Precious Hands Of Bucs Running Backs
October 29th, 2024So Rachaad White is one of the all-time greats when it comes to catch percentage.
The third-year running back has hauled in 89.3 percent of the balls thrown his way in regular-season action. (Joe would have liked to see White get a lot more separation from defensive end Matthew Judon running a deep route on Sunday, but that’s a story for another day.)
In 2024, White ranks sixth in the NFL in catch percentage at 90.3. But he’s not the best on the Bucs.
That honor goes to rookie running back Bucky Irving. He’s caught 20 of 22 balls sent his direction, or 90.9 percent, good for fourth-best in the NFL.
Man, Baker Mayfield must feel like he landed in quarterback heaven in Tampa. He’s got a Grade A offensive line, two running backs with elite hands and all kinds of weapons.
It doesn’t even feel surprising that Mayfield leads the NFL in touchdown passes, is second in passing yards and has a career-high completion percentage of 71.1 percent.

It only goes to show that Baker is not the issue with the team, it’s not the RB’s, it’s not even the second and third string receivers (although they have all shown at times that they need more experience – hint, that means you JMac and Miller). Heck, it’s not the O-line. It’s not the TE’s…no, they’ve been doing ok. So where’s the fault? If you can’t tell, the DEFENSE…of all things…the place where our illustrious coach prides himself…has been exposed and is just a complete mess right now. It’s both why they get the job…and why they eventually lose it. Pride and stubbornness. Not playing to your players strengths, whatever they are. I can only hope that SOMETHING opens TB’s eyes…because right now he’s like an emu (or ostrich?) with his head in the sand. Time will tell if he pulls it out…but I’m not holding my breath.

This Bucs offense has a shot to be our best offense all time. We can play with just about anyone… But our defense is literally Swiss cheese… If Todd Bowles doesn’t give up play calling or switch things up he’s definitely got to go because he’s actually now holding the team back.
Side note… I hated how Devin White behaved last season BUT could his situation have been mishandled? I think its clear as day now that Britt is horrific and a practice squad player at best. Good dude and I don’t mean to be so harsh but he has no business being on the starting defensive unit. If I was white and got benched for this guy I would be pissed to. The Britt experiment is a disastrous downgrade from White even with his personal issues.

Hit the nail on the head. It took a few weeks but after the past couple it’s so glaringly obvious the defense is more useless than a screen door in a submarine. At the beginning of the season I started saying if we could continue to score 30 we’d be able to win but man, that number has to be like 45 at this point for the offense to feel comfortable.
There is no excuse when the defense has Todd’s ideal personnel and we’re still giving up 30+. I think Todd’s ‘defensive mastermind’ and Dave Canales’ ‘QB whisperer’ tag are about as true as each other.

I’m a huge fan of both Mayfield and Liam Coen, but stop with the cute play-calling. We aren’t the Lions and don’t have the horses on this team to pull off trick plays. What I don’t get is the fact that we were moving the football without the BS. The Offense scored 26 points and should have been more even without the help of the D.

Now if he would just cut down those critical end zone interceptions, we’d be totally good to go.

Just get a HC in here that knows what they are doing please.

Take away these 2nd quarter turnovers and the offense could still do special things without Mike and Chris. I get that Mayfield is trying to carry the team on his back as he see that he probably has to put up 35 to 40 points given how the defense has gone “Mike Smith” but Coen has to reel him in a bit and get him to dial it back so he is not trying to force these balls into picks. The only way the Bucs are going to stop opposing offenses is to keep them off of the field with a solid running game that chews up the clock.

Good put him at WR and let the actual running backs run the ball

Bowles is a super bowl winning DC.
His players never give up.
We are dealing with salary cap issues.
If we had more money, we could afford a few more pieces. We don’t.
We are a solid team. With a great coach. Go eat some chips and stfu.

This may not make sense, but I think Bruce Arians was more a Super Bowl winning HC than Bowles was a Super Bowl winning DC.

Go Bucs !!

Checking the numbers, isn’t Jessie Bates leading the Bucs in completion percentage? I believe he’s 3 out of 3 from Baker. Am I right?

8 interceptions in 3 weeks. On this pace that 28 for the season (2.33 x 9 more games). Jaimes got fired for tossing 30.

Nice agenda filled fluff piece to feed the fanbois. If you can’t a pass 2-8 yards away then you don’t deserve to be on the field. If 90% of the passes Mayfield throws is between 5-15 yards then he better have a high completion rate. He can’t hit the deeper passes like most other good qbs can hit on a regular basis. With a defense like ours were going to need home run plays that most announced talk about

Al Jameis got fired for throwing WAY MORE than just 30 ints so let’s stop with that foolishness. Baker only threw 10 last year and he feels he has to force it because of the defense, and from the looks of it he’s on pace to throw more ints but more importantly TDs as well. Baker has channeled his impression of Shamiss Jameis ATM at this time but yet still is a better qb and more importantly a better man than that buffoon
