Expect Bucs Evacuation To Be A Family Affair
October 7th, 2024So the Bucs are bolting town tomorrow to set up shop in New Orleans and prepare to face the slimy Saints on Sunday.
It will be more than a business trip.
The last two times the Bucs evacuated because of a hurricane, Team Glazer paid the bill to bring players’ and coaches’ families along for the necessary getaway. And Joe expects that to happen again.
So unless, the Bucs’ logistics team has unique solutions in mind, Joe is expecting more chaos where the Bucs land.
When the Bucs were in Miami prior to Hurricane Irma, Todd Bowles noted that he’s never seen so many dogs than he did at the team hotel. And Cameron Brate and Tristan Wirfs separately mentioned screaming kids at the hotel in a not-so-flattering light. Bowles also said game prep was an issue.
It’s all very understandable, but the Bucs also have an opportunity for the team to forge deeper bonds and perhaps focus more on football. Of course, many family members or players and coaches are likely to want no part of a six-day trip to New Orleans.
Lots of head coaches often say the best team bonding happens on road trips and extend training camp journeys out of town.

No excuses. Players, and their family’s have plenty of resources. Take your problems out on the Saints, they sure took it out on us last time we played. We were totally unprepared that day, better not be this time hurricane, or not.

Fortunately, the Saints have to play tonight against the Chiefs. They have a short week.

Good point Fred. It is a short week for the Taints. If im Dennis Allen, I’m not going to leave it all on the field tonight; I’m saving it for the game on Sunday. The game within the division against the Bucs.
Id rotate everyone including the punter, hell I might even sit some folks. Anything to be ready for Sunday. That’s the game that’ll matter if decisions are made.

Bucs and families are well-off. They are already prepping for Milton.

Classy move by the Glazers. All airports from Fort Myers to Tampa will be closed by tomorrow so it was smart to act quickly. Could you imagine the situation if Culverhouse still owned the team? Old Hugh allegedly charged the players for soft drinks and phone calls while the team was on the road… Man, 180 mph winds, this if really unimaginable. Hopefully tge wind shear comes to the rescue and no one runs into Jim Cantore while making last minute preparations.
