Gerald McCoy: Bucs In The NFC Title Game Entirely Possible

October 1st, 2024

Bold prediction for Bucs.

Division in the most recent edition of the “Ira Kaufman Podcast.”

One of the Joe’s started talking about the Bucs in the Super Bowl. Ira and the second Joe pretty much said, “Slow down!”

An NFC title game appearance? That’s a different story. Hell, the Bucs came “this close” to an NFC championship game last year. With a better team, that’s not a crazy thought that the Bucs could get there.

You know who else thinks so? That would be former Bucs stud and current NFL Network personality Gerald McCoy. The former six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle appeared Monday as a co-host on “Speak for Yourself,” seen weekdays on FS1.

GMC advised viewers scoffing at the notion of the Bucs in the NFC title game to look around. The 49ers are dealing with a rash of injuries and no longer look as mighty. The Bucs already beat the Lions and Eagles, each still expected by many to win their divisions. And the Bucs already beat the hottest team in the NFC, the Commandos.

So GMC believes the Bucs playing in the NFC title game in January isn’t a crazy thought. And you know what, he’s right.

    I hope he’s right too.
    It’s a long season.

  2. NJbucs23 Says:

I predicted 11-6 and NFC title game. Let’s stay the course !

  3. Stevek Says:

Why stop there? Might as well feed Mike Evans, unleash Lavonte, and win two more games to go out on top.

We are a really good team, impressive drafted talent, and I’ll be damned that Baker looks like a top 8 QB. He’s in the top 25% of QBs on Sundays and that’s impressive. I hope he keeps the momentum and hangs 30 more on Thursday. Go Bucs.

  4. Beeej Says:

Imagine when our wounded come back

  5. LakelandBuc Says:

Winning the Super Bowl is possible

Someone has to win it….why not us?

  6. D-Rome Says:

It’s nice to not hear the stupid rhetoric of “wHo hAvE tHe BuCs bEaTen?”

It’s hard to win in the NFL no matter the opponent. None of the Bucs opponents so far have a losing record.

  7. KABucs Says:

It’s all about injuries. Our injury list keeps growing. If we can just go a few games with no new injuries and have some of these players we really need heal up, then we could be in pretty good shape but if this injury bug continues, I don’t see how any team can overcome it.

  8. Oneilbuc Says:

I believe we are going to the NFC Championship and that’s a susesful season to me . Go bucs!!

  9. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

One game at a time, Gerry. One game at a time.

  10. Jerseybuc Says:

Love McCoy!! Always riding with the Bucs! Always

  11. JimBobBuc Says:

The Bucs have a lot of young guys, so forget this playoff discussion and focus on playing our best every week and shut out the noise. We saw what happened against the Broncos. Let’s show the country that Cousins isn’t going to be the Falcons savior and the Bucs can’t be disrespected!

  12. Dave Pear Says:

Stay aggressive on both sides of the ball, and either replace Nellie on the right edge protection for PATs or remind him that sometimes the other team tries to block the kick.

  13. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Gerald is a great dude – let’s start there. But how many impactful plays do we remember him making? Not many at all, yet he is a 6 time probowler – and Lavonte has how many? Evans has how many?

    Gerald impactful plays – 3?
    Evans impactful plays – 1,000?
    Lavonte impactful plays – 10,000?

Gerald had a great burst and get-off, and did what with that?

The national love is misguided imo. But what do know?

@74 Bucs Fan: Knock it off.

    Ditto.

  16. Pewter Power Says:

It’s October 1st Geraldine. falcons, saints, ravens, falcons, chiefs and 49ers coming up. No one knows anything until after that 6 game stretch. Come out of that with a winning record hell yeah I’ll believe it.

  17. CleanHouse Says:

    I’m impressed so far!

  18. AMI_Chris Says:

As long as we stay relatively healthy, we should go into every game with a really good chance to win. There used to be years where the Lions game was the exception and the Broncos game was the rule. Not this year.

  19. Gipper Says:

Need Goedke back Thursday. If he doesn’t play, there might be a bigger problem with him than anyone is saying. Not sure why the NFL just doesn’t make Guardian helmets mandatory for all linemen? Will be shocked if Tua comes back and isn’t wearing one. Bucs compensated nicely without Goedke versus Eagles.
