Calijah Kancey, Antoine Winfield Still Out; Bijan Robinson Has Hamstring Injury

October 1st, 2024

Still out.

Man, the Bucs have a long injury report today.

Sadly, that’s nothing new.

First, the good news (not that Joe wishes injury or pain upon anyone that doesn’t play for the Saints): Falcons stud running back Bijan Robinson has a hamstring injury and Joe sees Falcons fans freaking out on social media. Robinson was limited in practice today.

Mike Evans has a new calf injury to go with his lingering knee ailment. Joe was suspicious on Sunday. Evans was walking very slowly and gingerly out of the locker room that evening. Joe hoped it was nothing new or just a nasty rash. Apparently, it was the calf.

Luke Goedeke (concussion) was limited today. He hasn’t played since Week 1.

Trey Palmer (concussion) did not practice and neither did fellow receiver Jalen McMillan (hamstring). Don’t expect either to play Thursday. Same for linebacker SirVocea Dennis and his messed up shoulder.

Still not practicing his Antoine Winfield Jr. (foot) and defensive tackle Calijah Kancey (calf). Damn, if those guys couldn’t handle a glorified walk-through in t-shirts and shorts today, then Joe doesn’t know how they would get on the field Thursday in Atlanta.

The Bucs have many other guys on the injured list but they all played Sunday and Todd Bowles didn’t include any of them yesterday when he talked about fresh injuries.

    Sh*t

  2. A Bucs Fan Says:

SirVocea Dennis to IR and Antonio Grier Jr. was signed the the roster and Kalen Deloach is now on the PS!

  3. Dom Says:

Sit Goedeke, Kancey, and Winfield. Give them the mini bye week to get ready for the meat of the schedule these next 5 weeks going against the Saints, Ravens, Falcons, Chiefs and 49ers.

  4. Lightningvinny Says:

Would trading a second rounder to the Raiders for Adams be overkill in the WR room,,,, sounds nice though

  5. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Lighningvinny- that would be AMAZING, but I don’t think the Bucs have the cash for it.

  6. LakelandBuc Says:

Bigan Robinson has been playing like crap. Falcons fans been calling for his benching. They want to see more of Tyler Allgeier as their featured back. This injury report is very, very bad for the Bucs.

It’s hard for the body to heal itself on 3 day rest

  7. Hodad Says:

I’m pulling for Grier. He had a fumble recovery for a TD, tho called back, and a pick in preseason. I thought he should’ve made the team ahead of Dennis who was injured then also. Good luck kid.

  8. LakelandBuc Says:

    **Bijan

  9. catcard202 Says:

I still have no earthly idea why the NFLPA did not forced roster expansion to go along with the 17 game season. If the gameday roster was a reasonable # (60)…Teams would be in a much better situation depth wise & have bodies available to rest some players after getting dinged up.

I see no real reason rosters could not be expanded to 60 available to dress on gamedays. It would provide reasonable depth on all levels & not effect the gameday product negatively.

Game day roster limit of 46 came into effect in 2011…It’s now 2024 & there’s greater player safety concerns…Why not push the # up to really allow for player safety to be a focus???

  10. Rod Munch Says:

These guys need to toughen up with all this concussion crap. Guys got concussion all the time, and literally 99% of them are fine. This sissy crap of needing to take a month off work every time you get a headache is just ridiculous. Get in there and play, or go use your college degree and get that dream job as a bagboy at Publix and tell everyone how you made the right choice because your brain works, as you’re constantly stoned trying to forget how miserable your life is.

  11. PSL Bob Says:

When you see that injury report, you think we’re doomed. But we can’t use that as an excuse. Just about every team, if not every team, is dealing with injuries to key starters. It’s the NFL, although injuries this season seem to be a little more rampant. Hopefully, Evans will be able to play through it. Then the players will have a relatively long rest before they have to take on the Saints.

  12. Arin Says:

I really don’t understand how there is no information on Kancey this guy’s been out so long!!! Just put him out for the year! What is going on? How bad is a calf injury if you haven’t played in 3 months. Like wtf is going on. There is no info. Like go get surgery and move on. Every week he’s out. Like wow.

  13. unbelievable Says:

I assumed Winfield was gonna be out, since ankles are usually 4 weeks minimum, but was really hoping Kancey would finally be ready to roll. And same with Goedeke. If this concussion keeps him out much longer, I’m thinking his career might be done.

We better all hope and pray that Evans can go Thursday. Without him, I see our passing game taking a major step backwards due to how much attention he commands.

  14. Buc4evr Says:

Yeah give Grier a chance. The guy was a preseason warrior, let’s see what he can do when the real bullets fly. Dennis will likely go on IR. As far as Kancey, the guy is a China doll. Fragile. Probably another really bad signing. I don’t understand how these guys are constantly out of games, is it poor conditioning, poor strength coaches, unable to protect themselves? Just seems like the Bucs are the walking wounded every single season. The whole situation constantly sucks.

  15. heyjude Says:

Worried about Luke. Concussions can vary from person to person. Since he is limited he may still be having symptoms. Poor balance, dizziness, fatigue, and other problems could be more harmful if he played. Worried about Mike too. Hope the calf and knee are better soon.

  16. unbelievable Says:

@ Buc4evr – Kancey missed 3 games last year. The average games played per season for starting players is between 13.3 – 14.4, depending on the position. GMC also had bad injuries his first 2 years and then was mostly injury free the rest of his career.

It sucks, but chit happens. So I’m not going to claim he’s made of glass just yet (assuming he returns soon).

Also, the Bucs have been relatively healthy the past few seasons, which is why I said this summer that I had a feeling the injury bug was coming for us this year. And boy has it ever. Law of averages.

  17. catcard202 Says:

Rod Munch is the exact kind of guy that probably never played the game or ever put his life on the line under any circumstance.

Every NFL season, 13% (or more) of the leagues players suffer a concussion. (>200)…Over 91% of former players that donated to UNITE Brain Bank were posthumously diagnosed with CTE… ~35% of NFL retirees (playing careers between 1960-2020) show signs of CTE in there 40’s & 50’s…Google is a beautiful thing when it comes to doing common sense research!

Considering the avg NFL career is >4yrs…It’s in players best long term interest to protect themselves for the long haul… Especially when it comes to brain injuries…CTE is no joking matter & it sure isn’t a sign of weakness or being a sissy.

  18. Pelsbuc61 Says:

Porcelain doll Kancey might as well retire. He’s useless.

  19. BakerFan Says:

A bit too early to talk about regression, give it another 2 games. Everyone said that Baker was going to regress after signing a large contract. I didn’t, you still are going to see better years from Mayfield if the line can hold up.

Next I said no one was talking about Wirfs and Winfield regressing after their big contracts. I did and with 4 games played I will stand by that both have regressed. But the BakerHaters are all in line waiting for the collapse and won’t say a damn thing about the other 2 Players who got big pay days.

Bucs need all hands on deck and some of these guys need to start earning their paycheck.

Now tell me I am wrong, I expect it.

  20. Josh Says:

Seriously though the Kancey thing is starting to irritate me. Why wasn’t he put on ir for 4 weeks to use the roster spot especially if he still needs to sit this is ridiculous and if he’s hurt he’s hurt but to say he’s week to week for 5 weeks is ridiculous…

  21. Rod Munch Says:

catcard202 – what is the CTE rate among the general public? I mean since it’s such a huge issue with NFL players, you certainly have the data to back that up, right? The basic scientific method says you compare the rate of ex-NFL players vs the general public, and then you’d have an idea of if you should be concerned or not.

However, there’s NO DATA on the general public. You literally can’t talk about high rates of CTE when you don’t know what the base rate is.

But please, repeat some more talking points that you saw in that Will Smith movie as if they’re facts.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

    BakerFan Says:
Next I said no one was talking about Wirfs and Winfield regressing after their big contracts. I did and with 4 games played I will stand by that both have regressed.

Now if you want to talk about idiots with brain damage, just look at this jackball. Not CTE required.

  23. Joe in Michigan Says:

I don’t know if Rod Much is trying to be a d0uche tool (troll) or he’s just a miserable person. Either way, it’s not good.

Rod: What was your predictions of the games played, so far? Did you have them at 1-3? 2-2? They’re 3-1, you can’t be happy about that? Hahaha

  24. Joe in Michigan Says:

Grier ran a 4.57 40, of course that doesn’t mean he can cover anybody, look at Devin White.

  25. Rusty Shackleford Says:

What did Jake Camarda do to get in the dog house ? (Or was he injured ?)

    ……..

Piss off Rod, there is no way you can not look at end of year numbers and say they have not regressed. Not playing is a regression.

  27. Mike Johnson Says:

Not looking good for Thurs night in ATL. Rah will have his boyz fired up.

  28. DBS Says:

Did Kancey really play college ball? How? He can’t even get on a field to start a season. How much can we get for him? Find a real starter for next season not a possibility maybe could be.

  29. Bucschamp Says:

Raiders want to trade Davante for a 2nd round pick.

  30. Beeej Says:

You don’t see the results of multiple concussions NOW, you see it in 20-30 years. Scot Brantley could tell you, if his mind was still there

  31. stpetebucfan Says:

    Rod

You generally call people who disagree with your football opinions morons.

Just curious what you call people who disagree with your scientific opinions and absurd logic to back them up. But then DR. Rod we didn’t know you were a Neurologist.

So when you post actual football stuff you use things like the “All 22” stats, history etc. But when you post on science you just pull stuff from your nether regions without a single link or “other expert” to confirm your crap which is why your post stinks. So call me a moron, midget, old man is your favorite and I realize in addition to a lack of science you have a dramatic lack of creativity when it comes to insults. Perhaps you should just lose them.

  32. FortMyersDave Says:

Rusty, Camarda hit a punt which went something like 22 yards (net) in the waning moments of the Detroit game. That gave the Lions awesome field position down 4. I suspect it is what got him benched or at least got him under the microscope.

  33. stpetebucfan Says:

An honest question for the sentient remaining on this board. People who haven’t totally lost contact with their humanity.

These injuries are of course disappointing. The one to Kancey perhaps most of all because of how he flashed.

But SERIOUSLY. Call me the wuss or whatever insult Rod cares to come up with.

Am I the ONLY person here who can actually sympathize with Kancey? The ONLY person who can even IMAGINE how much mental anguish, pain, and disappointment he must feel at having his incredible promising career put on hold when his teammates have built a good team and something anyone would wish to be a contributing addition.

Yeah we are disappointed, but taking it out and the SINGLE MOST DISAPPOINTED human being in Tampa is actually cruel and unfeeling.

Oh noes trying to bring humanity to football. Just sayin’ and keepin it real!

  34. LakelandBuc Says:

The Tampa heat also has a role in players injuries

  35. Drunkinybor Says:

@Catcard It’s green. More players suited up on GameDay more cash owners have to pony up. Average fans don’t realize there is a limit. So nobody makes a big deal about. No fuss why would they voluntarily give up more cash when they are so greedy. I agree with you , 💯 percent.

  36. View from 132 Says:

Thanks to a 3-1 start, this is not a must-win game that it sure seemed like it would be after the Denver Debacle. The flip side is 4 extra days after the Thursday night game and its short flight home. I think the team will play a good game, but a loss is not as important as Week 6. Without all the off-season Falcons hype, this is just another Bucs-Falcons game.

  37. Rayjay1122 Says:

Kancey is the best player to have never played.

  38. Ramblin_Man Says:

Rod is a guy who has never been punched in the mouth for running it. He is nice and safe behind the keyboard and screen which is where he will stay.

  39. BucU Says:

    F Callijah Kancey. He’s a BUM.
What a pansy ass softy. I’m sure his teammates who are killing themselves in daily practices and wknd games have been talking behind closed doors on what a little sissy he is. He’ll be out of the league before his rookie contract is up. Wish they’d cut his sorry ass tonight. Completely useless as a pro football player. He needs a job at a Dairy Queen. He’d probably get fired for calling in sick too much.

  40. JustVisiting Says:

Rod, the largest study of which I’m aware found a CTE rate around 3% in a sample of 450 non-athletes. You might consider limiting your comments to topics you actually know something about. Just a thought.

  41. ModHairKen Says:

A lot of angry people in this string. I’m about to Rodney King y’all’s asses.

  42. Hearty Dikerson Says:

Serious question for the Joes – do you ask the team about Kancey and just not get an answer? Is anyone in the local press asking about him? Have you or anyone else spoken directly with him?

Why is there zero information on this guy?

  43. David Says:

They can get through this game with a win and then start getting a bunch of these guys back after a long break, look out.

Unfortunately, Denis Is out for at least four games I believe

  44. Josh Says:

^^^^^ this like what’s going on with Kancey? Why wasn’t he put on the IR? Is he going to be ready anytime soon?? Is there any new information at all on his injury?

  45. adam from ny Says:

    what if:

rod has a wee tad bit of CTE ?

maybe go easy on rod the rug muncher 🙂

  46. unbelievable Says:

LMAO at claiming Winfield has regressed because he got injured. Some of you are so dumb.

Wirfs I will agree looked very average weeks 1 – 3. I’ve talked about it a bunch. He looked pretty stout last Sunday though.

  47. adam from ny Says:

    dom:

    got some news for ya…

we’re in the meat of the schedule as of thursday night…

you listed the falcons, but you might as well list ’em twice

    ———-

also we’re so darn banged up…when does it get better…?

super chill to have a game in 48 hours, but it’s simply too darn soon, with not enough bounce back time for the players nursing injuries…

if we can somehow get the mother load of guys back for the saints game after the mini bye it’ll be a blessing…

also from a very realistic standpoint, we are playing division opponents, and tough division opponents…i think the goal here is to win 1 of the next 2…both as wins would be stellar…both as losses would be pretty rough…so yeah, a split for the next 2 games wouldn’t be a bad thing at all

  48. Kenton Smith Says:

Next Man Up !! We’re gonna be so much better this year and next having so many more players with game experience. These injuries are a blessing in disguise for a team like ours. I didn’t say every team. Now if we lose LD, Vita, or Mayfield for an extended time it could hurt our season goals. But we’re by no means sunk with the injuries we are dealing with. I would just like to know more about Winfield and Kancey because I think more is wrong with Winfield and his ankle than what we have heard. Because that dude is a game changer. And he needs to be in the game when we get to the playoffs.

  49. stpetebucfan Says:

    Adam from NY

    “what if:

LMAO that’s a great point. Although I must ask…doing my very best Rod Munch posting impersonation.

What makes you think Rod Munches carpet? Perhaps he likes pole beans?
How’s that for a typical Rod Munch insult. LMAO

Now for some FREAKING FACTS! Rod says: However, there’s NO DATA on the general public. You literally can’t talk about high rates of CTE when you don’t know what the base rate is.”

That’s because Rod is too damn dumb to know how to freaking GOOGLE!!!

“The fact that over 40% of young contact and collision sport athletes in the UNITE brain bank have CTE is remarkable, considering that studies of community brain banks show that fewer than 1% of the general population has CTE,” said Dr. Ann McKee, lead author on the study and director of the BU CTE Center.Aug 28, 2023″

Rod I’m sure you’re strong enough to “MAN UP” and simply say…wow I did not know and I was WRONG. But you’re the blog know it all who insults people who dare to disagree with you. And so I know you don’t have the cojones to simply say…I WAS WRONG! Go ahead Rod…man up…gather your courage…you can do it!

  50. stpetebucfan Says:

    BucU

“What a pansy ass softy. I’m sure his teammates who are killing themselves in daily practices and wknd games have been talking behind closed doors on what a little sissy he is.”

Wow what a MANLY MAN Bucu. That was truly impressive and badarse.

You know what. I’d simply love to see you tell Calijah Kancey to his face that he is a pansy ass softy. I’m sure he’d wilt like a “pansey” in front of such ferocious keyboard strokes! Truly tough!!!

I’d also love to see you walk into the locker room for this blog and interview the players and tell us how many feel as you post they do.

  51. Deadwood South Dakota Says:

Kancey is turning into a bust. Potential we will never see.

  52. orlbucfan Says:

Hey Rod, I hope you realize NFL football is the equivalent to skilled war games in tights. Concussions come with the territory but they are head/brain injuries. Look what happened to Junior Seau. He’s not the only one. I sure hope Kancey heals up and ME13 rests. I hope Bucs pull this win off night after tomorrow. It’s gonna be a dawg fight.

    ,…..

How can you not say regression when he is not playing. In fact those predicting regression on Mayfield was because he was going to be injured. Can’t have it both ways. Winfield season numbers will be lower because he is not on the field. Any one being honest would call that regression

  55. Defense Rules Says:

Unbelievable … ‘We better all hope and pray that Evans can go Thursday. Without him, I see our passing game taking a major step backwards due to how much attention he commands.’

Tend to think that Evans will be out there, just not getting as many snaps as he has been. Godwin’s still healthy (although a bit banged up) and so is Shepard, but it looks like Palmer & McMillan may both be out (haven’t practiced due to injuries). Plus we’ve still got Otton & Durham, as well as Rachaad & Bucky. That’s still quite a few weapons even if we’re missing several guys. And oh ya, everyone was raving about Kam Johnson in preseason; would love to see him step up.

Noticed how Coen got Otton more involved in the offense last week: 9 targets (6 catches). Godwin got the same (9 targets, 6 catches). Shepard also picked up 5 targets (3 catches). Our 3 RBs were targeted 6 times also, with 4 catches. Right there that’s 29 targets with 19 receptions … as many as we had in games 1 & 2 when we were going 50% run, 50% pass (games we won BTW). We’ve got enough weapons still remaining to win this ball game even if Evans, Palmer & McMillan can’t go.

  56. unbelievable Says:

@DR – plenty of targets for sure. But you know the type of attention that Evans commands. It’s so much harder on defenses with him and Chris out there, plus all the other targets you mentioned. So even if he’s not being targeted a ton, his presence alone makes defenses more honest. That was my main point. Agree with you we have plenty of options, and I loved how much we spread the ball around last Sunday.

@BakerFan – people who were predicting a regression for Mayfield were basing that on his history. It had nothing to do with an injury. Being injured isn’t a regression. Winfield looked fantastic week 1.

  57. Buc4evr Says:

Hope the Bucs are looking around for another Vet DL…

  58. Winny Testaverde Says:

Huffy Hot Rod Mulch has arrived! Having played ( at most ) co-ed soccer in high school, dudes with bruised melons ( who are required to sit out…not optional ) are suddenly sissies? Got it. He did log into an Eagles chat room and claims to have watched the coach’s all 22 tape though…sounds legit.

  59. Buccos Says:

The thing about Kancey is that he was hurt on a Friday walk-through. How do you get that badly hurt in a walk-through.

  60. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Bakerfan

Are you high? How do you regress if you’re out due to injury?

His stats may be different, but no way to say his play has regressed.

    Weird take…

  61. Steve Says:

Remember, Kancy hurt his Calf early in training camp last year and then tried to play game one and was out for another three or four weeks. So he was technically out for 2 months last year with this same injury.

  62. Capt.Tim Says:

They day we drafted Kancey, I posted right here
“Kancey is 5’10, 280 pounds. He’s too small. He’s gonna be hurt all the time,
. Developing Chronic injuries over time”

Everyone angrily said I was wrong. That I just needed to look at that great DT for the Rams- who wasn’t much bigger.

Calijah Kancey isn’t him. He’s too small. You can’t fix that.
I feel bad for the kid.

  63. Capt.Tim Says:

The great Aaron Donald was the name that eluded me.

Calijah Kancey isnt Aaron Donald. Donald was a unique talent.
Kancey is just a lil fella getting bullied

  64. unbelievable Says:

Kancey will be back by the Saints game at the latest, and then all you chicken little can start crying about someone else.

  65. A Bucs Fan Says:

Captain Tim Kancey is the same exact size as John Randle and Aaron Donald. In fact John Randle was 245 lbs when he got into the league and Aaron often played at 265. The only difference is Cancey’s arm length that he compensates with his explosion and technique off the ball.

Not saying he’ll be them but his size is of no consequence.

Also he’s not being bullied. He’s had two soft tissue injuries that were non-contact injuries. Working out in the relentless Florida heat caused this more than anything due to how dehydration and explosive movements stress the muscle.

Meaning if he’s in Detroit, GB, or Pittsburgh or any moderate climate I don’t think he gets either of those injuries.

  66. BucU Says:

You know what. I’d simply love to see you tell Calijah Kancey to his face that he is a pansy ass softy. I’m sure he’d wilt like a “pansey” in front of such ferocious keyboard strokes! Truly tough!!!
    ***************************************************************
@StPeteFan – Also known as Calijah Kancey’s mom. Hey mom? Don’t blame me for your son being a little bit@h who can’t go to the mailbox without pulling a muscle. LOLOLOL.

“””Also he’s not being bullied. He’s had two soft tissue injuries that were non-contact injuries. Working out in the relentless Florida heat caused this more than anything due to how dehydration and explosive movements stress the muscle.”””

STOP STOP STOP with the Kancey excuses!!!!! Has 34 yr old Lavonte David been sitting on his a$$ for a month and a half from the “relentless” Fl heat? How about Will Gholston who’s over a decade older than the glass tiger too? I haven’t seen him miss a third of the season and counting. Some guys just can’t cut it in the NFL. Happens all the time. It just sucks for us that we had to find out the hard way that our 1st rd pick from 2 yrs ago is about as fragile as StPeteBucsfan. Bottom line is Kancey is a bum. He’s just another Russell Gage Jr.

  68. #99 the big fella Says:

Easy on Rod guys, He played pee wee football and was cut.. He is pissed off at the world ever since. He always finds a reason to beetch. I bet he has a get off my lawn sign in his front yard.. Rod is a expert at everything just ask him.

  69. BucU Says:

“””Kancey will be back by the Saints game at the latest, and then all you chicken little can start crying about someone else”””

I would LOVE to start crying about someone else. I’m sick of hearing that Kancey is making progress and he’s day to day. Game after game after game we hear that shyt. IF he does come back for the Saint’s game should we expect him to be a difference maker or is it more likely that he’ll be on a pitch count for a few games to get his fat a$$ back in shape. We need guys that don’t get hurt and sit out for a huge chunk of a season when they get a boo boo on their shin.

  70. A Bucs Fan Says:

Does LVD rush from a 3 point stance? No. Does Gholston have the same explosive get-off? No.

    Not comparable players.

You consistently demonstrate a lack of maturity in your personal attacks of a person who doesn’t even know who you are. At this point, you’d rather Kancey’s career be sunk and he cut from the team rather than let him heal from what’s been described as a freak injury and produce when he returns. You must be a child because only a child would want to be right so bad no matter the consequences of it. Your attitude is the only thing that needs to stop here.

  71. stpetebucfan Says:

    A Bucs Fan

Thank for stating the truth so much more eloquently than me! I sometimes, too often, allow my Irish temper to creep in and lower to the level of the Rods of the world. Mea Culpa.

“You must be a child because only a child would want to be right so bad no matter the consequences of it.”

BINGO!!! I remember getting chided as a child by my mother who used to say, “You’d rather be right than President!” So I get the allure the addiction to being right. I’m glad we have enough mature guys here to keep me and the other kids under control. Keep leaning on us with mature logic. Well done!

  72. DBS Says:

I don’t want to hear the excuse. Or “where he plays”. He has had the off season now missed all training camp, preseason and first 4 games. We were given the hype and he can’t get on the field again. If you want to settle for players that get paid to sit on the sidelines fine. I want to see them play as they were hired to do.And help this team win games.

  73. stpetebucfan Says:

    DBS

Do you think Gerald McCoy or for that matter Vita Vea are busts?

They both missed MANY games at the start of their careers.

  74. DBS Says:

Quit with the excuses. They both got ON the field to begin with. This guy can’t. Then once he does it’s right back to the same thing. Vea’s last injury was a freak injury caused on the field in a game don’t even try that. This guy needs to get on a field to even start a season like both of those two players.

  75. DBS Says:

And by the way . Eva is BACK on the field!

  76. DBS Says:

I don’t know all about that “Floduh-HEAT” argument for Kancey… Didn’t he workout on the beach in MIAMI all off-season, with all these hardcore ‘CrossFit-Juditzu’ style workouts, & never had the first issue until right before the season started!? It’s all I heard about all spring and summer. And, I never expected to get “Junior” back until possibly, after the Bye-Week. If it’s a “High-Ankle,” they take FOREVER to completely heal, & the ONLY way is to SIT and rest/allow it to heal. I think as long as they’re ‘winning’ they’ll give him the time he needs to get back at FULL-strength… Otherwise, it’s going to nag him all year, throughout the rest of the entire season. Now, if they drop both of these next two games, THEN there will be a lot more urgency with him. I just wonder if Wirfs is playing hurt!? Kancey, WHO KNOWS… I think it’s long past time, that we start getting some answers on him. In my life experience, anyone who uses the term “arse” is a straight-up douche.

Stop! Dude was born and raised in Miami. All but four years of his life he’s lived in Florida.

That’s like saying Lavonte David couldn’t play football in Tampa because he’s not used to the Florida heat. smh

  79. Booger Says:

I agree with YOU, Joe! That’s what I was saying in response to the others trying to say so, by saying that, “I Don’t Know About All That,” as in I’m NOT buying that argument. I think it’s a ridiculous statement and observation. Like Hell, he was working-out HARDCORE in MIAMI!?

  80. A Bucs Fan Says:

@Joe – you’re misunderstanding the point. Extreme temperature in either direction impacts soft tissue health. The claim I made is not about Kancey’s heat tolerance as an individual. Cold is bad too for different reasons. However, the Florida heat causes what? Dehydration, reduced blood flow, and inflammation. Combine that with an intense volume of explosive movements you’re more likely to get a soft-tissue injury because heat breaks down the muscle faster than cooler temperatures. Because these injuries were non-contact Kancey needs to adjust his routine. Just like Mike Evans had to with his hamstring problems his first few seasons. Just like Vita with his calf when he first got to Tampa. Kancey’s got to find the balance that works for his body.

It’s not a matter of heat tolerance. It’s a matter of physiology.

  81. Booger Says:

I would ‘buy’ some of that, with some other particular players, but NOT with Kancey. Not someone who has been here his entire life, & hearing all about these already ‘legendary’ workouts on the beach in MIAMI. It makes me assume that HE is taking all of that very seriously, with HIS body, Etc. That’s why I believe it’s time we get some answers on him and this particular injury. And, why they didn’t place him on the IR to begin with, Etc.? Has he had a setback… Is he not making any progress… Has he had ANOTHER injury added to this one… Is he doing anything at ALL… Is he just made of glass… Are the Bucs EVEN happy with his progress… With HIM, in general… Are they confident… Are they NOT… Is he confident and positive… Is HE frustrated… Are the Bucs frustrated… Just What The HELL Is Going On!? And, when do they THINK he can return… WILL HE!?

Rod, the largest study of which I’m aware found a CTE rate around 3% in a sample of 450 non-athletes.

    ———–

Where are you getting this information, what is the source for that? All information I can find says there are ZERO studies of any notable size of the general public when it comes to CTE.

Which is the entire issue with CTE, we have no way of knowing if it’s a problem if we don’t even know what the CTE is with various groups.

Additionally, what we do know is that nearly ALL former NFL players are not vegetables, and things like suicide rate among former players is LOWER than that of your average mid-life crisis aged men.

Anyways, if you have the info above let me know and I’ll check it out.
