Clapping For Baker Mayfield

“Tom, they forgot about you already.”
So the greatest tight end in Buccaneers history, Rob Gronkowski, was part of a rather laid back segment today in the FOX Sports studio.
Gronk is part of the FOX gameday crew every other week. He job-shares with Hall of Fame head coach Jimmy Johnson.
Today, the crew ran a “Don’t count me out” feature that highlighted Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, along with quarterbacks Sam Darnold, Justin Fields and Baker Mayfield.
Why Mayfield was there after making a Pro Bowl last season and winning a playoff game, Joe has no idea. But it certainly perfectly fits the narrative of the national media thinking Mayfield is still a fluke performer.
Kingsbury, the former Cardinals head coach, was a college assistant last year. Fields was struggling in Chicago and Darnold was a backup. Mayfield doesn’t fit into the picture.
Anyway, Gronk got animated, even clapping his hands, talking about how Mayfield is the clear franchise quarterback in Bucs players’ minds.
“The locker room loves him there. Hey, I played in Tampa. I know a lot of guys down there. They can’t say enough good things about him,” Gronk said.
Joe always likes hearing about the love and respect for Mayfield. If the Bucs hit hard times again this season, that’s something that should help bring them out of it.
A team that doesn’t believe wholeheartedly in its quarterback has little chance of winning anything meaningful. See the Bucs of 2018.

Detroit 3-1, Philadelphia 2-2;
Losses to Atlanta 3-1 and Denver 3-2. No losers in the bunch!
Also take a look at teams with lots of injuries; The Bills; the 49ers; the Eagles; the Rams; Miami, the Colts; All are struggling mightily! Injuries matter.

Gronkowski and his pals on the Bucs don’t know as much about Mayfield as RodMunch. Not sure why Fox doesn’t interview Munch to get the real story on Mayfield.

Agreeing with everything you said I would like to add one of the reasons for the crazy disappointment level is the “trashing” of Kirk Cousins the entire pre season and all the way to the game itself.
Yes he’s a BIT older, yes he’s coming off an achilles, and yes he has to get to know an entirely new team with a new coaching staff. BUT he can still fling the rock. He IS an established NFL QB. He HAS an overall WINNING record of 79-69-2 but if you subtract his time on Snyder’s crappy Washington teams where he had a losing 26-30-1,in Minn he was 50-37-1.
He’s never earned his bucks with his wheels. The Achilles may have taken those away but clearly he had no trouble planting enough to WING IT.
This entire pre season I feared all the “Cousins sucks” talk, as well as Rah is new, the Falcons don’t have enough talent would set us up for disappointment when the reality set in.
YES Cousins is overpaid. YES the Falcons IMHO were brain dead to spend all that money and then use a #1 pick on a QB. That MAY be true.
But it has nothing to do with the current Falcons on the field. They have talent, Rah is not a horrible coach, although I now dislike him after all the CHEAP shots. The face mask was a penalty but an accident. Hitting Baker literally with his foot six inches from coming down on the white, cheap shotting LVD’s knees and the late hits the were actually called, were just dirty.
Buckle up boys the Falcons aren’t going anywhere and Rah is going to inject some hate into the rivalry just as Payton did with the Saints.

It will take people a while to come around to the fact that he really isn’t a “loser” or
a middling QB or regressing because “some” people kept repeating it over and over again. Thinking they know football talent. Well the talent they called middling and barely average is #1 in TD’s, 3rd place in completion %, 3rd place passer rating, 5th place quarterback rating, 3rd in passing yards. If you take away the 7 sack debacle game he would be leading in those areas. Oh well, we all know who kept repeating it and I have a feeling as Baker keeps not regressing the court will be in session sooner than later, boys…

Mccoy still hates bakes. Oddly mccoy is not slamming Watson for having A lousy year. My take is Watson is retired in place with his guaranteed contract and massage parlor plans.

I love Gronk. But he’s struggling on TV.
Gronk is the missing piece for a serious Super Bowl run.
Offer him a contract to be the highest paid TE in the league.
Entice him out of retirement.
Gronk should chase a ring without Brady as his QB.
Let’s tell Gronk he has 1 month to get in shape.

Well let’s just shift ahead to the Slimy Bounty GATES. Derrick Carr Injured..throwing rainbow passes that almost took out the monitors hanging from the top of the dome and getting picked off while adding ignorance to his injury..YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT ..I think my Bucs are fine. I have a feeling that this week will be a STATEMENT WIN FROM THE BUCS… AND WE WIL SMASH THE FALCONS WHEN WE SE THEM IN A FEW WEEKS.. I HAVE A FEELING THEY ARE GONNA DO THE OPPISITE OF LAST YEAR AT THIS TIME.. FOLKS THE BUCS ARE A GOOD TEAM ..BAKER MAYFIELD IS A TOP 5 QB IN THE NFL ..Stats say but watch the games…HE is playing as good as or better than any QB in the league

We’re turning the corner this year folks .We are beating teams that usually beat us…and scoring at will …It’s a GREAT TIME TO BE A BUC FAN KNOWING WE HAVENT PUT OR BEST PRODUCT ON THE FIELD AS A WHOLE BUT WE STILL PIECE IT TOGETHER AND BEATING GOOD TEAMS… AND PEOPLE DOUBT BAKER….LET EM.
