Bucs Head To New Orleans Early

The Bucs are bugging out.
With Hurricane Milton (now a Cat-4 storm) barreling toward Tampa Bay, which may be the sum of all fears for an area that hasn’t been blasted directly by a major hurricane for over 100 years, the Bucs aren’t taking any chances.

Football operations at One Buc Palace will be moving to New Orleans on Tuesday. All practices and football-related activities will be done from the Big Easy as the Bucs are expected to play the slimy Saints Sunday.
Big game for both teams. If the Bucs win, they still remain tied atop the NFC South. If the Bucs lose, they could be two games behind in the race to four-peat as NFC South champions.
The sad part is aside from the obvious with so many, many people in harm’s way, after the Thursday night debacle in Atlanta, Joe is left both burned and cynical (more so than usual).
This storm tells Joe the Bucs have a built-in excuse(s) for losing. Joe can just hear it now if the Bucs lose.
“Well, we were distracted. Well, we had our routine messed up. Well, we had to fly out on Tuesday rather than Saturday. Well, too many players sucked down too much bad seafood at the Acme Oyster House.”
The only excuse Joe wants to hear after Sunday’s game is why the Bucs didn’t beat the slimy Saints by 30 and instead decided to let them have a field goal to ruin a shutout.
Adapt, adjust, overcome. Let’s all heed those words in the coming days. Stay safe!

I’m not 100 and I have been in two hurricanes in Tampa when the eyes came through. I wish I could remember their names. I think one was Donna. Carrollwood was mostly mobile homes, and some of them got messed up. Other than that, it was waterskiing up Bayshore Blvd.

Bucs haven’t released that information (yet).
Joe is going to guess Tulane only because Avi Glazer (co-owner of the Bucs) and his wife are major donors for both the school and the football facilities at Tulane. His wife graduated from Tulane.
Glazer’s wife was also on the board of trustees at Tulane.
(In other words, Tulane has a financial incentive to help out the Glazers. 🙂 )

Sucking down seafood? Maybe by the time the game is played half the players houses will be inhabitable due to flooding. And the other half are going to have stories of not talking to family members because the power has been out and the cell towers are destroyed. There is a % of your readers that aren’t going to be active on here for a couple days. And many won’t be able to even watch the game.

That might be kind of hair. But seem to recall the year the Bucs lost their bye week due to a storm, Dirk Koetter brought his family to ride the storm out at One Buc Palace (which is supposed to be cane-proof). He said it was just fine.

I respect those who thought of the players families and friends left behind.
I too wish them well but I can’t get too worried for them. The Bucs are a class organization they will take care of their own. The team does not want distracted worried players. And the players are all millionaires who can easily fend for themselves with this much advance warning. It’s people like our cleaning lady who live in Mobile homes. 10% of Pinellas County lives in mobile homes and many of them do not have money to simply evacuate. IF Milton hits to the north of us and sends the dreaded storm surge into the bay these people will be devastated. I hold them in my prayers and thoughts.
Cricket I’ve only been here about 25 years and remember Charley as the last truly scary threat. Luckily it turned right at the last minute. If Milton does the same then you’ll get the same as Donna, which btw was from a time long ago before climate change turned to the Gulf into a overheated caldron which provides the energy to this storm.
IF Milton hits north of us it will be truly ugly. I served on the St. Pete Planning Commission for a half dozen years in the last decade. I remember the ‘doomsday” presentation from City staff if a Cat 5 roared right up Tampa Bay.
It’s beyond ugly! The SURGE will literally rearrange part of St. Pete. Shore Acres, Venetian Isles have spots that were built on landfill and will wash away in a CAT 5 storm surge. It was explained to us that the afterwards it will be a HUGE mess just trying to redefine homeowners property lines.
Bottom line right now I’m far more worried about Milton than the Saints.

I just want to put football aside for the moment and offer my prayers for all of the people whose lives will be impacted by Milton. Sincerely pray that the number those who suffer loss of life and property will be held to a minimum.

Last game we played against the Saints they whipped us pretty good. I think we had extra time to prepare for that game too? Didn’t matter. Saints play tonight, that can only help us? The players family’s have money, and resources, they won’t be riding out the storm in some shelter. No excuses Bucs.

Bucs will win this one just like they did Philly after Helene. They know they owe the weather beat up area a moral boost. Players are well-off. Their families will be protected. I just hope the stadium and practice areas aren’t totally ruined by surge. They almost butt up against Tampa Bay.

To “orlbucfan” the stadium nor OneBuc are particularly close to Tampa Bay. If RayJay got impacted by storm surge we’ve got way bigger problems. They usually station the National Guard there during these storms.

No other team is going to want to give up their rights to secondary markets so short of someone buying off Jerry Jones, San Antonio/Austin is off the market. — Joe], Tampa is going to be removed and the venue will be disabled. You guys think these hurricanes are a joke. I appreciate your patriotic freedom of my post, the NFL Has two cities that can host a Super Bowl, San Antonio and San Diego, and London has bee mentioned as well. London can hold two teams at their venue, if something happens to South Florida, they could host the Dolphins as well.
