Says:

    @Krutch

    Warrick Dunn?

  23. Krutch Says:

    @BigBoiBuc

I was very close to listing 15) Alstott/Dunn

Alstott was so much fun to watch because of his running style and highlights. But Dunn was arguably a more special player for us.

  24. Joe Mac Says:

The tone of the article is disrespectful.

Show his age? He’s playing amazing.

    Wtf are y’all talking about?

Again. Obese and jealous fans need to stfu.

And only put RESPECT on Lavontes Name.

I saw some fool wrote “thank you for your service.”

    Man. Go to hell.

  25. Pewter Power Says:

    Joe Mac
The tone of the article is disrespectful.

How long have you been a Bucs game it couldn’t have been long. Lavonte David is a hall of famer and everybody here knows that. Derrick Brooks is the best linebacker on Bucs history, you think he felt disrespected with how he was cut or that he had to hold out to get paid like the hall of famer he was? Players get older how the hell you gonna be offended he not the player he used to be? Older players get hurt uh Mike Evans. He is playing great but KJ Britt isn’t the only linebacker in coverage over the middle. Bowles only puts his slowest linebacker in coverage? No one dares call out David out of respect. There’s always a nutsack poster don’t cry about it

  26. unbelievable Says:

    @NCBucs80 – exactly!!!!

He’s constantly covering for the sorry play of Britt, Whitehead, etc.

Did everyone suddenly forget that in the last month he made game changing / game winning plays against multiple teams? It’s not his fault that 90% of the remaining defense is hot trash.

LVDs play is the least of my worries. His injuries however are definitely concerning. This season is quickly going in the toilet it seems.

  27. BAKERSBucs says Says:

WTF r u peop,e the biggest bunch of dirtbag back stabbing SOB the guy is top notch & u people r the real problem I sure hope that patriot does not read these pathetic post u constantly rip u r big mouths on its out of control what losers u all R

  28. BAKERSBucs says Says:

This crap is the same garbage u A-holes were spewing last year at this time

  29. BAKERSBucs says Says:

I have noticed alot of new posting names but just cause u r change u r post na,e it’s still easy to ID all of u cause u same the same sh!t as last year with diff.name

  30. The Beer Whisperer Says:

Lavonte has been playing at a high level, still.

  31. Daniel Z Says:

@ Krutch, he is one of my favourite players of all time, so I might be a bit biased, but that’s criminally low for Alstott.
