Running The Table

November 18th, 2024

Painted into a corner.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Bucs have a soft schedule. But as Bucs coach Todd Bowles said last week, this is the NFL. Every team has first-round picks and high-priced veterans that can rise up and burn you if you look too far ahead.

NFL columnist Mike Tanier seems the think the Bucs have painted themselves too much into a corner. So he thinks the Bucs better run the table to be sure of grabbing a wild card berth. And looking at the Bucs’ final seven games, Tanier isn’t ready to believe the Bucs can’t do it.

Especially when several opponents will be on TankWatch.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Playoff Probability: 32.6%

Playoff Moneyline: +255

Greatest Advantage: The Bucs’ post-bye schedule features the Giants, Panthers, Raiders (see TankWatch), Chargers in Los Angeles (their toughest test), Cowboys (Will Grier will be their quarterback by then), Panthers again and Saints (the interim coach smell, such as it is, will have worn off by then).

“This Joe” isn’t sold that this is going to be a cakewalk. Right now the Fighting Jim Harbaughs (Los Angeles Chargers) are playing good ball and getting better. Last thing the current status of a Todd Bowles defense wants to face is a team on the rise with a dangerous, proven top-shelf quarterback.

Two losses and the Bucs may as well begin preparing for the draft. Injuries, subpar play (on defense) and one-score losses have painted the Bucs into a corner.

No one with a sense of objectivity who looks at the way the team is coached and managed believes anything other than Jason will be unveiling the Bucs next Head Coach as soon as league rules allow, after the season is mercifully over.

The current guy could drop a football and miss the ground.

  2. MadMax Says:

    Baker sucks….signing in…he knows, joking

Look, its real simple, fire him right now and make Liam HC

  3. MadMax Says:

    You know me Jason

  4. Jake Tampa Says:

If the Bucs were in any other division, I’d have counted them out a long time ago. I have the utmost faith that the Falcons are going to blow their season and lose 4 of their next 6. Just happens that Bucs are the next in line.

Baker gets Mike Evans back next week and this is going to be a completely different team. We lost some close games that we should have won, and I have faith the guys will get the job done. They beat the Redskins, Lions (!!!) and Eagles to start the season 3-1. This is a talented team, don’t count them out yet.

  5. Dave Pear Says:

Much more likely to be a case of the runs on the table.

  6. Buc4evr Says:

Coen will be the next HC in January. Todd will be banished. Bucs defense coupled with stupid coaching decisions will insure that the Bucs don’t make the playoffs.

  7. richbucsfan Says:

They may win a max of 2. They’ve packed it in. The D will not magically get better. They are what their record says they are. What a disappointment. Wow!

  8. Teacherman Joe Says:

We will make the playoffs again.

And every negative commentator on here will deny they were wrong last year. And they will not admit that they are wrong this year.

And they will try get Bowles fired again next year. And every year after.

Why? Because they think an NFL coach should be animated.

    And Bowles is Stoic.

    These fans don’t know football.

We are in salary cap purgatory. We won a playoff game last year!

Bowles won us a Super Bowl by shutting down the Chiefs!

We are leading the NFL in sacks since Week 4.

You guys will never be satisfied.

I remember the years before Dungy.

    I remember the lost decade.

You negative fans have become spoiled and unrealistic.

    Bowles is a legendary coach.

We are lucky to have him!

    Go Bucs!

  9. heyjude Says:

Agreed, not a cakewalk. Teams are salivating for wins now, especially the ones in our view. The refs will play a huge part of it too.

Agree with Jake Tampa. We have Mike coming back for the Giants game.

The morale momentum will be back too. Throughout the injuries and losses, Todd hasn’t lost the locker room either.

  10. Hodad Says:

This team has already lost four home games. Did you see what Tyson Hill did yesterday? He didn’t play last time, neither did Carr. Don’t count Canales out on beating us once. Dave might know a thing, or two about attacking Bowles defense. The Chargers will be a loss, and Dallas might take their season out on us. It’ll all start next Sunday for a cold game in the Meadowlands. Wouldn’t be quick to put that W up. Good luck running the table.

  11. Permanently Moderated Says:

You always have to figure in the Todd Factor, even if the defense didn’t stink. His ability to make the wrong decisions is uncanny.

  12. Aaron Says:

Our Defense and head coach will make every game a dog fight. I keep thinking we did it last year. So I’m stuck between wanting to turn it around and do it again at the expense of keeping our head coach or hope we lose so we can move on. My Christmas wish is that we turn it around and the glaciers realize we need to get better coaching and make a move anyway.

    Go Bucs!

  13. MJ Says:

they have not won a game in a month, they forgot how to win

  14. Tony Says:

They’re gonna lose at least one more. Even with an easier schedule. I would be surprised if they ended up losing one to Carolina. The secondary is making QBs look like Manning & Brady out there.

  15. Bojim Says:

Sorry to say the Bucs are not going to make the playoffs this year and I always hope for the best. Disappointing season.

  16. German Buc Says:

Long time Bucs fans know, that we play always down to our opponents. So no game ever is a cake walk for our Bucs.

  17. Bucs Guy Says:

Biwles decisions have also cost us 1-3 losses (Atl x 2, KC).

  18. Pewter Power Says:

For a competent head coach these final games would be a cakewalk, for Bowles its Murderers’ Row

  19. unbelievable Says:

They have to go 6-1 to have any playoff chance at all.

    Anyone think that’s actually happening?

  20. BucsfaninOregon Says:

Teacherman, are you Ndog? The guy that promised glory as the Bucs sank out of sight several years ago and has gone missing. Is that you?

  21. Danny Cuebas Says:

I believe that TB has never won more than 3 straight games as a head coach for the Bucs….what makes you think we will run the table. We will lose against the Chargers and to either the Panthers and/or the Giants.

  22. drdneastup Says:

Please refrain from running those smiling pics of Bowles grill. Everytime I see one I want to smash the screen of my laptop.

  23. Bucs4EverMore Says:

So how many games did the Bucs lose the Last time We Won the Super Bowl? How the Buccaneers Handle the Chargers should help Answer Playoff Questions. 4 of 7 remaining games are on the Road, as probably Any or All the Playoff Ones. From here, it Has to be One game at a time Mentality.
