“Going To Be Close” For Tristan Wirfs And Zyon McCollum

November 20th, 2024

Quick update given today on the injuries to starting cornerback Zyon McCollum (hamstring) and All-World left tackle Tristan Wirfs (sprained knee).

Todd Bowles said it’s “going to be close” for each.

If Joe had to wager, Joe would say Wirfs is a go in a knee brace and McCollum won’t see the field.

Bowles noted that recently-promoted veteran cornerback Troy Hill will get a long look this week to see what knows. Joe presumes that meant the playbook.

Please sit Wirfs on that terrible turf.

  2. zzbucs Says:

    Agree with Wisco….

    Wouldn’t play Big T

  3. BallHawk75 Says:

Yes, we need him to run White up the gut for negative yards.

He probably should just sit this one out.

Backups should be able to beat the Giants.

  4. Saskbucs Says:

Giants have a fearsome pass rush. I think Thibodeaux is still out but Burns and Lawrence are game wreckers up there. This is an RB game, wouldn’t mind seeing some Baker rollouts away from Burns as well.

  5. Beeej Says:

Skule has proved to be a good backup, and left is his better side

  6. Anthony Says:

    Sit’em

  7. Kenton Smith Says:

It’s a sprain. Fast healer. Wear a brace and play. We need all hands on deck.

  8. HC Grover Says:

Yes Bowles. Might as well blow out Wrfs knee for good.

  9. miken Says:

I would give both of them the week off!

  10. Panhandle Buc Says:

Don’t rush them and risk a setback like Mike…

  11. orlbucfan Says:

For a “fierce pass rush,” Giants sure have a crappy record. 2-8 vs. 4-6. The teams play in the Giants home stadium. Bucs have got to be ready for their usual 2 opponents: The Refs and Giants.

  12. Mort Says:

Don’t mess with hammy injuries. Idk why they had Mike play against Baltimore. If your hamstring is at all injured, rest it. It WILL get worse and you’ll miss more time than you would’ve initially.

    FACTS.

    Define “Close” Joes.

Define “FACTS.” I’ll check back. I’ll have it on Bucs Radio Sunday.

  16. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Let the players decide if they are ready……neither wants to miss multiple games…..I’d trust Wirfs with a knee sprain & brace before Zion with a hamstring…..those can be very iffy.

  17. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

I don’t want to see either of these dudes either. If we can’t beat the Giants without them, we don’t deserve to win or ever hear the “P” word the rest of this season.

  18. HC Grover Says:

Coen will score over 30 but will Bowles keep it close and give up over 30.

  19. Crickett Baker Says:

I’ve been wondering why they keep Bob Hainsey as a back-up just for center when we know he is a good player and can also be used in a game.

  20. Woodenman Says:

If the trainer clears them and the player feels right to play who the hell are you people to say they should or shouldn’t play..
Sure are alot of opinions on here about injuries I am glad the only one that matters is the players

  21. Dave Pear Says:

If Troy Hill knows the playbook, he’ll be the first DB to know it. And if he does, then NASA should hire him immediately to decode signals from outer space.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I tend to agree…these players are pros and their very livelihood and careers depend on their health….they and their trainers know their body best.

  23. Vanessa Anne Says:

I’d rather have them both sit this one out than take a chance on re-aggravating their injuries.

“Close” is not full-go in my book.

Of course, it’s only Wednesday. Hopefully by Friday things are looking much better.
