Antoine Winfield Is Expected To Play

Exciting day for Bucs fans as arguably their best defensive player (certainly the highest paid) returns to the lineup along with another defensive stud.
Joe is fired up for a dominant Bucs victory.
That’s right. If the Bucs are any good, they’ll punish the crumbling Saints, losers of three in a row, and embarrass rookie New Orleans quarterback Spencer Rattler as he makes his first career start.
And Rattler will have to contend with Bucs All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. NFL Network reported the news this morning that Winfield will make his return from a foot/ankle injury in Week 1.
Throw in stud defensive tackle Calijah Kancey making his season debut after a calf issue and the Bucs defense will be adding a lot of juice.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network also reported this morning that starting safety Jordan Whitehead is good to go, as well. He had a mild groin injury last week.
Throw in Luke Goedeke returning at right tackle and Joe is throwing an early-morning party.

If I remember correctly Winfield was hurt on kickoff return duty? I think the Bucs were anticipating an onside kick. If true – just a dumb move, as his weeks on the injury report attest too.

Bowles should be aggressive all game. Play tight coverage and force Rattler to make perfect throws. If the Bucs give up big plays don’t panic and go to soft zone, doing that guarantees the Bucs a lose.

I will believe in Buster Kancey when, or really if, he can make a play. Until then he is just stealing money from the Bucs. How many plays until he gets hurt again?

Winfield could be the difference maker in stopping the Saints running game. Making the Saints one dementia will make Rattler’s debut a disruptive introduction to the NFL.
