Yes, Tom Brady Keeps Up With The Bucs

September 28th, 2024

Tom Brady is back in town.

Joe hadn’t done anything on this because Joe wasn’t going to be overly interested until Tom Brady showed up at The Licht House on Sunday.

Oh, Joe supposes Team Glazer could have thrown something together on very short notice and decided to retire Tom Brady’s No. 12 on Sunday since Brady will be broadcasting the game on FOX alongside play-by-play man Kevin Burkhardt.

This wasn’t finalized until early in the week.

Since Brady is in the midst of becoming a minority owner of the Raiders, he is prohibited by the NFL from going to Bucs (or any team’s) practice, or going to One Buc Palace or attending production meetings with Todd Bowles, Liam Coen, Baker Mayfield and whatever defensive player may be chosen.

To Joe, this is common sense. Why give access to team meetings and closed team practices to another team’s likely part-owner? As Joe stated, if Joe were Clark Hunt, the only way in hell Joe would let Brady anywhere near Chiefs headquarters or practices is if he was dating Gracie.

After Brady retired, Joe wondered if Brady gave a damn about the Bucs. You rarely heard of him hitting up any former Bucs teammates (not named “foot-rubbing Rob Gronkowski”) and just as rarely did Brady ever speak about the Bucs or reference them on social media.

During Brady’s famed Netflix roast, outside of a handful of ex-Bucs teammates attending that he invited (including Lavonte David, Ryan Jensen, Breshad Perriman and Donovan Smith), it was as if his three Bucs years never happened.

This year, the only time Joe heard Brady mention the Bucs publicly was when he gave Baker Mayfield props for having a stellar game against the Commandos and ranked the Bucs as the NFL’s third-best team after beating the Lions. But apparently Brady does monitor the goings-on of the Bucs, as Todd Bowles explained yesterday.

“He texted me after the playoff game, after we won,” Bowles said. “Tell him I said hi. That’s about it [laughs].”

Joe is glad to see Brady is keeping in touch with Bowles and apparently does have interest in his old team.

As for Brady calling Sunday’s Bucs game, Joe will be quite interested to hear if Brady tells any stories of the glorious 2020 season.

How cool would it be if he said Antonio Brown owes him back rent or has a nasty habit of not flushing the toilet.

Joe. Tom doesn’t care for the Bucs
Sorry. His hubris gets in his way now.
It made him great. No doubt.

  2. adam from ny Says:

tommy b’s a megalomaniac…he totally keeps up on the bucs and the “post brady” era – as it’s does have an indirect reflection on him and his stint spent in tampa…tom sees all

Tom has always seemed like a humble, all about football, and reserved guy. He is probably still in contact with Evans and others. It will be entertaining having him as our announcer on Sunday. Guessing, he may share some stories. Hope so. He and his ex wife opened their doors to AB. I think Tom guided him as best he could. He tried to help him. That says so much too. Don’t think he will talk about that though.

  4. Irish Laughter Says:

Blah, Blah, Blah! Creating a false narrative and then pushing it on your readers has become all to troubling when it comes to Brady. I know you are trying to create content that is somewhat controversial, but in the end, who does it really hurt? Your credibility. Believe what you want Joe, but you should give it up and move on from Brady. We are more interested in current events. This is boring.
    Keeping it real in Ireland.

  5. BA’s Red Pen Says:

AB doesn’t flush because he is a POS and is afraid he’ll end up with the rest of the stuff in the sewers.

  6. Hodad Says:

I don’t give a flip about the past. The last thing I want to hear Brady talk about is his time as a Buc. I was there, I saw it. I want to hear what he says about this Buc team. I want to hear what he thinks about these current Buc players, and coaches, and what they are doing good, or bad. Maybe how he’d go about fixing our O line giving up 13 sacks in 3 games. Tom gave us a SB, now I want him to give us his insight on what he sees on the field today, not 2021.

    @Irish Laughter

100%, and it’s driven by insecure Baker fans that only compare Baker to 2022 Brady. People need to just move on and just be happy for the great years between 2020-2021. No need to hold any grudges or bitterness towards the guy that helped turn this franchise around

  8. Larrd Says:

    But who’s counting, anyway! LOL

  9. Marky Mark Says:

The raiders just got toasted by 36 year old Dalton. Birmingham city is in the third division but in a promotion spot with the other American owners of Wrexham. So far Lebron is a much better investor with Liverpool.

  10. orlbucfan Says:

Methuselah12 did not give us our 2nd SB. The entire Bucs team did. All they needed was a competent QB cos Winston was a turnover machine and a BUST. The rest of the SB team was in place. Bucs should win this one. If they can beat Campbell’s Lions, they can beat any team. Payton put a hoodoo on them last week. I will be checking out the Broncos final score tomorrow. Just curious.

  11. Crickett Baker Says:

Well, I think history is almost as important as current events. To me, it is very exciting that Tom will be a commentator for a Bucs game (a current event). Undamnfortunately, they won’t televise it in AR and I will have Deckerhoff. My first game to watch this year is the Thursday night on Amazon.

  12. Bantry Says:

Crickett Baker, understandably cannot post outside links, but if you try searching nfl-video you might find something useful.

  13. Oneilbuc Says:

Tom Brady has shown every bucs fan he doesn’t care about the bucs the way y’all care about him. He showed it in 2022 and he’s showed it all last year and this year when anyone asked him about the bucs when he’s been interviewed. Stop begging and kissing his behind and move on. Baker Mayfield is the quarterback now and I’m not the biggest fan of Baker Mayfield but I’m behind 💯 percent because he’s the bucs staring quarterback right now. I’m rooting for Baker and hope he plays good enough so we don’t have to draft another quarterback for at least the next 3 or 4 years.

  14. unbelievable Says:

The so-called fans who hate Brady because he apparently doesn’t talk about the Bucs enough are so dang funny to me.

He loved his time here in 2020 and 2021. 2022 was a weird year in a lot of ways, for Tom personally, and for our team. We lost more than half our offensive line, along with our only worthwhile tight end, which made the offense a shell of itself. Combine that with a 45 year old QB going through a cheating wife / divorce, and yeah, we were a mess.

Every time he does talk about the Bucs, or former teammates, it’s been nothing but love.

A lot of you are just haters. Same as it ever was. LOL @ thinking Brady wasn’t a HUGE part of that Super Bowl team. Without him, Gronk doesn’t come here. AB doesn’t come here. Lombardi Lenny doesn’t come here. And without him, we would have never had winning culture restored here. Claiming “all we needed is a competent QB to win the SB” is absolute horse dung.

  15. Oneilbuc Says:

Unbelievable. You just a Brady fan bro I’m a bucs fan Brady haven’t said anything about the bucs since he retired and I’m ok with that because he’s a Patriot. Brady showed how much he cared when he went to a wedding party the day before the game or how about not flying with the team before the game or even after the team lost. Look if you one of those guys that believe the only reason why we won the Superbowl was because of Brady then I know you are delusional and didn’t watch the full games. You probably only watch when Brady was on the field then you cut your TV off.

  16. Oneilbuc Says:

Unbelievable. And stop calling people haters people don’t have to ride Brady jock strap like a lot people do . Every one knows that Brady is a Hall of Famer and even though him and his coach got caught cheating . No one hate people that they don’t know personally. Move on!!

  17. Rod Munch Says:

Why would Brady want to have anything to do Bowles? Todd was handed a team that was supposed to go to the SB, was literally the NFC favorites, and instead Todd got Brady his first loses ever to the Falcons and Cowboys, and a losing record.

Arians retiring AFTER Brady resigned was a dirty move, there’s no way Brady comes back if he knew Bowles is running things.

Then on top of Bowles, they stuck Brady with that low-IQ idiot Leftwich, who decided to take Arians playbook, throw-out 90% of it, then just run the same plays over and over again in the same order.

Brady came here to win a ring, and he and the Bucs did. He doesn’t owe anything to anyone. The team and the area should be forever grateful, because before Brady came to town… well just remember what Gronk said when Brady called him and said he was going to Tampa, Rob responded, “oh yeah, I kind of forgot they had a team.”
