Dynamic, Dangerous And Second To Derrick Henry
October 14th, 2024Buckyball, as this Joe calls it, isn’t just a phenomenon that puts Bucs fans on the edges of their seats from Lakeland to Largo.
The success of Bucs rookie running back Bucky Irving is resonating around the NFL.
Look at the list of running backs leading the league in yards per carry. If you count the dudes with a minimum of 40 carries through Week 6, two men sit atop the league. There’s future Hall of Famer Derrick Henry at 5.9 yards per carry for the Ravens, and then there’s Irving at 5.7 yards per carry for the Bucs.
And what really strikes Joe about Irving is that every week he looks special.
Irving’s 31-yard run yesterday was a four-yard run at best for Rachaad White. Watch the video again below, Irving breaks five Saints tackles en route to racking up all 31 yards after contact. When’s the last time you saw a Bucs running back one step from the left sideline and end the play on the right sideline?
The special nature of what Irving is accomplishing is not lost on Joe. And Irving’s eye-popping run was shown on every highlight show in the country last night.
In his first NFL start yesterday, Irving notched 14 carries for 81 yards and a touchdown, and he caught both of his targets for a total of 24 yards.
Joe is so happy that Irving will get a chance to showcase his game on Monday Night Football next week when Henry and the Ravens come to Tampa.
Bucky Irving running angry 😡

Give him 20 carries a game
No more RB by committee
October 14th, 2024 at 7:09 am
White is now WR3. Tucker got his chance yesterday and now deserves carries in the game.
October 14th, 2024 at 7:10 am
Tuck and Buck Co sounds good to me itzok
October 14th, 2024 at 7:29 am
That entire run was amazing but I really love the stiff arm at the beginning and the Baker block at the end. LOL
October 14th, 2024 at 7:46 am
amazing run, he just needs to secure the ball more. He is dangerous
October 14th, 2024 at 7:52 am
Bucky proved he deserves to be #1. Tucker proved he deserves to be #2. Whites proved he deserves the bench.
October 14th, 2024 at 7:54 am
He and Tucker will be special this season. White should be 3rd down RB mainly… though Bucky and Tucker can do damage in the passing game too
October 14th, 2024 at 8:14 am
Been saying it for awhile. White is just a glorified 3rd down back.
October 14th, 2024 at 8:31 am
Trade White now
October 14th, 2024 at 8:32 am
I vote Bucky for the angry run scepter Mr Kyle Brandt! That was bad a**!!
October 14th, 2024 at 8:39 am
Everyone seems to be dumping on White, remember last year he gained almost 1000 yards from scrimage how about we wait until he’s dead before we throw dirt on his coffin. BTW if I remember correctly he was one of the first players to come out publicly to welcome Baker.
October 14th, 2024 at 8:43 am
The most important thing Bucky did for me yesterday was that he made me forget that seemingly distant past fumble. And now Tucker? White being pushed this hard will help his production. If he can get into the game. I can’t believe I said that. We’ve got a good football team fans. A very good football team.

Thank you, Vinny from NYC!! I am getting really sick and tired of the badmouthing of White on here. He’s a damned good football player and total team first team mate. Now, it’s Liam Coen’s turn. He’s got 3 good versatile runners: Bucky, White and Tucker. DO something creative with them!! Oh please football gods, let our OLine jell!! I’m not sweating the Special Teams either. Obviously they’re doing their jobs or MacLaughlin wouldn’t have all those points scored.
October 14th, 2024 at 9:06 am
Love the run… but did you se #6 coming down the field to make a block. Effing amazing, now do you guys see why the players love him as a QB? Dude wants to win and wants everyone on the team to succeed.
October 14th, 2024 at 9:09 am
Buck, and Tuck. As Capt Piccard would say, make it so.
October 14th, 2024 at 9:12 am
White is still important to this team as a pass catcher. And maybe someday, when there’s a hole big enough to drive a truck through, he’ll break one loose.
October 14th, 2024 at 9:17 am
Guaranteed that wins Angry Run for the week. The scepter returns to Tampa.
October 14th, 2024 at 9:29 am
Buck N Tuck should carry the load in the run game. White needs to be the 3rd down back which is a role he’d thrive in. Suddenly it looks like we got a good RB room. This offense will be dangerous if they can run even half as well as they did yesterday
October 14th, 2024 at 9:39 am
LC and his run schemes as well as the improved OL deserve partial credit for yesterday’s run success. Of course, BI7 and ST44 surely can break one open at any time! A nice situation for the RB room to be in! Great things are beginning to unfold! 😎
October 14th, 2024 at 9:53 am
The bottom line is: White isn’t better than Bucky or Tucker in any aspect of the game.
Not running the ball, not receiving and running after the catch, and not psss blocking either from what I can tell.
Bucky and Tucker each can do anything White can do and a whole lot more.
They deserve more playing time/touches. Period.
October 14th, 2024 at 10:09 am
Everyone is correct. White is a #3 running back, not the starter. He’s valuable in the passing situation, but Bucky and Tucker looked great also catching the ball and collecting YAC.
Bucky #1, Tucker #2… similar amount of carries (10-20 each depending on week).
White should carry MAXIMUM 3-5 a week. Some weeks NONE. Find a way to use his for quick screens, pitches, mis-direction plays… ANYTHING BESIDES PRIMARY RUNNER!!
He’s spent 2 years as the primary back, and this was the worst rushing attack in the league. It’s not gonna happen!

“And maybe someday, when there’s a hole big enough to drive a truck through, he’ll break one loose.”
He just had a 56 yard run the last game.
October 14th, 2024 at 10:24 am
nice problem to have, a committee of buck tuck and suck. haven’t given up on white though, and he should be studying the blueprint. if vision is learnable… ?
October 14th, 2024 at 11:13 am
I told you guys since the draft, “Watch Bucky.”
Joe, that run you featured was something I watched multiple times last year when he was with U. of Oregon. He’s something special.
October 14th, 2024 at 12:06 pm
We haven’t had a real pure runner since caddy…
Leonard was great but Brady used him as a drop down receiver primarily which obviously was the right choice.
I think white should start focusing on pass protection catching the ball and learning wr routes..we got 2 back that are seeing the holes and hitting them with intent.
White could be our utility man and wear many hats for the team..primarily the wr who goes across the middle
October 14th, 2024 at 12:33 pm
Yeah Tuck & Buck is the nickname. Tucker due to his size should be RB1 anyway.
October 14th, 2024 at 1:27 pm
I remember Joe ran a poll back in preseason that was something like needing to convert on run play who would you give the ball to.
Bucky won
White came in 2nd
Tucker came in 3rd.
I voted Tucker just because of his size. Would like to see Joe run that poll again after yesterday’s game.

Next 4 games are against team defenses Ranked 2, 26, 4, and 9.
Anyone want to guess which game he will have 100 if he starts?
I’d pump the brakes on putting him on a trajectory of an Emmitt Smith.
5.9 from a guy who has been doing it year after year and teams plan for and a 5.7 from a virtual nobody in the scheme of things in his rookie year are two different things altogether and Apples to Oranges.
20 carries for 40 yards against the Ravens and he’s down to 4.6 and middle of the pack just like that.
October 14th, 2024 at 3:29 pm
gotta enjoy victory monday, but this ravens team is really good…
they started slow, but are now steamrolling like a tsunami…
and henry too, also started slow, and is picking up steam and working into their system…
dangerous team coming in monday night…
and i haven’t even mentioned lamar
October 14th, 2024 at 3:59 pm
We need a new poll Joe.
October 14th, 2024 at 9:14 pm
What may not be noticed in that video is, Baker running 30 yards from the line of scrimmage to throw a block for Bucky. I’m impressed by the effort our Quarterback gives us in each game!
