The Streak Is Over!
November 24th, 2024Joe knows a lot of Bucs fans point to different uncomortable elements of Todd Bowles’ style of leading an NFL team. But for Joe, this is just about the worst.
Entering today’s beatdown of the Giants in the New Jersey Swamplands, Bowles’ record in games coming off a bye was 1-5, including losing five in a row.
The worst of the worst was two years ago in Cleveland when Tom Brady was starting a game-winning drive in the final seconds. Bowles took the ball out of Brady’s hands. Pulled the rug out from under him.
Bowles, as he is wont to do, played for overtime and guess what? The Bucs got beat. When you don’t play for the win, you lose.
After the game, Bowles said his decision to let the air out of the tires was because Brady could have thrown a pick. This game was in late November and to that point in the 2022 season, Brady had thrown two interceptions. Tom. Freaking. Brady!
Well, that streak is over in the wake of the Bucs’ 30-7 beatdown of the Giants today in which the Bucs played just about a perfect first half.
“This Joe” was always dubious of the Bucs going 6-1 to finish the season and maybe get a playoff berth. One reason was Bowles’ ugly streak of losses coming off a bye.
So this is one big win down and five more wins to go. Can a Bowles’ led team actually finish a season 6-1? We’re a week closer to finding out.

Bowles doing just enough to not get fired. Thankfully Danny Devito didn’t go off as many back-ups/no names have vs Bucs before. Good win. A great team to break a slump against. It had been over a month since their last win.

Even if the Bucs wn the rest of their games, they need to promote Liam Coen to Head Coach or they’ll likely lose him.
November 24th, 2024 at 6:05 pm
If there was another coach who knew what he was doing, telling Bowles what to do the entire game, and if Bowles actually listened and did what the legitimate coach told him to do, then maybe.
November 24th, 2024 at 6:07 pm
Wasn’t happy seeing White up the gut at the end when going for it on 4th down. Clearly haven’t learned from the previous attempts at doing the same thing
November 24th, 2024 at 6:14 pm
Well “this joe”, starting to be boring, when the Bucs win is on the players, when they don’t is on the coach.
Today the coaching was close to perfect, and you decide to go for Bowles again, talking about a game millions of years ago…..
Ok “this Joe”, you are getting predictable and boring….
Trust me “this Joe”, I am not trying to be funny, I am posting here for several years, I enjoy what you the other Joe and Ira have to say, but this season , seems to me to are not being objective anymore, and it,s boring…..
November 24th, 2024 at 6:17 pm
They were the Giants. We shoulda won.
November 24th, 2024 at 6:25 pm
Washington losing actually helps Bucs ,,, just got to win one at a time
November 24th, 2024 at 6:34 pm
That’s why they play the games.
November 24th, 2024 at 6:36 pm
Bowles is not trustworthy to get this team where they need to go.
November 24th, 2024 at 6:41 pm
Stop with the Bowles attacks. He is the coach. He will be the coach. And he has them on the road. It’s a 17 game regular season.
November 24th, 2024 at 6:43 pm
Bowles won’t get fired no matter what happens st seasons end. But Bucs would be smart to offer Coen head coaching $ and tell him he makes any and all decisions on the offense. Essentially a co head coach. If Bowles doesn’t like it tell him to hit the road.
November 24th, 2024 at 6:45 pm
@Jason Anthony Sturgess, while I believe that Coen is the most valuable acquisition of the off-season and the Glazers need to make him an offer he can’t refuse so we retain him, I’m not on board with making him HC, at least not yet.
He’s a great OC, and if we make him a HC it will take some of his attention off offense, and I don’t think that is a good idea. I believe that is one of the issues the Bucs have on defense. Bowles IS a good DC but as head coach it takes some of his time and attention away from defense.

The Bucs are a good football team ! They have been plagued with injuries all season. The Bucs have beaten some great teams. Commanders, Lions ,Eagles, and if it were not for injuries to our defense and two pro bowl receivers, we should have beaten the Falcons Ravens and Chiefs !! My point is the Bucs are good enough to run the table and finish 11-6 !! We have to believe !!
Go Bucs !! Beat the Panthers !!
November 24th, 2024 at 7:26 pm
Bartow: spot on – toughest schedule in the NFL first half, critical injuries, still hung within one score of the league’s best. And wins against Detroit, DC, Philly? Who else can say that.
Time to run the table now though.

Its official Zzbucs is part of the Bowles family.
Everyone start glazing Todd here so we don’t hurt this persons feelings anymore.
I’m not about to say Bowles is safe after 1 game off a bye vs the 2-8 Giants with a 3rd string QB. Bowles was supposed to win as a 6 pt favorite.
Bowles has 3 division games and the Chargers coming up that will test him. Win those and a playoff game or 2… then he can be safe again like last year. Name a good team we have beaten in the last 30 games… Lions this year. That’s the list. Eagles last year were dead, Commanders first game with new staff and new QB, Eagles this year minus top 2 WRs. Until Bowles can win a 1 score game vs a contending team… he’s not a coach that can win a SB and that’s all that matters.

BTW, huge game by Christian Izien today. He should really get his own dedicated shout-out. While the Giants aren’t very good, Nabbers is really good, and Izien played him really well – and I’m pretty he made the one-on-one tackle in the open field vs him when it looked like Nabbers would have a big play.
No idea why we haven’t seen him more this year – but glad he showed up today.

So frustrating. Plays aggressive defense against bottom feeders and makes correct adjustments and game management decisions. Plays soft and not to lose against good teams. He really needs to go. He is holding this team back.
November 24th, 2024 at 8:04 pm
at least TB pulled his starters in the 4th quarter when they were up 30-7…….oh, wait a second.

My thing is, you don’t want Liam Coen to go. If it’s a matter of having to make him Head Coach as long as he runs the offense, then they need to do it. Todd Bowles in my opinion is personally responsible for 3-4 of the Bucs losses. The Bucs can not win if they play not to lose.
November 24th, 2024 at 10:49 pm
I still say Bowles has to go so we can keep Coen.
Bowles is not a special coach with a special defense. Lots of people could make this defense better.
Coen’s offense is special. Maybe someone could make it better, but why mess with a good thing.
Make Liam Coen our coach at the end of the season.
With all the injuries on defense all we get is excuses.
With all the injuries on offense we get positive results.
Which do you chose, excuses or positive results?

Has Bowles ever won a game after going to OT?
Maybe he should start going for the kill?

umm…didn’t they go 6-1 after the bye last season?

“Five more wins, five more wins!” That is are new Bucs chant. If they play like yesterday and even better, the Bucs can do it.

It’s the usual idiotic entertainment on here. The so-called “fans” badmouthing the Bucs after they shellacked a bad team on the road AFTER a Bye Week. Boy howdy. You bozos would never make it through the Dark Age of the Culverhouse years. Well, next week it will be Canales vs. Coen on the road in Charlotte. This fan is pulling for the Bucs. Hopefully, BM will be in decent playing shape and not get anymore injuries. How about more trick plays Coen? The OLine is starting to jell.
November 25th, 2024 at 8:14 am
orlbucfan I did make it through the Culverhouse years including 0-26.
Bowles is an average head coach. He’s nothing special. A lot of defensive coordinators could get more out of our defense on a consistent basis.
Coen on the other hand is a special coach. The league knows it. He’ll be poached if we keep Bowles as HC. I would rather keep Coen. The proof is in the pudding.
Defense is bottom of the barrel statistically. Offense is top 10 or higher statistically. When I do the math it computes fire Bowles and promote Coen. Or at least talk to Coen and get him to stay at least one more year for seasoning. But I think he’s ready now. And the Glazers never stand in the way of a coordinator getting a better gig.
Plus, Baker is extremely confortable with Liam.

Dave….. did you watch the end of LAST season? Clueless smh
November 25th, 2024 at 11:46 am
It will be interesting to see if Bowles can still get this team to double digit wins this season. I am guessing the answer is no and he will be gone when the season ends. But it sure will be fun to find out. Good luck coach! I see the “communication issues” were better yesterday or was that just that the Giants didnt show up???

no joke only 1 quote we need to know…..Toilet Bowles said …we play not to lose, then we try to win….his words…. loser like mentality Dumby Smith, Sheheem the dreamer, Schianno…co-ordinators parading as head coaches.. loser mentality
