Hassan Reddick On Trade Block

October 15th, 2024

Get him!

Jets (?) pass rusher Hassan Reddick has made it clear he doesn’t want to play for Gang Green. So much so it has cost him millions.

Even his agency dropped him from representation. Still, he doesn’t want to be part of that mess in New Jersey.

Reddick’s brand new agent, oily Drew Rosenhaus, is already making headway, it appears. It seems the Jets have finally given Reddick permission to find a new suitor, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

And there is a team on the west coast of the east coast that might be a Super Bowl contender if it only had an edge rush. Yes, that would be the Bucs.

If the Bucs could get Reddick, now you’re cooking with gas.

Before anyone comes with the lame “He’s a cancer, he will kill the locker room,” Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht was willing if not eager to drop Sir SmokeALot into the locker room and he’s a fraction of the player Reddick is.

Also, how badly did Antonio Brown blow up the Bucs’ chances of a Super Bowl run in 2020?

If the Bucs are serious about contending this year, then they have to bring in a serious edge rusher.

Reddick is that man.

  1. A Bucs Fan Says:

Bucs don’t have the cash for him.

    Not really a fan either.

  2. BucsBeast Says:

    He’ll go to Detroit

  3. PewterStiffArm Says:

That’s weird Joe, I was just going to comment on this as the article dropped. Do you think Drew Rosenhaus has the Bucs as one of the twelve teams he is considering talking to, interesting.

  4. Ds Says:

I don’t think he is a cancer he wanted to get his money nothing wrong with that and no he is trying to get outta the mess in nj

  5. Dave Pear Says:

If he can be had on a one year deal and costs a stale twinky in trade capital, I say bring him.

    Trust Jason.

And quite frankly, in the Bucs defense, Reddick would be dropping in pass coverage 85% of the time, you know, because outside LB is the most difficult position to play in the Bucs defense.

I’d rather upgrade from Stiff Britt first.

  6. Ra'Shad Says:

    D. Adams to the Jets. I was really hoping he wouldn’t land in New Orleans.

  7. BillyBucco Says:

We need a LB,CB and TE worse.

  8. Permanently Moderated Says:

He’s champagne. The Bucs have a beer budget this season.

  9. Pink Says:

How bad did he blow up our superbowl chances in 2021?

  10. Zoocomics Says:

@BillyBucco…all the needs you listed with the exception of TE, get fixed with a solid edge rusher. Everything gets easier in the middle of the field and in the secondary if we have a stud coming off the edge.

  11. A Bucs Fan Says:

Davante Adams to the Jets! That’s why Hassan is getting traded.

  12. Lord Cornelius Says:

What a blunder that’s been for the Jets. They gave a 3rd rounder for multi month headache that they are still dealing with.

How does that even happen lol. How are multiple people getting paid loaded salaries to pull that type of failure off?

  13. Tbbucs3 Says:

Seems like a head case, but the Bucs are at least have to be doing there due diligence

  14. Bucsfan81 Says:

I would rather bring in Devin White and use him instead of Britt and blitz the hell out of white before bringing in this guy. Plus White is on the cheap at the moment as no one wants him.

  15. stpetebucfan Says:

After seeing Calijah back in lineup along with the emergence of the Kiddie Korps of Yaya and Brazwell along with perhaps the maturation of Hall, I do not wish to damage all of this with the addition of a greedy conceited star. This the BEST team chemistry since the SB team.

  16. BillyBucco Says:

    @zoocomics NOT TRUE
QBs are increasingly getting rid of the ball quicker.
Atlanta has 5 sacks, yet haven’t allowed a 300 yd passer.
I can go on and on about how bad Britt is, yet you think Haason Reddick is magically gonna make him look better?
And I guess he is gonna help double receivers with Dean in a soft zone?

  17. Beeej Says:

He is 29 or 30, and he wants a multi-year contract. He also doesn’t like to drop back into coverage, because it prevents him from getting more sacks. They don’t want that dude on the team

  18. Murph Says:

Reddick and Coach Bowles have a good relationship. After playoff game last year Reddick and Coach Bowles had a good conversation on the field. They both were stars at Temple.

  19. Alexandre Nascimento Says:

I’d be better to try to get Myles Garret from the Browns
They are out of any playoffs hopes for the next years, unless they find a way to dump Watson

  20. stpetebucfan Says:

Bucfan. My post happened to follow yours I was talking about Hassan not DW
He is a very unusual case. IF Todd signed off for the locker room AND DWs remaining talent I agree completely.

  21. Ds Says:

Wonder what Myles Garrett would cost lol

  22. PewterStiffArm Says:

Reddicks contract, obviously would be prorated this year. The compensation is the sticky part, high draft picks. Boy, would he look nice launching after Patrick Mahomes in a few weeks. Six weeks in the bag, we might save some cash there.

  23. Brandon Says:

How bad did Antonio Brown destroy the 2020 Bucs Super Bowl chances? Not nearly as badly as he ruined the 2021 Bucs Super Bowl chances… Did you really go there and think you made your point? Next question!

  24. Tbbucs3 Says:

I would pass on Reddick….the Bucs dont need a malcontent in the locker room.

    Explore other less expensive options.

  25. Zoocomics Says:

After further review, a little concern for me is Riddick isn’t as big a dude as I thought, he’s Shaq type of edge rusher, which does not bold well post-30’s imo. His size/versatility might make for a better fit in Bowles def, but imo, guys that lack the prototypical DE size “mainly” have bags of tricks after 30 vs still having some physical gifts to get to the QB. Can this guy give us at least 10 sacks? Not saying I wouldn’t want Riddick, but for how much?

  26. zzbucs Says:

Dont mortgage the future with this kind of egocentric players……..

We need humble, hungry, anti diva kind of players……..

    Not this idiots

  27. Dave Pear Says:

The algo rhythms are strong in this one. If it costs a one year deal and a token piece of draft capital, go ahead. But the defensive scheme calls for the OLB dropping into zone coverage rather than rushing the passer.

  28. White Tiger Says:

Don’t see us committing a bag to Hassan Reddick, who hasn’t demonstrated consistently to any team – nor has it been proven that Reddick is as dominant off the edge, or if he benefitted more from the Eagles OTHER edge…to get a bag from the Bucs.

Someone brought up Antonio Brown, great analogy. No AB didn’t become a cancer and destroy our 2020 Suoer Bowl run…but tell me that 2021 meltdown and how he destroyed THAT season’s Suoer Bowl run.

We need help – but the long term benefits of a Reddick trade to the Bucs definitely has an AB vibe to it.

  29. Ke Says:

Yes sir, Please pull the trigger Jason. This would be the missing piece. DTs could have 10 sacks a piece.

  30. stpetebucfan Says:

How much did AB help the Bucs SB? Could they have found a way to replace that SINGLE super talent without needing a mentally ill talent? We’ll obviously never know.

  31. Viktor Vaughn Says:

I would rather pull off a trade for Myles Garrett. This guy kinda seems like a d bag.

  32. Viktor Vaughn Says:

We need guys who wanna hit other guys with helmets!

  33. heyjude Says:

With Hutchinson injured, Reddick could go to the Lions.

It would be great if we could get him before the Ravens game though.

  34. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Why would we want him when we can bring Daquan Bowers out of retirement.

  35. doolnutts Says:

A Bucs Fan – this is incorrect. According to Spotrac we have 11 million. He is in the final year of his deal and a condition of trade would be getting new one. When you resign a guy as we have done in the past that would allow his new number this year to be significantly lower than it is today which is what happens when you resign someone because you spread the cap throughout the years of the deal.

This is could be another JPP-type moment getting him would fundamentally change the defense.

  36. ARTBCANCfan Says:

Admittedly, I never paid attention to his game but I just watched highlights of the guy and he looks amazing! If he’s not a terrible person and our teammate i would love to have him. He looks like he’d be a great fit for Bowles defense.

  37. Leopold Stotch Says:

Part of the reason I’ve been saying no is because Mr. Reddick wants a new contract. We don’t have money to give him, so it’s just pointless. Especially when Todd doesn’t value the traditional edge, and we have our own guys to sign

  38. tucker Says:

Rather trade for a mlb if they want to trade for someone rather than an older player who wants a long term deal.

  39. Saskbucs Says:

I don’t think it’s affordable this season. If it is… pull the trigger next week.

Beat the Ravens Monday night and add Reddick Tuesday… Wednesday every media outlet worth their salt has Bucs as #1 contender, in wide open NFC.

  40. Ol' Boy Says:

Yeah man. Another SUH type to lead this outfit would do us some good. Do you double team on Big V or this dude? The resemblance to the 2020 D line would be.. uncanny.
Not sure if the money is there though… Does this impede Brasswells progression? How many years at how much? I like it when the Bucs are more financially flexible than they have been, recently.

  41. Ed Says:

He hasn’t played this year so any team that trades for him is going to have to break him into their system as he isn’t in game shape and I think he didn’t practice in training camp. That means for this season he is really only going to be good to go for 8 games. I would love the Bucs to get him but signing edge rushers past 30 is dicey. The NFL has had so many injuries this year to edge rushers and we did see Shaq Barrett fall off in his game after his injury. We do need a guy like him but really only for a couple of seasons.

  42. Richard Dickson Says:

We’re going to be fighting with the Lions for any available pass rushers.

  43. JByrd Says:

Brown blew up the chances in 2021

  44. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Doolnutts- Bucs are still balancing the budget post Brady through 2025. Bucs need 20 million to roll over to next year. They can’t spend the money if they want to do that. If you give Reddick 20 million apy say goodbye to Godwin. He’s not worth losing him and a coveted mid-round pick (John Spytek is on record this season as saying they value their mid round picks over aging pass rushers). It’s not happening.
The NFL is a fluid situation, always is. If the Bucs see potential upside and Team Glazer is willing to gamble, don’t be surprised if the Bucs find an exception to their rule. Jason Licht is very close with Howie Roseman. Joe has no doubt Licht can find out anything he wants about Reddick.–Joe

  45. Joe Mac Says:

Rashad White and JTS for Reddick.

  46. Hodad Says:

Pay Godwin instead. As I recall we beat philly with him in the lineup last year. I’d rather trade for Max Crosby, Raiders are rebuilding.

  47. Hearty Dikerson Says:

We just saw this malcontent bamboozle the Jets, and now you want us to be the next sucker? And brining up SirSmokesAlot doesn’t really strengthen your argument – he conned us out of $ and never showed.

Plus did you see the recent report on Reddick – he scammed a biz partner out of $1.6M and then hired thugs to intimidate him. Yeah just what this locker room needs. Joe read that report and it’s very shaky as to what actually happened. No criminal charges filed, that Joe saw. Perhaps Joe missed that. If you noticed in that report, the business (which helps people) ended up becoming very successful. –Joe

  48. Dave Pear Says:

Trade Todd to the Jets for him.

  49. M1K3_Fanclub Says:

There’s a reason he’s on the trading block. Seems to me you’re asking for trouble acquiring this guy.

Also, it’s not going to happen. This is just another drum for Joe to bang endlessly so there’s something to complain about.

  50. rrsrq Says:

Dropping back into coverage did not prevent Shaq and JPP from getting double-digit sacks, so that is not an issue. How is a guy in the final year of a contract a malcontent? The Eagles traded him to a team that I am not sure he wanted to go to. Only Aaron Rogers wants to go play for Woody. Reddick would be fresh for the rest of the year also. let’s go get him

  51. Gipper Says:

Myles Garrett can be had from the hapless Browns. Can plug him in for another 5 years and pass rush problem solved. Going to take 1st and 2nd round 2025. Not going to find that kind of defensive talent anywhere in 2025 draft.

  52. Kwame Richardson Says:

Please Bucs please….YES YES YES !!!!!!! Go Bucs.

  53. Ed Kerber Says:

I’m all for this. And adding White back.

But if you really want to shake things up….Trade the entire 2025 draft and 1st in 2026 to the Cowboys for Micah Parsons and Cee Dee!

  54. Pewter Power Says:

Jason licht isn’t wise enough, he’s going to sit on his inexperienced no pass worries with no worries until he’s traded to the Saints or Falcons

  55. drdneast Says:

It took AB the next season until he could blow up the Bucs Super Bowl chances when they were already down Chris Godwin. Guys like him ate just ticking time bombs. Reddick played vs. us twice last season and registered zero sacks.

  56. A Bucs Fan Says:

You are right @Joe. Anything could happen and it would be an exception which makes it unlikely. Although, history says Bucs need to go outside the building to find a true pass rusher to win a SB (Rice, Barrett, JPP). The precedent is there since they haven’t been able to draft or develop a pass rusher since Lee Roy.

If they were really going to make a move I’d prefer them to go ALL IN and pry Max Crosby from the lowly raiders over Reddick (I don’t see that happening either). That’s the better play imo.

Finally, if the Bucs land either player it makes it all the more difficult to resign Chris who’s looking at 28-30 apy if he stays healthy and continues to produce all season.

  57. Booger Says:

Am I the ONLY one who read the NYPost article about how he is trying to screw over his ex-business partner (who was begged to come in and SAVE his failing company from BK in the first place), & is intimidating the poor guy!? The guy only wants his money that he is owed and obviously DESERVES. And here you have Reddick tryin to skip-out on paying his bills… When, it’s only about $1.5M. Reddick has only screwed HIMSELF. He’ll be totally broke sure enough, eventually. He appears to be completely UNHINGED. With that said, I would take him as a rental (or ‘prove-it’) for a 6th Round Pick LoL.
Joe read that report and it’s very shaky as to what actually happened. No criminal charges filed, that Joe saw. Perhaps Joe missed that. If you noticed in that report, the business (which helps people) ended up becoming very successful. –Joe

  58. M1K3_Fanclub Says:

    ^^ wow

    Glad this guy’s not GM.

  59. gotbbucs Says:

8th round pick and no new deal.

  60. Alanbucsfan Says:

Reddick wants a multiyear deal at $20 million/year – hell no!

  61. stpetebucfan Says:

Just another thought. Some have mentioned JPP and SUH! As a biased Bucs fan I find it absurd to compare Reddick to them! He doesn’t deserve to be mentioned in the same breath. BOTH Suh and JPP were GREAT team leaders the precise opposite of a locker room cancer.

  62. Dom Says:

Most realistic pass rusher option imo is Za’Daruis Smith

  63. Let ‘em bake Says:

Rogers now has a receiver who will be where he’s supposed to be. Disciplined route running is under appreciated. That’s how Brady turned no-names into stars. It’s also why Ochoa cinco was shown the door. Baker success largely related to Mike and Chris knowing the playbook. Smart guys.

  64. Jmarkbuc Says:

I’d trade JTS for a chicken tenders sub from Publix

  65. jameswillie Says:

I agree with Booger. If we can rent him for the rest of the year, go get him. But, no long term deal.

  66. Larrd Says:

Ferocious pass rush wins Super Bowls. The more rushers the better. JBF is right!

Give them a third rounder, like the Jets gave for Davante Adams. Or give them JTS and a first.

  67. Allen Lofton Says:

    No Thank you

  68. Booger Says:

Yeah, Joe… The business ended up becoming very “successful,” ONLY after he reached out to that guru (ex-business partner) to come in and SAVE-IT. His Dad and Family (with zero experience in that field) ran it into the GROUND losing a ton of money and on the verge of total ruin, without a SINGLE patient even being registered. THEN, sells the company after his new “business parter” turns it into a thriving company, & his dad shows up to a post sale meeting with about 15 goons as “private security,” while refusing to give the man his cut. Hope he has it in writing… The article made it sound-like, that was his ONLY compensation, when after the business sold!? It’s possible, though I find it hard to believe that guy never received a dime for about 2-YEARS of work… Again, he BETTER have that in writing. Also, I could see the guy maybe, just being a little scared and freaked out, after seeing the ‘pose’ show up to the meeting. Best of my memory, anyway!?

  69. Booger Says:

Well, he can forget about that big ‘multi-year’ $20MIL+ Deal at this point, cause THAT ain’t happenin… NOOOOOBODY is doin that. Best he’s gettin’ NOW, is a ‘prove-it’ deal at his remaining current contract for the rest of just this season. The very BEST he can hope for now, at this point, is that the JETS will forgive his $3-$4 MILLION worth of fines. And, that’s IT. He can forget anything else… He screwed HIMSELF.

  70. JustVisiting Says:

It’s a team sport, and team chemistry matters. If Reddick would damage that chemistry (I don’t know enough about him to judge), then he’s not worth it.

  71. BakerFan Says:

For those who are calling for Myles Garrett, if memory serves me right He has some bad blood against Baker. He took that cancer Odell Beckham’s side that split the locker room in half up in Cleveland. NO to Garrett… NO to Reddick…. HELL YES to Maxx Crosby if he is available.

  72. Bobby Says:

I predict the Bucs will not make any new splash additions for the 2024 season. That means they will not get Reddick, White or an edge rusher or anyone significant this season. If they were going to they would have already done it.

  73. unbelievable Says:

    DO IT JASON

  74. BucU Says:

“”I’d rather upgrade from Stiff Britt first.””

That’s the key here. We are getting sacks at a respectable pace now after a slow start. The need right this second is getting Britt’s replacement. He’s a massive liability in coverage. Losing Sirvocea killed any chance of having fixing this glaring issue.

  75. Buc4evr Says:

It’s time to make a trade. Third round draft pick next year. And bring back White on a prove it contract. I still think he has got something left in the tank. If the Bucs really want to get to the SB, they need a reliable edge rush. BTW, I simply can’t stand how Bowles sticks with the same under performing players every week. The excuse that they know the system doesn’t hold up very well when they can’t get to the QB.

  76. BuckyBuc Says:

Reddick against Luke and Wirfs did nothing, not impressed.

  77. bucnjim Says:

Maybe this was addressed earlier, but who says he wants to play for the Bucs? Adams came right out and said he’d love to be reunited with Rogers. Haven’t heard of Reddick or anyone else say the Buccaneers are the place they want to be. The Jets maybe should have thought about that as well.

  78. Buc1987 Says:

    Yes go for it Licht.

  79. GoneGator Says:

    Forget that guy. Egomaniac.

The Jets will owe the eagles a 2nd round pick if he’s traded to an NFC team so it’s not going to happen anyway, fortunately.

  80. Jeagan1999 Says:

The Bucks finally have one of the top offenses in the league, so why not try to add some more defensive talent to take us to the Super Bowl? I think of Jason Licht

  81. Anon Says:

The Eagles get an additional 2nd round pick if the Jets trade him to an NFC team. We need a middle linebacker a lot more anyway.

  82. Jeagan1999 Says:

Called Reddick and told him we are fighting for a Super Bowl, I think we could work something out!

  83. Danny Says:

He’s old and expensive. He’s also not very good anymore

  84. Xristos Says:

I dont know if Reddick is the answer but it is true that if this team wants to go far in the playoffs the Defense need an Edge and a CB.
The Defense needs something more. You need to make stops against good teams, bent but dont break wont work for a playoff run.
    Go Bucs

  85. GoneGator Says:

Is Maxx Crosby going to be available?
NOW that’s something worth exploring 💯🤘🏼

  86. adam from ny Says:

    do it mr.licht do it…!

he will also make life easier in the britt zone…

and winfield can protect the middle as well

  87. CalBucsFan Says:

Don’t like the idea, Bucs have a really good chemistry going right now and don’t need anyone coming on board that can poison it, including D-White.

The youth on the DL is showing great promise, so along with some injured players coming back soon, get Britt some help in the middle and the defense should be good for the long run to the playoffs.

Geez, do I love this year’s offense, thanks for leaving Canales, happy to have you Coen. That said, please don’t let him leave after one year Licht, ok, lock him up!

  88. CalBucsFan Says:

Don’t like the idea at all, Bucs have a really good chemistry going right now and don’t need anyone coming on board that can poison it, including D-White.

  89. adam from ny Says:

    ^^^^^^

yes we need a middle LB more…

or things that will make our MLB’s life easier out there…

    like a reddick and a winfield…

also, the jets are slowly and clearly becoming a hot mess at this point too, if you stay locked in on their team status…coach fired, rodgers pouting, team losing, fans wondering, etc

  90. Architek Says:

Lions will probably pay the fee to have his services!

  91. Lightningvinny Says:

Crosby won’t be available ,Raiders got to keep someone,,, Garrett could be had (Browns gathering picks) Reddick available ,,, we need someone but Todd probably thinks we are just fine!!
Maybe after Monday he will,,, it took the Ravens game for the Bills to figure out they needed a 1wr,,, Could be the Ravens again that lead us in the right direction (win or lose)

  92. BucaneroJim Says:

Missed it in the NY Post, too busy reading their article about a two legged cow winning a hotdog eating contest.

  93. Gipper Says:

For those who are calling for Myles Garrett, if memory serves me right He has some bad blood against Baker. He took that cancer Odell Beckham’s side that split the locker room in half up in Cleveland. NO to Garrett… NO to Reddick…. HELL YES to Maxx Crosby if he is available.
    =================================
Everyone including Garrett knew that OBJ was all about OBJ. Think that Garrett is a pro who wants to win. Browns aren’t going anywhere with there $240Million dollar man, Watson. No other team will pick up that contract. Browns have to begin to stockpile younger talent. What Mayfield did for the Bucs offense, Garrett can do for the defense.

  94. Ugo Says:

You people do realize we are in like 8th place in the NFL this year for sacks right?… right?

  95. Buc king Says:

Trade for him and resign white..seems like no Brainer to me…
White knows the defense and this guy is a menace off the edge..
We need white back give home 4mil and call it a day

  96. Gipper Says:

Browns just unloaded Amare Cooper to Buffalo. It has started. Myles Garrett next. Licht please call the Clowns.

  97. unbelievable Says:

@Ugo – almost all of those came in just 2 games – Philly and New Orleans.

We need sacks and QB pressure consistently.

  98. Pewter Power Says:

Why would he affect chemistry because he wants to get paid like the jets promised. If you think the Bucs are going deep into the playoffs with what the have on the edge you’re not living in reality. This offense is too good to be held back by the defense. It’s always one or the other

  99. Scott Says:

He’s not a high character guy. Doubt he’s on the Bucs wishlist. What are the chances this guy signs a team friendly deal? None

  100. BakerFan Says:

    Gipper Says:
Everyone including Garrett knew that OBJ was all about OBJ.

    ….

OBJ was the cancer that Garrett embraced. Just saying, Garrett did not even respond to Baker when he left the Browns and Baker tried to reach out to him. I just would hate for a split locker room to occur.

Who knows maybe Myles would be all in with Baker. But I doubt Browns do anything.

  101. Marques Says:

Look for Max Crosby. Look for a middle linebacker. Take advantage of the fire sales

  102. David Says:

I would love to have him. I don’t think he’s the cancer he’s being made out to be. I think the Jets are a completely dysfunctional team doing whatever A-Aron wants to do now while he throws teammates under the bus and they just fired their fired coach, etc..

The issue is how much could they afford and what would they have to give up?
It seems it would take a second rounder, no problem

The issue is he is owed 15 million a year approximately, probably not a problem as well but… He’s holding out because he wants an extension to get paid 25 mill plus per year. Can’t see how the Buccaneers could possibly swing that.

Plus, why would Arizona, Carolina, Philly, now the Jets, get rid of a guy who gets 11 to 16 sacks a year for the last 4-5 years?
Like I said, I don’t think he’s a cancer like they make it out but something’s going on

  103. JimBobBuc Says:

I’d like to see some more snaps from Ramirez and Watts to see if they can do something. Both guys are speed rushers, so different style than Yaya or JTS. I’m not sure if they can play in the NFL, but we need to get them some snaps to see. Look how Tucker blossomed against the Saints, so maybe these guys can step up?

  104. tucker Says:

I don’t think it would happen but Garrett with the bucs oh my geez yes please.

  105. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Good conversation generated…but it’s not going to happen.

  106. Kieran Says:

Please go after either Garrett or Hassan.
It’s just like going after Simeon Rice, that worked, it’s the same as getting JPP.
    Bite the bullet LFG!!!

  107. Simeon4HOF Says:

If I”m JL … Im trading whatever it takes to get a pass rusher to help win the Super Bowl this year

  108. BuccaDAWG Says:

MILES GARRETT yes please, if the Browns shop him for draft. Picks then I’ll pay for the call, JASON work your magic, Garrett seems to have. The proper Bucs Attitude & would fit in well.

  109. Oneilbuc Says:

I wouldn’t mind bringing him in for the right price!!

  110. adam from ny Says:

wow garrett to the bucs, over reddick to the bucs for sure…

    but seems near impossible…

and also you’ll need to approve that one with baker because if garrett was a hater in cleveland during the obj situation, don’t let him near the building…

keep the locker room on point
