Strong Return For Rachaad White

October 22nd, 2024

Joe has thrown darts at Rachaad White quite a bit over the past year. He’s deserved them.

But Joe has nothing against White and Joe loved how White came back strong yesterday from his bad foot. The injury caused him to miss the first game of his career at New Orleans in Week 6.

White got the start last night, a nod to team’s respect for him. Joe says that because White has not been the Bucs’ most effective running back this season.

So what did White do against what was the NFL’s best run defense last night? White was effective, running 10 times for 40 yards. And his golden hands were money. White hauled in six catches on six targets for 71 for 2 touchdowns.

Now it’s Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen to lean more on White as a receiver with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans out indefinitely with injuries.

They were garbage yards and pointe .. cmon

  2. Baker Bowl Says:

Nah, Chaad played well, he HAS TO take a step up, it’s his offense now.

  3. LVMYBUCS Says:

Hey Joe next time u see Bowles would u ask him for me WHO IS RUNNING THIS TEAM U OR UR PLAYER? Because no reason for ME or Godwin or VV Baker or any starter to be in that game at that point regardless of what the player want. Geez this coach is dumb when can we start talking about who we would like to see next season as head coach?

  4. Baker Bowl Says:

Because no reason for ME or Godwin or VV Baker or any starter to be in that game at that point

Yeah there is, they play to win football games and injuries happen. Bowles was crucified for not finishing games and now he tries to finish out a game and is back on the chopping block. Not defending him for everything but playing the starters at the end of the game is what you have to do.

  5. LVMYBUCS Says:

@Baker Bowl Says: Ravens pulled there starters

  6. MelvinJunior Says:

I wasn’t impressed at all. AGAIN, there were several times, he took the wrong lane (inside) and ran the wrong way. The guy has NO vision and ZERO instincts running the ball. He has to be out in the wide open field with space, ALL he did was just flop forward taking the 3-4 yards, when BUCKY would’ve 💯 bounced it outside for HUGE gains, on several occasions. He’s slow at attack and has no balance. It’s seriously, just a big waste of time handing HIM off the ball, at this point, when you have a MUCH better option(s) and runner(s). Now, with BOTH Godwin & Evans OUT, can we just try moving him to WR… What else do we really have to lose, seriously!?

  7. Baker Bowl Says:

    Ravens pulled there starters

Ok? We’re not the Ravens, this isn’t college, play to win the football game.

  8. LVMYBUCS Says:

No way we win this game 4th no time outs and down by 10 come on just pull ur starters and rest them for next week. I know u play to win but u have to know when winning is not realistic and you can cause more harm then help. My thing is why didn’t he say NO to starters who wanted to be out there you have to do what best for the team not players ego

  9. LVMYBUCS Says:

Yes to win or lose key player

  10. Baker Bowl Says:

That’s fair and I do see your point, I guess I just don’t understand blaming Todd Bowles for the injury, terrible situation and of all the bad things he’s done as a coach I don’t think he deserves the blame for Chris. I agree though, if he’s letting the players call the shots, Licht has some thinking to do.

  11. LVMYBUCS Says:

And that’s why ME and Godwin are hurt because we are not the Ravens or have a head coach like the Ravens

  12. LVMYBUCS Says:

What would we be saying if Baker tore his ACL with 53 seconds left in a losing out of reach game?

  13. Baker Bowl Says:

We’d be saying it sucks, like I said injuries happen, you can’t play to avoid injuries it just doesn’t work that way

  14. Smashsquatch Says:

Use Rachaad as a direct replacement for Godwin. Then start Tucker at RB, and keep Bucky’s role the same. And if JMac can fulfill the early promises set during camp, we can overcome this. The key is using White for Godwin’s role. It’s a critical position in this offense, only question is, can Rachaad block from the slot? Can’t wait to see what Liam decides to do.

  15. LVMYBUCS Says:

Yes and car accident happen as well but u try ur damnist to avoid them at all cost.

  16. LVMYBUCS Says:

Im just so pissed off because we have a good squad we just need some better secondary guys and a smarter thinking HC and we could be great again,

  17. Pmike Says:

You play until the end. Period end of discussion. Did we pull starters when we got whooped by Denver? Actually can you name a game in the last v5 years where starters were pulled? Injuries suck – they are part of the game. Let’s move forward.
Godwin was injured last year and we survived and made it to the playoffs. Of course not having Evans will hurt and put pressure on the run/other receivers. We will figure it out and stay competitive but let’s not cry about it

  18. elite bucs Says:

maybe chaad out in the slot and its the buck and tuck show. but im feeling pretty much like our promising season evaporated before our eyes last night…

  19. Mostly Peaceful Trask Fan Says:

    Move him to WR

  20. John Sinclear Says:

FYI – Riverboat Ron was on GMFB this morning, was asked that question, and stated he thinks Bowles did exactly the right thing. Play to win!

  21. LVMYBUCS Says:

    @Pmike Says:
my point that’s why Bowles has to go why chance it again you didnt see Lamar in the game in the 4th u didnt see Henry, come on there is no rhyme or reason to have ur startersno ur best player in with no chance of wining the game. Im done f Bowles and Dean cant wait until they both out of here.

  22. Matt_PcAfee Says:

It’s crazy how the Defense has fallen off a cliff. Averaging 30 points a game too

  23. LVMYBUCS Says:

@John Sinclear: Really? Ron Rivera I wouldn’t want him on the cheerleader squad for the Bucs. Wife is a Commander fan enough said. lol lol

  24. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Down WRs….could go to 2 RB sets both can receive…..

  25. Trey Says:

Dude I bet Rachaad would be an incredible slot receiver to take Chris’s place.

Cmon we don’t need a 3 headed monster at RB. We have a 2 headed monster. Tucker barely got any touches last night. He should be a feature back.

  26. stpetebucfan Says:

    Trey FTW!!!

Rachaad has the exact skill set to make a very good Slot receiver. McMillan and Sheperd out wide and more use of Cade Otton.

  27. Mike C Says:

Anyone saying “you play to the end” is a effing meat head, it is called cutting your losses, and it is the intelligent, correct decision.

  28. Buccos Says:

I’d like to see Liam Coen as the HC next year. If not we are going to lose him. Bowles is a defensive HC with a crappy defense. What is he bringing to the party at this point… Nothing

  29. Ed Says:

White was a wide receiver before he became a running back. He is perfect to target in the middle of the field, has great hands. His value is as a pass catcher. Irving and Tucker are real running backs. Since Godwin was always the underneath guy, coach White up to be the motion guy and let him run some of Godwin’s 5-10 yard routes. He has proven he can catch anything thrown near him.

  30. BA’s Red Pen Says:

1 goes to the Slot 7 & 44 tote the rock.

  31. Gotti-Dog-05-20-84 Says:

Last year it was “Bowles should have called a timeout….even with a slim chance of winning you have to play to the end and give your team the chance!!! Bowles quit on his team!!! That was inexcusable!!!”

This year it’s “Bowles knew there was no chance to win that game…he should have pulled the starters and given up on his team no matter how slim the chance to win was!!! This is inexcusable!!!”

    Funny how the pendulum swings……

  32. unbelievable Says:

Ravens pulled their offensive starters on their very last drive, that’s it.

Defensive starters were still playing. Roquan Smith was the one who broke Godwins ankle after going helmet to helmet on Otton multiple times.

  33. unbelievable Says:

@Gotti-Dog – the difference is, one was a playoff game where you’re down by one score, the other was a regular season game against a non-conference team where you’re down multiple scores.

Do you really not understand the difference?

Just more proof that Bowles doesn’t know how to manage game situations.

  34. unbelievable Says:

As for White- he’s now averaged 4, 7.2, and 4.9 you in his last 3 games.

Coens scheme is so much better than Canales. Really gonna need our 3 headed monster at RB now with Evans and Godwin out. Let’s see if we can still run it when teams are stacking the box on the regular.

  35. unbelievable Says:

*ypc in his last 3 games

  36. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

When you just did the unbelievable in football…..recovery of an onside kick how do you NOT think you might have a chance to come back???????? That’s why you guys watch football on TV while Bowles played it in college AND the NFL!!!! He might not be a great coach and takes tooooo long to make adjustments BUT I give him props for trying to be aggressive once he even thought we had a chance to come back instead of laying down like dead fish like most of you maroons up here.

  37. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

And it’s unbelievable that you don’t understand that EVERY win and loss in football can come back to help you or bite you in your assets! Not like the Bucs haven’t been victims of that aspect of the playoffs have they???

  38. Gotti-Dog-05-20-84 Says:

Do you really not understand the difference?”

I understand that you can approach a competitive game as a competitor…..or as a participant. I always chose the former…at all times under any circumstances. Sorry you don’t see it that way……

  39. Bobby Says:

White still looks like he runs in slow motion. He doesn’t hit the fast at all. He still pauses and hesitates before hitting the hole.

  40. GoneGator Says:

Our backs are our most dynamic playmakers now. On Liam to switch things up and game plan/scheme accordingly. Going to have to lean on our new rush game and more play action

I imagine Coen’s working on that already.

  41. Bobby Says:

Sean Tucker won offensive player of the week a week ago against the Saints. Then he barely touched the ball against the Ravens!? Why sense does that make?

  42. Bucswin! Says:

All in all if the defence is giving up 5td, 500+ yards, 40+ point games. Doesn’t really matter. You can withstand turnovers and bad calls, if you have a good D, which we don’t. Hasn’t been since the Rams loss. Go BUCS!!

  43. unbelievable Says:

@Gotti – for the record I didn’t have a problem with him playing the starters at that point, I was illustrating the difference in the importance of those games.

  44. GoneGator Says:

Joe has thrown darts at Rachaad White quite a bit over the past year.

    That’s an understatement – lol.

Meanwhile RW will just quietly lead the team in scrimmage yards again much to the dismay of the Bucky Bucky cheerleaders who’ve repeatedly called for him to be demoted.

We have 3 talented backs that all can catch! That’s our strength, especially now. Coen needs to recognize and design/scheme accordingly. We CAN still have a good offense but we need to adapt big time now.

Defense is a different story…. I don’t know what to say about the D. 😔

  45. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

Hindsight is 20/20. BUT a little foresight might’ve been the right move here given the loss of ME.
