Todd Bowles Admits Some Bucs Players Can’t Return To Their Homes

October 15th, 2024

Todd Bowles says some team members now feeling impact of Hurricane Milton.

When the Bucs bugged out to New Orleans with their families, including furry, four-legged members, Bowles admitted they had no idea what they may be walking into when the team returned.

Coaches, players and many staff member were hearing and seeing reports of so many Tampa Bay areas were not just without power, but were underwater from the ravages of Hurricane Milton.

For some, and Bowles did not mention who, it seems their worst fears were realized Sunday night. Bowles admitted some players are now living in hotels. So Joe guesses either their home was flooded or in the best-case scenario, they don’t have power restored.

“Right now, [the after-effects of the storm] doesn’t impact our ability to practice,” Bowles said. “We will assess the situation going forward.

“There’s a few of us that are still in hotels right now but getting to work seems to be no problem.”

Joe spoke to a Bucs defensive assistant after Sunday’s game and he told Joe he had no power.

Joe is guessing he wasn’t alone in that boat.

Looking back how the Bucs, for three quarters, manhandled the slimy Saints, Joe is very relieved they didn’t play poorly and then try to blame the storm for their heads not being in the game.

Godspeed and prayers to all the residents down there.

I’m very proud of the Bucs and the tremendous outpouring of support our state is getting. I was among the lucky Floridians, but a lot of residents got hammered. They aren’t the wealthy idiots who build on barrier islands.

We played a game in 110 degree heat, 4 days later played a heartbreaker in Atlanta. Then got hit with a hurricane and have to pack up and relocate to play N. O.

This adversity now will pay off later.

Thanks Joe… I don’t recall Milton being a registered member of any political party. Still have a house and just got power back, grateful. Internet and tv honing to take awhile. Sorry, to have missed the Aints stomp.

I’d guess power is more the issue – I know some people in Tampa that still don’t have power. There really wasn’t much storm surge in this area from Milton since it passed to the south – although perhaps they got some unlucky. I could certainly see something like a tree falling on a house, that of course would be a huge issue.

It was an odd storm however, for a one-time CAT5 hurricane that had days to build up a surge, even to the south it was well less than expected. From what I’ve read, it was more of the angle that it hit, and the angle of the state going away from the storm, that combo allowed the surge to spread out over a very large area so no one area got hit super hard. Now, had the storm made landfall in Pasco – well, a completely different storm, and the area would look very different today.
