Report: Derek Carr Expected To Miss “Multiple” Games

October 9th, 2024

The latest.

After slimy Saints quarterback Derek Carr got knocked out and headed to the locker room Monday night, (this isn’t to say Carr is “slimy,” just that he plays for a slimy organization), initial reports were Carr suffered an oblique injury.

That sort of makes it hard to throw… anything.

After losing to the Chiefs, Carr only said, “Not good.”

Well, yesterday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported that Carr indeed is “expected to miss” multiple games. His first game is Sunday against the Bucs.

Now Joe automatically assumed the slimy Saints would start Jake Haener, a second-year quarterback out of Fresno State. Haener entered Monday night’s game having never thrown a regular season pass in the NFL.

But hold up! Garafolo further reports that former South Carolina/Oklahoma signal-caller and five-star high school recruit, rookie Spencer Rattler, may get the nod.

Rattler showed sign at Oklahoma of being a star, finishing 2020 with 28 touchdowns, eighth in the nation. But Rattler fell out of favor with Lincoln Riley the following year before being benched for Caleb Williams. The rest, as they say, is history.

But Rattler had some moments after transferring to South Carolina, hanging 438 yards and six touchdowns on Tennessee in 2022.

Joe received a text from a Bucs fan last night who stated, “Todd Bowles better beat this guy. Even Billy Napier dropped an “L” on Rattler.”

  1. SB Says:

I said last night basically the same thing. Saints without a Carr is a welcome sight especially if we don’t get Kancey and AW back.
    GO BUCS!!

  2. adam from ny Says:

it’s only fair…we are not getting lucky here…we are and have been one of the most banged up teams in the league…there’s gotta sometimes be some balance, and the sea-saw is balancing out a bit with this one

  3. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Rookie QB?
No problem says Todd “soft zone” Bowles, we got this!

  4. Leopold Stotch Says:

I would rejoice, however… Rookie QBs VS Bowles doesn’t always mean a dub. I think we got lucky with Daniels. He overthrew a lot of deep passes, Levis is in over his head. Could be good. I sure hope it is good. We need to come out angry and honestly run up the score. Hoping for a huge win.

  5. heyjude Says:

Listening to Ira’s latest podcast, “Bucs need to play as if Carr is the QB.”

Leopold is right too, we got lucky with Daniels first NFL game. He is now a rising star. Back up QBs can surprise us. Need to put on the pressure. We can win this in their dome.

  6. Hodad Says:

We already lost to a rookie QB at home. If we played Washington again we’d probably lose to another rookie. Rattler can run. J.D. ran for 2 TDs against us, Nix one. I do not trust this defense against a running rookie QB playing with his hair on fire at home in the dome with his city, and team behind him. This isn’t a trap game, we’ll be lucky to win. We’ve seen this to many times before. I’m sounding the alarm.

  7. Buc2Blame Says:

If they start Spencer we will lose 🤷🏾‍♂️ running QB with an arm Bowles will nut up and allow him to look like QB1

  8. Xristos Says:

    Oh boy, oh boy.
We have seen this movie before. Cant wait to see 10 yards off coverage.
What you think is the more possible headline the day after the game.
Bucs win or Saints have found the QB of the future ?
    Its a coin flip.
    Go Bucs

  9. Permanently Moderated Says:

This team has a history of making back up QBs look like Hall of Fame candidates.

  10. FortMyersDave Says:

I agree with Leopold. I sincerely hope that Bowles does not dial up a scheme where Rattler or Haener which makes them NFC player of the week. With Bowels it is a distinct possibility whereas every other NFL coach with the possible exception of the now fired Saleh and the Aint’s Dennis Allen (2 other stubborn defensive coaches with poor decision making habits) would bury the kid.

  11. FortMyersDave Says:

Hodad, Line moved from Saints by 2 to Bucs by 3.5. That smells like a trap game to me. If the line suddenly drops to Bucs by 2 or 2.5, that will tell me the wise guys loaded up on the Saints. Beware of home dogs, especially when someone like Todd Bowles is the opposing coach……

  12. PSL Bob Says:

Oh no!! How many times have the Bucs been throttled by rookie or back-up QBs? The D better have their act together this week. Hopefully, Baker is able to score quickly and we put this thing away early. Don’t need another nail biter, and certainly don’t need another L.

  13. DBS Says:

And of course the Todd Bowles defense will be ready for trick plays. I mean they will line-up 2 QB’S and the defense won’t have a clue but every fan in the world will.

  14. orlbucfan Says:

Bucs owe us fans in Central FL another morale booster/win, Got the same feeling about Philly when Helene hit. Hopefully RJS and the Bucs’ trading facilities don’t get too badly damaged by the storm surge.

  15. Dave Pear Says:

Rattler’s career will start off with Todd making him look like Rookie of the Year.

    New Orleans Ready, Todd!

The defensive masturmind will cross them up by rushing a safety and a hairdresser and dropping 9 into soft zone so nothing goes over their head.

  16. SenileSenior Says:

And no status report on Winfield and Kancey.

  17. stpetebucfan Says:

“Even Billy Napier dropped an “L” on Rattler.””

That is some SERIOUS shade! LMAO. With apologies to my UF buddies although I wonder if the “unknown fan” who created this was a frustrated Gator?

  18. DCone Says:

Looks like it will be Rattler. Kid led the Big 12 in 2020 in Passing as a Freshman and did pretty well at S Carolina as a Senior.

He’s going to throw the ball and just might turn it over a time or two or may be reluctant and tuck it and run for the sticks. Rattler was throwing to Legette last season giving him experience throwing to NFL level receivers.

Carr might not have a job in a Couple weeks if this ‘Late Round’ comes in and Balls Out.

Saints are still favored by 2.5 which is a little shocking,

This game could be a lot closer than people might think. Saints still have a lot of weapons.
