Frontrunners

November 10th, 2024

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

So we have officially reached the bye week. The Bucs are 4-6.

Other than calling the Bucs a bad team — you are what your record says you are — Joe thinks it is fair to judge what a team is through 10 games.

So in the spirit of looking at the Bucs prior to the bye week, Joe believes this team is a frontrunner. Meaning, they can’t get the job done from behind.

Oh, the Bucs can sometimes catch up. The game at Kansas City is proof of that. And, of course, it happened today against the 49ers when the Bucs took a lead in the fourth quarter.

It’s just when the Bucs do get back into the game, they can’t close the deal.

The Bucs are now 0-5 in games in which the opponent scores first.

Sunday, the Bucs trailed 10-0 before they began to wake up. It was clear the 49ers, both offensively and defensively, have more firepower, or at least they played with more determination and spark.

If not for 49ers kicker Jake Moody having a terrible day, this game wouldn’t have been close.

So with seven games left in the season, Joe thinks it’s more than fair to say the Bucs cannot win a game from behind. Thus, they are frontrunners.

Frontrunners for the 1st draft pick

  3. BucThis Says:

How about front runners for a new HC?

  4. Tucker Says:

Think Joe blew a fuse not surprised with how uninspiring this team is playing same excuses from bowels nothing is getting better making the same mistakes every week soft zone disaster once again just wild.

  5. AllmanbrosBucs Says:

For last place in the NFC south….

  6. Xristos Says:

Like i said in a previous article.
We are 1 win better than the Panthers and the Saints after 10 games.
    That says it all.

  7. PewterStiffArm Says:

They stink away and they can’t win at home. No killer instinct, what is the common denominator? The head coach has been given enough opportunities and he continues to disappoint. By the way, we still don’t have a pass rush and we will not this year.

  8. Td Says:

Why is Toilet Bowles still on the sideline. The defense has failed religiously for weeks

  9. BakerFan Says:

Too many injuries, too many players taking plays off and then getting exposed, a defense that is as porous of any defense that I have ever seen.

This comes down to conditioning and coaching. New coach, 2 weeks to fix a defense if it can be fixed and make the stretch run. Let Coen take it over and if he can not salvage it then he probably isn’t the guy for it.

  10. #1bucsfan Says:

Defense is a joke. Same thing every week. Wide open receivers all over the field. Game was better than I thought it would be but man those refs are trash like the defense.

  11. Tye Says:

Bowels is useless so I too hope it is for a new HC!

  12. Josh Says:

They needed two scores within approximately five minutes. That’s why, at the 12-minute mark, I was hoping for a long 5-7 minute touchdown drive, but they went three-and-out instead. Football is a game of inches, and timing comes down to seconds every week. Todd Bowles doesn’t seem to understand this, and I’m not sure Cohen does either, honestly. Both of them are capable of coaching their side of the ball—don’t @ me. Bowles has dealt with an absurd number of injuries on defense this year. Are they playing well? No. But given the injuries and deficiencies, they’re not performing as poorly as many suggest. Cohen has had just as many injuries and it doesn’t seem to be effecting his offense as much. I wonder why? Scheme to fit personal maybe???

If I wasn’t concerned about losing Cohen, I wouldn’t be in favor of firing Bowles, (firing a coach midseason doesn’t make you a better team) assuming he’d be willing to accept a demotion to defensive coordinator whi h is doubtful. He’s honestly a solid defensive corsinator, but he needs someone to overrule the soft coverage at the end of games, call timeouts when appropriate, and bring a MORE aggressive mindset that can also influence the offensive coordinator.

They needed a touchdown there to go up by four points, not just to tie the game. He played not to lose again… and once again, they lost.

Or was running the ball there Cohens call???

  13. BallHawk75 Says:

Only thing we can rely on is losses.

    Lots and lots of losses.

At this point I’m getting used to it.

Let’s just plow through the next two and a half years of Bowles.

He’s going no where with the Glazers in charge.

  14. Let ‘em bake Says:

I like Todd Bowles . I think the decision is simple. If he somehow gets this banged up team to the post season, he will return. Hard to fire a coach who goes 10-7. Truthfully, this game should’ve never been close. I’m thinking the timing between baker and the receivers on these short, hard cut routes will improve . Those short misses hurt. But, the niners are simply a more talented group. Undrafted free agent secondary doesn’t help. As a teacher for 34 years, I say what I would tell parents: “ I can only work with what you send me “.

  15. Gipper Says:

    It’s Mayfield’s fault.

  16. Big Wally Says:

Really struggling for material with this thread. Too bad you can’t whine about the refs today with so many calls going the Bucs way.

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Plenty of blame to go around…:Offense stalls….defense soft…,coaching poor….,

  18. BucsBeast Says:

It’s gonna be hilarious when the Giants and Panthers continue to expose Bowles defense.

  19. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

The refs did just about put us in the end zone on that final drive.

  20. unbelievable Says:

The loss is frustrating but some of you hilariously dramatic.

Bucs are not even remotely close to front running for the 1st pick in the draft, or 4th place is this division.

Most likely we end up 9-8, finish 2nd in the South, and don’t make the playoffs.

Which is exactly what I said after the Ravens loss.

  21. Darren caputo Says:

Todd bowles need to be let go. Bring back arians as interim Jc and then bring back gruden or get bellicheck or both. A waste of talent. Todd cant coach and our defense sucks. Turn the page.

  22. Nprbuc Says:

    Fire Bowels tonight!

  23. VOT Says:

This is a bad defense regardless of the injuries with no fix in sight and our HC is 3 years in picking his own players and system

Seriously doubt we win more than 3 games to finish the season

7-10 sounds about right and hopefully will get Todd booted to the curb

We are going nowhere with him at HC

  24. Mike Johnson Says:

Frontrunners in probably finishing below 500 and Frontrunners for a new HC. Ohh, and frontrunners in having one of the top 5 worst Defenses in the NFl. Thats what our Bucs are frontrunners in.

  25. Irish Laughter Says:

They will be 11-6 and playoff bound by the end of the season. Look who they are playing the rest of the way. The Bucs (by far) are better than any team they will face from here on out. I am definitely not losing hope yet. Keeping it real in Skibbereen, Ireland. Good night.

  26. Cobraboy Says:

Buc fans have been here before.

    More often than not.

  27. Florida Cat Says:

    Belicheck watch starts now

  28. Florida Cat Says:

    @Gipper lmao

Dude is playing as well as he can and is a bright spot along with this running game starting to show promise for the first time really since Doug Martin.

  29. BucU Says:

This product is garbage. Straight up. Bowles does what Bowles does. Send him packing.
