Falcons Clobbered In Denver

November 17th, 2024

“We’re in this, Mike.”

As Joe wrote last Sunday after the Falcons fell to the slimy Saints, Atlanta quarterback Kirk Cousins is far below average this year when he’s not facing the Bucs.

That played out again today as the Falcons (6-5) were clobbered 38-6 in Denver. In 9 games not against Tampa Bay, Cousins has registered an impotent 9 touchdown passes against 8 interceptions.

And Cousins injured his throwing shoulder and elbow last week.

Joe also wrote about Cousins and the Falcons likely to choke through their next three games, and today was No. 1 on the list. Next up, it’s a bye week for Atlanta, then they’ll host the tough Chargers and then head to the Vikings (8-2).

Joe very much would wager on the Falcons falling to 6-7.

Now the question is whether the Bucs at 4-6 can beat the brutal two-win Giants, the sad three-win Panthers and the tanking two-win Raiders over the next three weeks.

Wouldn’t that be something if the Bucs found themselves in first place heading to play the Chargers on Dec. 15?

Time to make it happen guys

  2. firethecannons Says:

It was very fun to watch, Bo Nix is getting better, Broncos will be a contender. falcons looked honestly awful. Enjoyed the game.

  3. Bobby M. Says:

Cousins is lucky our “communication” wasn’t working…..

    Bobby m 😂😂😂

  5. Xristos Says:

I mean that says it all about this Defense.
In the other 9 games 9 TDs and 8 INTs.
In the 2 games vs us he is like the MVP of the season.
There are no excuses and nothing more to say. It is shockingly bad.
This team with this Defense is unlikely to go anywhere even with the soft schedule.
The point is that the team under coach Bowles is not progressing.
We had a similar start last year, made a run and went in the playoffs even won a round. The team must progress, must show signs of improvement. And yet here we are, in the same place we were last year. That is not progress. Its just mediocrity.
    Go Bucs

  6. Larrd Says:

I have seen the wheels fall off a Raheem Morris wagon before and it can get pretty ugly, lol.

  7. I Remember 21 Says:

Even if the season plays out the way Joe describes, is this the way we want this team to perform year after year? Have a long losing streak in the middle of every season, only be able to beat crappy non playoff teams, get embarrassed every time we play a prime time game, back in to the playoffs, lose in the wild card or win only the first playoff game? I don’t know how supposed fans can root for such ineptitude. I’d rather we be a 2 win team than this 9-8, 8-9 middling slop that keeps a loser coach and ends up with the stinking 19th pick in the draft or some crap. You never get better like that. If some of you can hang your hat on us beating a dumpster fire of a Philly team as some sort of accomplishment to look back fondly on, I don’t know what to say other than we are not the same. Is double digit wins in a 17 game season too much to ask for? Is it too wild to expect teams to fear seeing us next on their schedule? Maybe that’s why we are so mediocre, because the fans accept it. Not me. I have higher expectations for a team that I’m gonna root for.

  8. BA’s Red Pen Says:

The Falcons are sorry. The Bucs will overcome Todd Bowles (• Little Confidence) and win the division. Again.

  9. Pewter Power Says:

As you can see by the Bowles polls most with common sense don’t have confidence in Todd. We shouldn’t be 4-6 right now.

  10. Lefty Says:

Although I’d like to see Todd go away, preferring to lose over winning doesn’t make sense either. The Bucs were damn close to getting past DET in the divisional round last year, so there’s that…

hotlanta not looking so heated no mo

  12. Orange Republic Says:

Falcons have three tough games ahead compared to one for the Bucs, which should lead to 9-8 and 10-7 records. That would give the Bucs an inside track to NFC South Championship. 9-8 probably does not catch the Vikings so it’s NFC South Championship or the couch. Saints coming to town on Jan 5th likely determines the division….

  13. NJbucs23 Says:

A lot of these teams in the NFL stink on ice. How in the world we beat Detroit week 2 without kancey, Winfield, and vea for lot of the game? I don’t get it

  14. Dave Pear Says:

“ Wouldn’t that be something if the Bucs found themselves in first place heading to play the Chargers on Dec. 15? “

    LOL. ROTFLMAO.

    Bwaaahaaaahahahaaaaa.

    That is hilarious.

  15. RagingBrisket Says:

Sad 3 win Panthers?,..Bucs only have 4 wins. I think the Saints are just a half game back if the Bucs. This division is miserable and no one deserves to win it.

  16. Pops Malone Says:

Lets see if our Genius Coach Bowles can fix his b.s. communication issues on defense so we can beat the garbage Giants next week. I doubt it…..

  17. Jeff Says:

Clueless Todd’s defense is the problem. He’s gotta go. Cohen to HC/OC and hire a young sharp defensive mind for DC.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Cousins read JBF and was motivated by the constant trashing by Joe….he therefore showed up against us.

  19. CleanHouse Says:

I just looked at the playoff picture and realized something…
    We suck

  20. Buc4evr Says:

Bowles better light a fire under the Dline and do something about the secondary. Hopefully Edwards can help those losers.

  21. Dave Pear Says:

Algo hates a good laugh apparently. Glad the Mods are locking things down — can’t tell whether it’s zone coverage or man coverage.

  22. Pelsbuc61 Says:

I Remember 21 said it perfectly. There is an intensity of play good teams show that’s sorely missing especially from the Bucs defense. Hoping for other teams to lose is not the way to build a championship team. This team is soft like it’s coach.

  23. gp Says:

    Just think
If we had fired Bowles (rightly) after he quit on the playoff game in Detroit last year…
We could have been in the running to get Harbaugh
A coach who plays to win as opposed to playing ‘not to lose’
What a difference this year would have been.
    Oh well……

  24. Dave Pear Says:

Cleanhouse- perfect. A real head coach and it would be different. A defensive coordinator who understood that it’s ok to get close to the receiver you’re covering on defense might help.

  25. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

So we’ll have Mike Evans and some help on D with Mike Edwards. We gotta keep control of the time of possession and score. We can’t leave our defense out there long drives ending in points, like six, come on baby, Let’s Go Bucs!!!! Let’s do it for Chris Godwin, finish strong!!!

  26. Jugheadfla Says:

Isn’t it frustrating as hell Joe, sitting here watching this Bengals Chargers game, at how many contested passes there are really from both defenses and we can get a freaking defensive back within 10 yards of a receiver. Anyone out there that thinks Bowels isn’t the problem is delusional.

  27. Jugheadfla Says:

    *can’t

  28. Buccup Says:

Tampa Bay is the king of making average opposing quarterbacks look like Pro Bowl QBs. It’s been that way for decades.

  29. Biggun Says:

    Lets go Bucs!

  30. Dave Pear Says:

gp with the keys to the Mazerati. Meanwhile we are driving the Rambler with the weak engine.

  31. Statguy Says:

At this point I’d rather us just play man coverage all day and make the other team beat us and at least give our players a chance vs Bowles scheming the other team open with horrible zone

  32. Dave Pear Says:

Statguy — dingdingding winner winner wings for dinner. At least everyone would know their assignment and also who screwed up. There’s also this thing called double coverage that can help. But that’s too simple, and the current fraud basks in the fading glow of his “genius” label. Here’s a guy who had two of the better press-man corners in the game and never played press man. Shipped the better one off for a plate of dead snook. Now we haszn a group that can’t play zone or man, but at least they can’t stop the run either.

Can you please send your resume’ to One Buc Place?

  33. MadMax Says:

Losers and they beat us twice, how? HC..bye todd….love him as a person but hes just not made to be a hC

  34. Leopold Stotch Says:

No reason why we can’t win out, except for maybe the Chargers. Unless we make it to the NFC Championship game (highly doubtful)… I would like to see Bowles gone. We should have a much better record, injuries be darned. If a certain HC can’t adjust his defense, that’s on him. Coen is/was down: Goedeke, White, Evans, Godwin, McMillan, and Wirfs, yet he has only one game where he was just “meh” ONE GAME! Bowles has way too many. He’s too stubborn and it’s KILLING this team.

  35. Zoocomics Says:

Even with Cousins having career games against us, we should have still won both of those games. Smh.

  36. heyjude Says:

Looking forward to our next games!

The refs helped the Falcons in our games against them. Agree with Zoocomics too, they were close games and we really could have won.

  37. D Cone Says:

Payton carved up the NFC South, sweeping all 4 teams, and giving up an average of 9.25 Points.

Who’d a thought that the best that the division could give them came from Canales and the Panthers losing 24-14. Saints managed 10 points, Bucs 7, and the Falcons 6.

Will have to see how CAR does next week vs the Chiefs before I put two automatic Bucs W’s down for the remaining games.

  38. Mike C Says:

Ahhh someone who knows the definition of “clobbered “….. other people are not so educated.

  39. Saskbucs Says:

The Bucs do not suck. Yeah the division is rough but the Bucs played one of the hardest schedules in the league so far, have had a lot of injuries to key players and have to contend with poor officiating and Todd Bowles game management.

Considering all that, the Bucs are still the same good team we all thought they were, just more adversity than anticipated. Even if they blow it in the 2nd half, I won’t be able to call this a bad team. We have a shot at the division still, I think we give it a good run. Hope so for my gambling futures anyway! First Falcons loss just gnawing at me still.
