More Postseason Breaks For The Buccaneers

November 24th, 2024

The football gods continue to help the Buccaneers in their quest for another Super Bowl.

Look who lost today in the NFC.

The 49ers (5-6) got hammered by the Packers (8-3). That’s a good potential happening for the Bucs’ postseason Wild Card chances. While the 49ers hold a head-to-head tiebreaker edge on the Bucs (5-6), San Francisco has a brutal remaining schedule with a trip to Buffalo up next.

Washington (7-5) also lost. They were upset at home by depleted Dallas (4-7). The Commanders have been imploding and allowed 24 fourth-quarter points to the Cowboys. The Bucs own a Wild Card head-to-head tiebreaker on Washington.

Damn, if the Eagles (8-2) can knock off the Rams (5-5) tonight, the Bucs’ Wild Card chances will have taken a massive step forward this weekend.

Of course, the goal is for the Bucs to win the NFC South. Tampa Bay sits one game behind Atlanta (6-5), which owns the head-to-head tiebreaker on the Bucs.

However, on paper, Atlanta has tough remaining games on their schedule against the Chargers, Vikings and Commanders. The Bucs, using the same on-paper gauge, have only one rough opponent — at the Chargers on Dec. 15.

Lets see if we can win the Panthers and the Raiders and after we can talk about the Playoff chances we have. We looked ahead when we were 4-2 and we all saw what happened. We are not a team that can look far ahead. Lets see the next game.
    Go Bucs

  2. Billlbuc Says:

Right on Xristos. These team will lose to the Panthers next week if
we start thinking playoffs . We are good but not great and once we think we have arrived lose a game or 4. If we are too cocky and think we are so much better
than our next opponent . Game over . And Carolina always plays us tough as division foes do. One game at a time and no more .

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

How about just beating the Panthers.

  4. Xavier woodson Says:

I think the Bucs can win the NFC South. I think the Falcons finish 9-8 with their remaining rough schedule while the Bucs finish 11-6 or 10-7. The only team I think the Bucs could lose to is the Chargers.
    Go Bucs

  5. Pink Says:

I got no problem looking forward to the playoffs, because that’s where we’re at: any losses now can unglue our season. We need to be acting like our playoffs start NOW.

  6. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

    The playoffs have already started.

  7. Bojim Says:

    Next!

  8. ReturnGrudenToRing Says:

The bucs still have that nasty habit of playing down to their competition…We shall see.

  9. MadMax Says:

we are trying….just give it time mufu

  10. SenileSenior Says:

One at a time does it. I will think about playoffs later. For now, I will enjoy this week.

    Go Bucs!

  11. Mac Says:

I think many of you are crazy thinking only game we may lose is Chargers. Toddy is still running the show and he is famous for clunkers especially against bad teams. Would be shocked if we win all the games we are supposed to. Carolina twice and Aints won’t be easy. Hate that we play Aints last game of season cause if we are in the mix with how dirty they play to come out of the game without injuries going into a potential postseason game the following week would be a miracle in a sense.

  12. Saskbucs Says:

Amen Xristos. I think we are too talented especially on offense for us to lose to the Panthers but they are playing well and Bowles can lose to anyone.

  13. orlbucfan Says:

Just do us fans a favor, Bucs, and beat Canales’ Panthers. Okay, Coen, you’re finally starting to gameplan creatively with our offense. Now you get a chance to beat Canales with a better offense. So do it.

  14. Pewter Power Says:

Yes they are getting help but will they help themselves. Still don’t trust them to run the table. I could see this defense giving up the booty to the saints like they do once a year AND if cowboys can beat the commanders they can definitely beat the Bucs.

  15. nobs Says:

panthers have a good d crowds gonna be amping them up. Please don’t
take them lightly and embarrass yourself by losing to a team you shouldn’t !

    The playoffs have already started.

    For the Bucs 1000% correct

  17. Larrd Says:

The Bucs are in it. If they can make the playoffs I like their chances there, too. They have beaten the Lions and Eagles and played the chiefs, ravens, etc tough.

  18. unbelievable Says:

    Lions
    Vikings
    Packers

Will all make the playoffs. That leaves a single wild card spot being fought over potentially by us, Atlanta, Washington and maybe an NFC West team… seems unlikely.

We need to win out and win the division. And the probably play an NFC North team in the first round… If we somehow get a wildcard, we would most likely travel to Philly, based on where it looks like all these teams are headed.

  19. Dave Pear Says:

“Playoffs? P-P-P-Playoffs??? You kiddin me? Playoffs?!

I just hope we can win another game!”

  20. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

One at a time fellas. Eight teams in the NFC are ahead of us in the standings so a wildcard is unlikely. We will have to win the division.

  21. Lightningvinny Says:

Got to beat Panthers ,,, Remember with all these teams bunched up the last playoff spot , first tiebreaker in a 3 or more team tie is NFC record ,,, Bucs would be in a front spot for that with only 3 or 4 NFC losses,,,, currently 5-3 w NFC games left Panthers 2x, Saints , Cowboys ,, so even dropping 1 we would be 8-4 which should get it done for the last spot at 9-8,, NFC west teams already have at least 4 Ls,,, But I agree with sentiment ,, beat Carolina this week and worry about all this later

  22. BuckyBuc Says:

    Thank you Philly!

  23. Dave Pear Says:

It needs to be said again, differently, it seems.

With this roster and an average real head coach and defensive coordinator plugged into the last 2 minutes of both Falcons games, the Chiefs game, and the Niners game, the Bucs would be 8-3 or better right now. The reason is clear.

Jason and the Glazers know it.

  24. D Cone Says:

When the only win in the last hand full of games is against a 2-8 team led by a practice squad QB I would not go getting all excited about Playoffs yet.

With the next game against another 8 loss team you cannot go counting Chickens.

Panthers have also played the Chiefs within one Pat Maholmes game winning drive and drove the ball for a TD inside two minutes to tie the score.

Nothing more dangerous than a team with nothing to lose going into a game that they believe that they can win. On topo of that having to beat they twice in 6 weeks.

Next facing a Raiders team that could be led by Desmond Ridder playing like he finally got his second chance to shine and taking advantage of it. That will all depend on Black Friday and his start against the Chiefs but don’t go penciling in another W.

Facing the Chargers and Cowboys back to back.

Finishing the season with maybe a must win against a Saints team that may be playing like they were in the first two weeks of the season. Would not put it passed them beating the Rams and Packers giving the Bucs some Hope and then snatching it away on the final week of the season. Lot of incentive when getting a rematch against a team that intentionally runs up the score in the 4th quarter when the games in hand.

Bucs look great against a 2-8 Giants but looking around at the rest of the NFC leaders they pale by comparison. I can see 2 or 3 losses down the stretch and the Bucs finishing 8-9 or 9-8. Will it be enough? Not if the falcons can squeek out three more wins.

  25. Bucks 'n' Bucs Says:

Sunday was tough. After the thrill of the Bucs win, I was forced to root for the Cowboys, the Packers, the Vikings and the Eagles! DISGUSTING!!!

    Anything for the Bucs!

  26. Bucs Bucs Bucs! Says:

We need to beat the Panthers first.
