Tommy Devito May Be Walking Into A Buzzsaw

November 24th, 2024

Blitz-happy Todd Bowles.

Someone on Twitter yesterday tried to give Joe a what’s-for when it comes to the Bucs-Giants game this afternoon.

Joe pointed out how Chief Illniwek himself, Tommy Cutlets, was a lousy quarterback. This apparently rubbed some folks the wrong way. Can you imagine?

Really? We’re talking about a guy the Giants thought so much of they traded for dummy Drew Lock to backup Danny Dimes? Spare Joe!

In fact, unless Tommy Cutlets has greatly improved, he is downright horrible when there’s a pass rush. In fact, Tommy Cutlets is brutal beyond words when opposing defenses blitz. And guess what Bucs coach Todd Bowles likes to do?

Handicapper turned stathead Warren Sharp has all the cold hard facts about Tommy Cutlets on his site, Sharp Football Analysis.

When pressured, [Tommy Cutlets] averaged 4.1 Y/A (42nd) with a sack on a league-high 44.6% of those dropbacks.

When blitzed, he averaged 4.7 Y/A (46th) with a sack on a league-high 32.2% of those dropbacks.

The Bucs are 8th in blitz rate (30.4%).

The way Bowles likes to blitz, this could be a very, very, very long afternoon in the New Jersey Swamplands for Tommy Cutlets.

In fact, Joe wonders if we may even see that clown Lock? But that would mean the Giants aren’t tanking.

This is too hilarious. Phil Simms at his age could come out of his media gigs and still carve up Coich’s Cover Who for 300 and 2 tuddies.

Why are so many of our fans toxic and ungrateful?

Did you forget Raheems team? They wouldn’t tackle. They wouldn’t hit. They didn’t care at all.

We have a team that gives 100%. We have a tight locker room. We have a team and a culture that is competitive and hardworking.

We are still in salary cap hell.

Zion was a Bowles pick and project. From a 5th round pick to a Pro Bowler?

    That’s Todd.

Our Super Bowl defense. That’s Todd.

We only played 1 bad game all season. Against Denver and their dominant defense.

I am taking names of the haters and doubters.

We will make the playoffs. And with a fearless competitor at QB like Baker, we can beat anybody.

I am really disgusted with the negativity of some fans.

We had no business making the playoffs last year. And we did!

And you guys are still ungrateful and negative?

Where are the loyal fans at!?

    You know what they say
about stats. Giants coming off a bye too. I don’t think bowles is good enough to win this game on the road. And I’ll put my money on it

  4. Kenton Smith Says:

Darin. A fool and his money is soon parted.

  5. BigBucsFan Says:

Speak on it teacher man….. Agree with this Joe our guys had time to rest and time to bring a few back. On top this giants offense, offensive line and now quarterback is prime for a get Right game. All those little faith just pack it up till next year and quit trying to make everybody else as miserable as you with your comments

  6. Badbucs Says:

Teacher man – optimist, realist, pessimist. You have every right to be an optimist about our coach and team. That does not give you some moral high ground to denigrate the posters with a different view and question their loyalty. You are welcome to be optimistic about 4 and 6, poor in game decisions, lack of fundamentals, poor tackling, bad clock management, lack of preparedness, and inability to make halftime adjustments. Those of us that would prefer to see a solid NFL team that wins have a different view. Pointing out the obvious weaknesses does not make you disloyal.
Sure, there are always unforeseen circumstances, injuries and personnel issues. Todd has had to weather the terrible dead cap problem that has him working with vastly inferior players than many other teams. He has done an admirable job of dealing with it. Still doesn’t make him a great coach for our future.
The fans have every right to vent their frustrations. Take your holier than thou attitude elsewhere. We love the Bucs too. We just don’t view them through rose colored glasses.

  7. Hodad Says:

Four home losses so far. Three prime time losses. Two losses to new HC Raheem Morris of all people. Yeah I’m a bad fan? How about the Bucs give me something to cheer for.

  8. Jeffs grandpa Says:

It’s still Bowles so it’s doubtful

  9. Bucnjim Says:

Hodad, the home loses and the two Falcons loses make me want to bang my head against the wall. Want to see Bowles succeed, but losing to teams with less talent for the division lead make me sick.

  10. Bucben1961 Says:

Well said Badbucs well said indeed

  11. SenileSenior Says:

It is realistic to say that Todd has performed poorly as head coach in some aspects. It is realistic to criticize some of his calls as the defensive coordinator. One positive is when you look at the demeanor of the players. Surely Todd gets some credit for sustaining the culture in spite of all of the injuries.

It is another thing to wallow in negativity. I do see the difference from the ten year losing stretch loyal fans endured. And this site is not plagued with the trolls it once was.

Go Bucs!! Trounce the lowly Giants!

  12. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

TB does put fans in quite a quandary. Being completely fair he hasn’t had the greatest hand delt to him. First year he didn’t have time to really make it his team, plus Brady was checked out and the OL fell apart in camp. Year 2, new qb and OC, salary cap hell and still managed to get the shop righted and into the playoffs. This year, another new OC, injuries like the plague and maybe the last year of not going to war with some nice new free agent pieces.

But, at the same time it doesn’t mean he’s a good coach. It’s why my outlook is the same as last year. Wait until the end and see if he did enough to save his job for one more year. My thoughts are if we reach the postseason AND we can keep Coen I am good with giving the man another year

  13. Proudbucsfan Says:

This team’s defense needs discipline and Bowles isn’t instilling it. TB can’t handle being the DC and the head coach at the same time. Every season is getting worse and he refuses to put in a DC, that’s a big problem. If we lose today I think the Glazers say good bye to Todd Bowles.

  14. Gofortheface30 Says:

Dave Pear – “cover who” defense. Well done, too funny

  15. Cobraboy Says:

I’m so old I remember when Bo Nix was walking into a buzzsaw…

  16. Cobraboy Says:

When do we start asking “What would the Hoodie do?”

  17. Jmarkbuc Says:

The hoodie is to busy munching on Viagra and his own ego…

  18. TheMightyVH Says:

Bowles plays not to lose rather then to win, especially on offense. You blitz Lamar and do nothing against Kirk? Don’t go for 2 against KC? 1st and goal against SF and you don’t throw in endzone? Who ever said Bucs play Cover Who is dead on. Never understand our defensive strategy and we are NOT aggressive enough on offense. That’s a Bucs life…

  19. infomeplease Says:

If it’s possible, TB will play enough soft zone that TD throws for 400 yrds. This game could very well be a toss up. Unfortunately! It’s time for a better head coach!

  20. Jugheadfla Says:

Buzzsaw…..and this God awful, Swiss cheese, flaccid defense that Bowels runs should never be used in the same sentence
