Chris Godwin One Of Tom Brady’s Three Stars

October 16th, 2024

Earns a Tom Brady star.

Joe likes how former Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is influenced by the NHL.

For those unaware, the NHL selects three stars for each game. Joe guesses agents really love this. It’s been a tradition in the NHL for as long as Joe can remember.

So as part of his grueling schedule with FOX Sports, Brady, now FOX’s No. 1 NFL analyst, cuts a short video in which he names the three stars for each week of the NFL’s regular season.

This week? He gave his former clutch receiver Chris Godwin the second star. And, he sheepishly admitted that Liam Coen and the Bucs’ offense pulled off a feat in Lincoln’s Tomb that not even he was able to accomplish.

“My guy Chris down in Tampa, had himself a day against the Saints,” Brady said. “Breaking tackles. Running through defenders.

“The Bucs put up 50 in New Orleans — I never even did that.”

Godwin did have a strong day. But in terms of yards receiving, Godwin has had better, even as recently as last year at Green Bay when he had 155 yards receiving.

Since he was drafted in 2017, Godwin has had eight other games where he had at least 125 yards receiving. He had an incredible three-game stretch in 2019 where he pulled in 172 yards against the Rams, 125 again facing the slimy Saints and 151 battling the Stinking Panthers.

Boy, it’s great to have Godwin back both healthy and playing slot where he just crushes it.

Chris finally getting the accolades he deserves.

  2. Baker Bowl Says:

I feel like everyone but Bucs fans are surprised about Godwin’s play this year. Asked my friends (Broncos, Giants, Browns fans) if CG was the best WR2 in the league and they said by far. I think he’s been in that conversation almost every year he’s been healthy.

Particularly like that he burned the Saintsā€¦.The team that inflicted his injuryā€¦

THAT, more than Antonio Brown wigging out in New York, cost the Bucs a third ring.

Irrelevant comment but I’ve been on this site for a while now and still don’t know how to reply to comments like Joe does, is it a Joe only type situation?

  6. Dtownva Says:

    Agree, Joe.

  7. heyjude Says:

    Chris Godwin, another excellent Buc!

Kudos to Tom Brady for picking Chris this week. Brady is always humble too.

Sean Trucker is my star 1 2 3 whatever it is

    Let’s find out together.

Ha! It worked. You have to use the HTML “blockquote” option. Google it real quick as I can’t post it or it’ll actually convert the text to a block quote again.

    moment of truth

  12. Saskbucs Says:

Love Chris and glad to see him getting recognition. As far as comments that he is easily best #2 in the league, there would be a lot of push back on that from fans of other teams. I am obviously biased and would have agreed up until yesterday that is.

Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson gotta be the best 1-2 punch in the league now. Mike and Chris right behind.

you’re right, and I know my delusion told me he’s always at the top of that list, but it’s really nice to see him finally getting the respect we’ve known he deserves.

  14. Hodad Says:

Until Adams, and Garrett are the best one two punch, they are not. Let’s see them put up the numbers, and over a long period of time that what Godwin, and Evans have accomplished. Oh, and guess what one, two punch has a superbowl together? Compare that to Adams, and Garrett’s 0 for everything. Go lick the Jets cleets, this is a Buc site.

  15. Dave Pear Says:

    Love it! Nice!!!

Jason will work his magic and sign Chris up to be a Buc for life.

Now, gotta get Mikey healthy. He really looked in pain most of the game.

That is too complicated for me. I just use “copy” and “paste.

  18. orlbucfan Says:

Yeah, and our 1-2 punch has SB rings and one is definitely heading to Canton. Hey Joe, did POX/FOX make a typo? It’s CG14, not CG12.

Reading between the lines I’d say Tom is admitting Baker is a better QB than he was šŸ¤£

Chris is fixen to get PAID!

  21. captivajim Says:

Godwin is the best player at his position. Evans is a good receiver-but Godwin makes a lot of catches in some heavy traffic. Glad to see to getting recognition

I’m testing out the blockquote to say this is absolutely correct. We need to see results before crowing anyone, but on paper, Adams and Garrett are a mighty duo. I still would take ME13 and CG14 any day of the week.

  23. 1#bucsfan Says:

Is there a better slot receiver in the nfl right now ?

  24. StickinUp4Centers Says:

    Adams/Evans is a wash.

Garrett Wilson has never scored more than 3 TDs in a season. His best yardage season is Chris Godwin’s 2nd best yardage season. His highest number of receptions in a year is less than Chris’s.

    Chris > Garrett Wilson

Not that difficult. Just copy and paste.

Ok buddy, but your reply still doesn’t look as good as me and my boy Joseph’s

  27. stpetebucfan Says:

Tommy Boy just got his 5% share of the Raiders confirmed.

I do not get all the ramifications. Why was there any chatter about whether Davis gave Brady to big of a discount? Isn’t that their business?

Lots of talk about the limits Brady now has to work under as a Broadcaster.

I was never his biggest fan before he came to the Bucs, too much of a “perfect, plastic, pretty” boy for me. But he’s definitely the GOAT. And I feel a lot of compassion for him. Despite all the opportunities, Broadcasting, Ownership, WHATEVER he wants in terms of commercials and movies, but still it just seems like the end of his playing days have left a huge hole he can’t seem to fill.

Good luck Tommy Boy! Thanks for the SB!

  28. orlbucfan Says:

stpete, donā€™t waste your time feeling sorry for Brady. Heā€™s lived a 24K charmed life. Guess he hasnā€™t realized it yet. We should all be so lucky. BTW, you and I need to put our energy into rooting for our Bucs Monday Nite!

  30. stpetebucfan Says:

orlbucfan I hear ya Bro! I’m ready to scream at the screen.

And yeah it’s hard for me to feel sorry for any multimillionaire this week!!! The SAD stories all around me. We got our power back at 5PM last night, WOW was actually ahead of Duke so TV as well as AC and lights. The world is great again, after one day of crapping in a bucket, three days of boiling water, 5 days without power. WE WERE THE LUCKY ONES!.

I tried to get an extra day at the hotel we stayed for 3 days. I asked the Mgr if most of the people hadn’t come to get away from the Storm and she said, no many of them came because they’ve lost their homes!!! Talk about a major PERSPECTIVE swap!!

Went to a fight once and a hockey game broke out. We had hockey team in the bay area back inthe 70’s and I went to a game with my football coach and some teammates. Sun Coast Suns I believe. Lousy hockey great fight.

Still don’t get the attraction of hockey.

    Go Bucs!

  36. Alex Says:

Yea that 2021 saints game was the dirtiest game ever. these are the bountygate saints after all. that game was a revenge bountygate game for devin white taking out unintentionally jameis earlier that year. Mike Evans, CG and Lenny all got injured in the first quarter i think. CG out for the season. Looked like the saints corners were going low at the knees. Thats wen brady yelled a swear at the saints bench; he prob knew. Saints should change there name to Dirty Saints or Bountygate Saints

  37. CJBucsFan Says:

So funny with the block quote text thing or whatever guys. Good work!
