Report: Falcons Loss In Denver Was A Baker Mayfield “Moment”

November 25th, 2024

It’s not just a one-game-at-a-time, don’t-scoreboard-watch mentality at One Buc Palace.

Tampa Bay’s march to a fourth consecutive division title is serious business and all angles are considered at all times.

Last night on NBC’s Football Night in America, ProFootballTalk.com guru Mike Florio relayed that he talked to Baker Mayfield yesterday and asked him if the Falcons’ blowout loss to the Broncos on Nov. 17 was “the moment” he realized, ‘Hey, we can take this division.’

Mayfield’s response? “Absolutely,” per Florio.

The Joe typing here had the same feeling when Atlanta lost 38-6.

The Falcons (6-5) are a bad team. The Bucs (5-6) haven’t proven they’re a good team, either. But second-rate teams need lesser opponents to cure their woes in the standings. And the Bucs have five remaining on their schedule; Atlanta only has three.

  1. OR Buc Says:

Bucs have beaten the eagles, commandos and lions. The best the falcons can say is the Bucs.

  2. A Bucs Fan Says:

Both of those falcons games the Bucs should have won. I hope they meet for a third time again and the Bucs rightly crush them.

  3. PC Says:

Unfortunately, the fighting Canales’s will be ready to shred Bowles sorry defense which he will have detailed knowledge of. Stubborn Bowles will keep dropping his best pass rushers into coverage and change nothing about the scheme. Lip biting/smacking Canales is watching the tape and buying extra lip balm.

Coaching has lost 4 games for us

  5. JimBobBuc Says:

Some of these games are just about matchups. The Bucs seem to match up well with the Eagles, and even though the Eagles are playing well, I have confidence we would beat them again. I’m not sure the Bucs match up well with the Falcons since they beat us twice.

Let’s see how the two games with Carolina go… On to Carolina!

Come to play every game. Don’t play down to the opponents level. Play one game at a time! We’ll see how this all plays out.

As an aside, The Bucs extremely lucky win in Detroit may have kept Detroit from an undefeated season. Theyre that dominant. Same thing with the 98 Vikings if anyone remembers that. The Vikings with a rookie Moss were a freight train that year along with Denver. Anyway if Im a Lions fan that would bug me, should be 12-0. I get it, the point is to win the Superbowl, but no one remembers who won the superbowl in most yrs without looking it up. Going 20-0 would put you in legendary status and ABOVE every other team that has ever won the superbowl and would still be honored 200 years from now. Every other superbowl winner from there on would not be able to measure up to the team that went 20-0. Bet big win big.

  8. First Name Greatest Says:

Enjoy the wins way more than the L’s but no sane fan can realistically count on any magically run with Todd in charge here. No matter how bad the opponents are.

Bucs have the look of a 7 or 8 win team at best with one of the worst defenses in the league and a inept coordinator pretending to be a head coach. I’d be shocked if the Bucs lost less than 3 games the rest of the year. Todd is a clown

  9. Dave Pear Says:

Well said First Name. Eloquent, even.

  10. Dale Says:

We have bowles ,they have Raheem ,anything can happen

Coaching has lost 4 games for us

Everyone keeps wanting to blame one person or credit one person for successes and failures in the ultimate “TEAM GAME”.

Players on the field + coaching lost us all 6 games. Along with some bad luck.

  12. Bucsfan Says:

Baker will will this team to the division title.

  13. Saskbucs Says:

An earlier article explained why we can matchup with some big boys in the league… our OL. Problem vs Atlanta this year comes down to injuries. No Winfield and Kancey game 1, no Godwin or Evans game 2. You could say.. well the Falcons have injuries too, who? A middle of the road LB in Andersen and an OL. Not exactly the same impact.

No face mask and Pitts fumble were game changers that went against us. They also have a problem for us in their secondary with a guy by the name of Jessie Bates.

We are still the better team, I think we matchup very well vs the Panthers, real shame we got the Falcons early this season and don’t have them week 17 or 18 for the division.

  14. David Says:

Three plays. One against San Fran, one against Kansas City, and one against Atlanta, either game, but specifically in Atlanta.
Different outcomes on three plays and the Buccaneers would be 8–3

  15. Buddha Says:

We beat the Eagles. We beat the lions. Lost in overtime to the Chiefs at KC. This is not a trash team. Falcons only signature win was over the Eagles by 1 point.

  16. heyjude Says:

The Bucs almost won the two games against the Falcons. We are the better team.

Also agree with Saskbucs. So much with the Falcons games. The refs didn’t do us any favors either.

    ^^^^^^^

look at the pic…baker clearly showing he is king of the 5 o’clock shadow…

get that man a barbasol commercial

  18. Tbbucs3 Says:

The Falcons are certainly not a “bad team”……they are inconsistent but still above average.

  19. Marky Mark Says:

The chargers are the best team we have left to play but they are beatable. Two back set Whyte and Bucky. Bucky inside and whyte outside. Both can catch.

  20. BakerBucs says Says:

The bucs were not lucky in Detroit the defense showed up that day don’t forget oal

  21. teacherman Jose Says:

I’m worried about Bryce Young versus Kancey and Vea.

Bryce Young looks like a high school QB.
