Game 10

49ers (4-4) at Bucs (4-5)

Kickoff: 1 p.m.

Additional stations throughout Florida on the Buccaneers Radio Network can be found here. The game also will be broadcast on SiriusXM Channel 232 (Buccaneers Radio Network feed).

Weather: Warm and breezy day at The Light House, per the good people of AccuWeather.com. Tailgaters will have a really nice morning with temperatures in the mid-70s gradually rising to kickoff. Once toe hits leather it will be summer-like conditions with a temperature of 87 and winds out of the east-southeast at 9 mph with gusts up to 18 mph. These conditions should hold steady through the rest of the game. No rain is expected.

Odds: Per BetMGM, as of midnight, Bucs +6.5 (+110); over/under 50.5.

Referees: Shawn Smith and his outfit will work today’s game. When Smith and his posse work 49ers games, San Francisco is undefeated, per Sharp Football Analysis. Noteworthy: The Bucs are a top-10 team in false starts. In fact, false starts account for 46 percent of the Bucs’ offensive penalties. Smith’s gang has thrown the second-most false start flags in the NFL.

Injuries: 49ers —  Out: WR Chris Conley (hamstring), DL Kevin Givens (groin), DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee), CB Charvarius Ward (personal). Questionable: DE Nick Bosa (hip), C Joe Feliciano (knee), RB Christian McCaffrey (Achilles), S Malik Mustapha (calf), WR Deebo Samuel (rib/oblique). Bucs — Out: WR Mike Evans (hamstring). Questionable: LS Evan Deckers (hamstring), NT Greg Gaines (calf), WR Jalen McMillan (hamstring), DB Tykee Smith (knee), S Jordan Whitehead (quad).

Outlook: The Bucs will have to play defense like they did at Detroit if they hope to win this game. Christian McCaffrey is making his season debut. So he will be rested. With the 49ers the past two seasons, McCaffrey ran and caught passes against the Bucs like it was an underwear football practice. And Brock Purdy? San Francisco’s quarterback has absolutely feasted on the Bucs defense. And then there is 49ers coach Mike Shanahan and his offense. Shanahan offenses through the years have averaged over 30 points a game facing a Todd Bowles defense. This game sort of reminds Joe of the Jameis Winston era. Jameis knew his defense was so putrid that he had to put up 30 points to have a prayer of winning. That’s what today feels like. Baker Mayfield likely knows he has to put up 30 with his depleted offense for the Bucs to have a prayer — unless the defense rises up and has one of its best games of the year.

Fun facts: 49ers QB Brock Purdy has 17 touchdowns and one pick in his last six road games. … RB Christian McCaffrey is expected to make his season debut today. Last year led the NFL in scrimmage yards (2,023), rushing yards (1,459) and was tied for most rushing touchdowns (21). … LB Fred Warner in three road games this season has three forced fumbles. Also looking for his fourth straight game with a pass defended. … CB Deommodore Lenoir is looking for his fourth straight game with a pick. … Bucs QB Baker Mayfield is looking for his seventh straight game with at least two touchdown passes. … RB Rachaad White has had at least four catches in four of his last five home games. … 8+ tackles in 6 of his past 7. Aims for his 4th in a row at home with TFL. … TE Cade Otton can become the first tight end since 2020 (Travis Kelce) with at least 8 catches and 75 or more yards in four straight games. … ILB Lavonte David last year at San Francisco had three tackles for loss and a sack. In his last five games against the 49ers, David has had at least one tackle for loss. … DT Vita Vea had a career-high 10 tackles against the Chiefs. He had a sack and two tackles for a loss last year against the 49ers.

  1. Dave Pear Says:

Another national humiliation the whole world gets to see. Whether he loses in a blowout or loses because of a likely boneheaded game management gaffe, the nation will understand what real Bucs fans already know after 4:30pm EST.

  2. Mcruzer Says:

This game has not been flexed, it’s still at 1pm.

Looking forward to hearing from TB, Erin, and Kevin. Great trio!

    Worried about the refs, again.

Bucs need to be ready for everything. Like Ira said in his latest podcast, “Shanahan is crafty.” I am thinking that he definitely has prepared for a “what if” on McCaffrey coming back right off his injury too.

    Go Bucs!

Bowles play calling will cause the collapse

@Dave Pear, apparently no need to worry about a national embarrassment. According to 506Sports, the [The NFL did away with blackouts years ago. — Joe] so most ppl will need NFL Sunday Ticket to watch. It’s only $129 for the remainder of the season, but if the Bucs can’t turn it around, I might stick to following them on BSPN’s crappy “GameCast”. Lol
