Cade Otton Makes History He Doesn’t Want

November 5th, 2024

Star is born?

Who knew something good could come out of something horrible? But it seems that’s what has happened with Bucs tight end Cade Otton — and he’s not happy about it.

In the last three weeks, Otton has been on fire. With his team-leading 77 yards receiving Monday night along with a touchdown, Otton tied a second-place record for the longest streak of games for a tight end (three) with at least eight catches and 75 yards receiving.

The guy who owns the record? Otton played against him Monday, Travis Kelce (who has six straight games of eight+ catches and 75+ receiving yards).

Otton wasn’t happy about it. Why? As Otton tied this mark, the Bucs have lost all three games. He told Joe after the game he would much rather the Bucs win than become the answer to some bar trivia question.

“It’s a cool thing, I guess,” Otton said. “But we haven’t won the last three games. That’s my biggest focus.”

Well, the Bucs didn’t lose because of Otton, that’s for damn sure. If the Bucs have to lose, at least a flower is blossoming out of the manure the team is dropping on the field.

7 of the Bucs’ 9 games have been against teams that currently qualify for playoffs- including arguably the 2 best teams in AFC and 2 best teams in NFC.
The remaining schedule is mostly against teams with losing records.
If Bucs play like they did tonight and get players like Evans, McMillan, Dennis and Dean back they can make a playoff run.

Other than the facts that Bowles STILL has time management problems and the ref calls stink, and we lost, I thought it was a terrific and exciting game!

    Micmillian is horrible

Get okayers like Mc millian back?
What has he showed to be stealing reps from Shepard?

cade can really ball…we have a legit receiving tight end…that hopefully when mike and chris come back, still gets his targets…

often with a healthy receiver group, he was a forgotten man in the passing game…

Dennis is out for the year, I’m pretty sure and they really need Bryce Hall back, but I think he is out for the season as well

About McMillan, I heard on a PR podcast last night that certain Bucs including Baker are not happy with McMillan as he kind of took himself out of consideration for playing in KC. Not sure if this story has any traction but after what AR15 did in Indy last week, tapping out is not a way to endear yourself to your coaches and teammates. Look if the kid is injured, I get it, he saw what happened to ME14 but yeah, so far he has been a disappointment as a day 2 draft pick.

McMillan will hopefully come around at some point.

Cade has turned into a badazz.

    @AlanBucsFan:

The teams the Buc’s have played thus far have a combined record of 59-25. Only one of those teams is below .500 (New Orleans). The teams we’ve beaten have a combined record of 22-12, while the losses add up to 37-13. IF ANYONE had told me at the beginning of the season that we would be the ONLY team to beat Detroit, take KC to Overtime, and beat Philly and Wash, I’d has asked what kind of dope they were smoking. And all of this with major injuries on both sides of the ball.

It sucks that we’ve lost 2 OT games without even a chance to play (maybe we need to hire a coin toss specialist???). That rule needs to be changed, and Todd is on the rules committee…

The 2nd half is WAY, WAY easier – I think only one team in the 2nd half currently has a winning record.

But this team, without the injuries, is among the best in the NFL. It may not show this year, but it will soon.
