Jamel Dean On Injured Reserve; Report: Vita Vea Will Play Tonight

October 21st, 2024

Gamer.

So Buccaneers No. 1 (?) cornerback Jamel Dean will miss at least four games after being placed on injured reserve today with a hamstring injury.

That’s no surprise. Dean didn’t practice all week and was hurt early in the game at New Orleans eight days ago.

Undrafted rookie Tyrek Funderburk replaced Dean last week but it’s unclear if he’ll start tonight. The Bucs could go with second-year man Josh Hayes. If Funderburk does get the nod, it’s a huge NFL starting debut for the kid under the bright spotlight of Monday Night Football.

Bucs manbeast defensive tackle Vita Vea, who also has a hamstring issue? He’ll play tonight when the Bucs host the Ravens, per ESPN.

    Let’s go Funderburk! Or Hayes!

Dean will be gone after this season.

I’m sure others have asked the question, but there has to be a reason for the increased injuries across the board. This isn’t a lucky thing it’s been going on for a while now. If I had to guess it’s some type of popular supplement like Creatine or growth hormone causing more damage than it’s worth.

  8. Josh Says:

Dean is done unless he gets some therapy; his mental game is gone. He’s too afraid of getting burned, so he plays ten yards off. Makes for easy short yardage completions I see Funderburk as an upgrade, honestly. Culp is finally active as well watch the bucs put up another 50 burger!!! GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  9. SteelStudBuc Says:

Jake Camarda is inactive again… whats up with him? Party animal?

  10. Buc4evr Says:

Dean wasn’t that good but starting a rookie means Tyrek will be targeted all night long. Probably need to play three safeties, ugh. Hope he gets lots of help, he is going to need it.

  11. unbelievable Says:

Yall cheering that Dean is out will be singing a different tune after seeing Funderburk / Hayes getting targeted all night long.

  12. ElioT Says:

Looks like a very bad matchup for the Bucs on paper, but we’ll see on the grass.

Big opportunity for young dudes to step up on Primetime and make a name.

  13. Kenton Smith Says:

Just tell Funderburk to watch McCollum and do what he does.

In Tykee we trust. Got Palmer back. Vea against Henry. LFB .. blunts rolled …

  20. BamaNBucs Says:

D-line is going to have to be on point against Henry.

  21. Esteban85 Says:

I think we will be alright without Dean. If he played with aggressiveness and laid the wood on the play in which he was injured he wouldn’t have come up lame in my humble opinion. We have Izien and other solid DB’s so I’m hoping it’s a committee of hungry MFers in the secondary.

  22. LVMYBUCS Says:

Dean is a bum always has been always will be I blame Bowles for not shipping his as out last year with that other bum Davis

Funderburk is listed as a starter on the team’s website. I guess we’ll find out for sure in about 10 minutes.

    GO BUCS!!!

Mike will be joining him now, shame he shouldn’t have pushed it after the 100th. Evans has played through the leg injuries for years and he is older now, just wasn’t going to be possible. He wanted the 1000yds but gotta listen to body.
