Baker Mayfield Said He Did Not “Lobby” For Two-Point Conversion Monday
November 6th, 2024It’s the story that never ends, nor should it for a long time.
Joe is over forgetting and accepting games being thrown away for no good reason, and then hearing new excuses by the day as for what a crazy decision was made.
After seeing Bucs coach Todd Bowles come up with his seemingly fifth different answer for why he didn’t go for the kill shot Monday night, “this Joe” is getting more convinced by the day it wasn’t Bowles’ call.
Sorry, “wet conditions” didn’t make sense when the Arrowhead Stadium field was still wet moments after the game, and it doesn’t make sense nearly two full days later.
The decision to not go for two on Monday night? Baker Mayfield was not involved, so he suggested today at One Buc Palace.
“No, I didn’t lobby for [two],” Mayfield said. “I mean, hindsight is 20/20 when you look at it. [We] had a little momentum there on the long drive. They were gassed a little bit but, you know, hindsight is 20/20.
“You’re hoping to win the coin toss. I’m not a fan of the overtime rules. Obviously it’s gotten us twice now so yeah, overtime rules – not the best.”
If Joe didn’t know better, Joe would swear the order to go for two came from the Bucs analytics crowd up in the press box. They are in constant communication with Bowles through games.
In his post-game presser, Joe asked Bowles if this decision was influenced by someone in his ear (headset). Bowles didn’t like that question and tried to wave off the subject.
Bowles has had like four or five different reasons/excuses to not go for two. Often when a man offers up a different answer to a simple question, it likely means he’s hiding something.
Perhaps Bowles doesn’t want to have a co-worker thrown under the bus over a cockamamie, half-baked stat?

It’s over. Doesn’t matter who made the decision. We move on.

It’s just not in his coaching DNA, he’s no Dan Campbell.

Well, maybe we can learn from reviewing our decisions? Don’t see any harm in doing that do you?

Joe … ‘It’s the story that never ends’.
Got a hunch that’s probably what your kids used to say when you’d tell them bedtime stories Joe.
Followed by ‘Please God, make him stop’.

Anyone ask Blows if he would try a 2 pointer in that same situation in the future?
November 6th, 2024 at 5:14 pm
Like it or not, and we can talk about what happened beforehand, TB, by design or accident, made the correct decision on the two point try.
30 seconds with all three time outs is more than enough for Ma homie to get into Huckabee’s range for a winning field goal.
Win the coin toss, score a touchdown and win the game.
Sure, KC would/could try to win it at the gun, but, they would also want to avoid a risky turn over.

Yes PSL Bob!! It’s over. Took the best team in the league to OT and lost. There was a chance to win, but the bucs didnt. It’s done.

Lol @ DR. And exactly what the fans are saying about Todd
November 6th, 2024 at 6:24 pm
What would we be saying if coach Bowles went for 2 and lost by 1 ? We would say he should have kicked the PA, tied the game, and went for OT.
Go Bucs !!

The overtime rules are STUPID and it shouldn’t have been such an issue. Who the f#@k thought came up with the dumb as$ format? Wtf were they thinking?

I still have the Bucs in the Super Bowl and wining it all. Keeping it real in Ireland.

I will never forget Baker’s face when they lost the coin toss. He knew. Heartbreaking. Hindsight and would of could of should of. I still agree with others that the OT rule is crappy. Each team should have a turn.

Not against pat Bartow Buc, any other qb yeah, but not that guy. You have the blade in your hand to kill the assassin, and you decide to give him a 50/50 shot at grabbing it from you?
November 6th, 2024 at 7:55 pm
Baker didn’t know what was about to happen? PM doing what TB used to do, force his will to win, time after time… PM is that good as well.. Wake Up Time Guys. You have to take those kinds of chances to prove that you have the guts to lose by at least trying cause the world knew what was going to happen..

He excuse for the timeout is garbage too. He could’ve burnt time and still used the timeout 10-12 secs later.
Do you know what the analytics said in that situation? I feel like they would say go for 2.
