Mixed Messages On Mike Evans’ Health Continue

November 27th, 2024

So head coach Todd Bowles, playcaller Liam Coen and Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht have said different things about Mike Evans in the last 72 hours.

Today at One Buc Palace, Coen said he can’t say how close Evans’ hamstring is to 100 percent.

“I couldn’t tell you the number, I just know he’s feeling better,” Coen said. “We obviously wanted to get him as involved as we could without, you know, putting him in any sort of danger. So he felt good. He felt solid. I’m hoping that will continue to grow and get better week after week. So we just got to be smart with him, though.”

Interesting take from Coen considering Licht said before Sunday’s game that Evans is “100 percent.”

Yesterday on the Buccaneers Radio Network, Bowles was asked if Evans was on any kind of pitch count or restrictions.

“No. We let him go. It was a green light,” Bowles said. “And he felt good afterwards.”

Bowles added that Evans looked good, handled double teams and helped open up the offense.

So which is it? Does Evans have a “green light” or are the Bucs following a “yellow light,” as Coen implied when he talked about avoiding putting Evans in “danger” and being smart with him.

Yeah, Joe’s obsessed. That Evans hamstring is the key to the Bucs accomplishing anything meaningful in the postseason, and possibly essential to them reaching the postseason.

Typical from the Bucswith injured guys. They usually play their cards so tight to the chest that I am not even sure they know what they are sitting on!

I hope they just want to keep their opponent guessing when to comes to Mikes effectivness out there on Sunday. I also hope Mike is truly full go otherwise I am going to lose money Sunday when I bet him for 75+ and a TD.

    Nothing inconsistent.

If you mix yellow and green, you get a shade of green often called lime green or chartreuse…essentially a yellow-green color mixture…

so basically mike could be feeling quite chartreuse…not obtuse, but chartreuse 🙂

There is no starting receiver in the NFl who is not banged up this time of the year. Some more than others. Mikes been catching passes for a long time. He’s getting long in the tooth. So I’m sure he is hurting.

  7. PSL Bob Says:

The last thing anyone needs is for Mike to reinjure his hamstring. I like Coens’ cautious approach. And since he’s the guy calling plays, what Licht and Bowles think is largely inconsequential. Probably just a smokescreen to keep opponents guessing.
