YaYa Diaby: Bucs Have To Play With Confidence
September 15th, 2024It seems Lavonte David is rubbing off on YaYa Diaby.
The Bucs’ second-year outside linebacker took a page from David in discussing with Joe the challenges of playing the Lions, one of the best teams in the league and a team that botched its chance in the NFC title game.
Most people, including Bill Belicheat, believe the way to beat the Lions is putting Jared Goff’s arse on the ground.
Not so, said Diaby last week. He told Joe that to stop the Lions, you first must stop the run.
“They rely on their run so for us to get some matchup opportunities, definitely have to take care of the run first,” Diaby said, adding that presents “huge challenges.”
But what about Goff? What about what Belicheat said?
Diaby explained the Bucs have to worry as much about themselves as they do Detroit.
“I respect them as a team,” Diaby said. “Still, at the end of the day, it’s still just another challenge for us.
“We have to go in there with a mindset that we are as good as anybody.”
Mindset.
How David of Diaby. Lavonte David often talks about mindset. Diaby must be picking up on that. Diaby, and Joe guesses, David too, believe if the Bucs act like they’re the lesser team, then Detroit already has poisoned their minds.
Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, who has a sack and a forced fumble in each of his last two regular season games, said the Bucs better bring their big boy pants to Detroit.
“Oh, it’s going to be a dogfight,” JTS said. “They are well-coached. They want to win in a certain fashion. There is a tone that we have to set in this kind of a game.
“It’s going to be a really fun challenge.”

It’s a next man up league that being said I wish we had aw31 kc94 lk67 playing. These guys are ballers and we need all hands on deck for a physical team like the lions. Our offense is going to have to put up more points than last week. I know they can just a matter of doing it

JTS Says:
“There is a tone that we have to set in this kind of a game.”
Agreed. Bucs are going to have to play tough and physical football if they hope to win in Detroit. Engaging a team like the Lions in trench warfare – without Kancey and offensive ‘tone setter’ Goedeke – seems like a tall order…

We heard how good YaYa was in camp, till he got injured. He put a lot of pressure on the QB last week, but no sacks. We need him to be a game changer this week. We need him to get more then pressure we needs sacks. Strip sacks would be better. Forget about playing with confidence, we need sacks, game changing plays. Joe has been pining for a feared edge rusher. YaYa is either that guy, or he isn’t. Time to prove it. If people are talking about how Diaby wrecked the game instead of Hutchenson, we win. Just do it already, and stop talking about it.

@Hodad, don’t put the cart before the horse. To get sacks, the players have to have confidence. Common sense. Yaya, I’ll be listening for your name, SVD and JTS, too. No reason why all three of you can’t mimic (future HOF) LVD today.

I think a bug from Sir Dennis helps the most. His confidence should be up after last week. Covering Laporta and others over the middle will help us win. If they can’t operate over the middle, they are as beatable as anyone.

We got this!! Be that man. Put the Lions back in the cage LFG BUCS!!!

The Bucs with Tom Brady had the attitude and physicality which shut down the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
The Bucs need that same mentality in Detroit today to pull out an upsit.

If we beat the Lions then it will be “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves”.
